  1. a wisenheimer, eh? :sneaky:
  2. i thought it sounded bad when i first heard it (too slick and unnatural compared to the old live versions), then i grew to like it, then couldn't stand it, now it's just ok. not one of my favorite coldplay songs anyway.
  3. when it first came out, "you know i'm not dead" seemed like an incredibly fitting way to begin "Machina/The Machines of God" by the Smashing Pumpkins.
  4. tom's concert review, the mars volta at the theater of living arts, philadelphia, pa, july 16, 2002: a few months ago, i read about a guy at a mars volta show who yelled out for "one-armed scissor," prompting a rather nasty response from cedric. now, i can't really blame the guy... for all the great songs and great musicians in that band, they just aren't that good live. terrible mix aside (that wasn't really their fault, i guess, although they probably had a say in who was behind the mixing desk), the show was completely predictable (a complete run-through of the album is not a good idea, even if it is a concept album), and there just wasn't the amazing intensity that at the drive-in had. also, somebody forgot to tell omar that he is not the only person in the world who can make a lot of noise with his delay pedal. there's a reason i only do that kind of thing in my room by myself: it's self-indulgent and boring. i can't really say it added to the mood because while he was leaning over his guitar making random noise (often for literally 6 or 7 minutes at a time), the rest of the band just kind of stood around looking bored, except for the drummer, playing random wanky fills. good things: - saul williams, beat poet opening act, had more stage presence and intensity than all five m.v. members combined - eriatarka was just as amazing as i was hoping it would be - drummer is FANTASTIC - cedric actually came into the crowd and stood about 5 feet in front of me to watch the set by Riot Coalition, and from what i saw, he was quite nice to his fans (a friend of mine says he saw the bassist from a.t.d.i. but i must have missed him) i don't know why i wrote such a long review that only 3 people will read and nobody will care about, but oh well.
  5. cut him up into nice little pieces, he'll fit fine. save a rib or two for your ol' buddy tom.... *licks lips hungrily*
  6. it's true i am on the official board, but i haven't posted there since february or so, so i don't really know what you're talking about... like i said, it's an idiotic, ignorant, racist thing to say, so i'm not saying it's ok...
  7. no no no, the quote in question about the cotton field and all that. i shouldn't be defending it (because it was a dumb, ignorant thing to say under any circumstances), but i'm sure he wasn't completely serious.
  8. i thought i had pink eye once but it turns out it was just an infection from my contact lenses. then i actually did get pink eye.
  9. well i guess it's better for the fish to die than to be in constant misery and pain. :(
  10. well, obviously that's a pretty stupid, ignorant thing to say, but i doubt he was serious... i don't know what context it was said in though.... either way you don't say things like that... i post incoherent gibberish. YEE HAW.
  11. *tries to think of response but is mesmerized by jiggly fat man*
  12. my old cat photo was better because it wasn't doctored. :P
  13. i've met all of them but i haven't eaten dinner with them and the only ones that actually said anything to me were jonny and guy. we could worship coldplay for a hundred years and i still don't think anybody will have a story to top jess's. :D
  14. i'll tell you what, i didn't even know i had a personal gallery.
  15. that better not be the pen i lent you. :x
  16. if we're not allowed to walk on the grass, he shouldn't be either. :P
  17. maybe if you try it with a different picture...
