  2. I believe I rambled on quite a bit about the brilliance of City of God in the other thread, so I'm not going to do it again. :P
  3. Well, my all-time favorite is the score for Koyaanisqatsi, composed by Philip Glass. It's a movie where the score is literally just as important as the images (because there's no dialogue or really even any plot). One of my favorite movies, and my favorite soundtrack. :D And... Apollo: Atmospheres and Soundtracks is a score by Brian Eno for a documentary about the Apollo missions in the 60's and 70's. It's got some of the most eerily beautiful music I've ever heard. But that's what Brian Eno does best (even his non-soundtrack stuff sounds like a soundtrack to movies that don't exist). And I don't know who exactly was on it, other than Air and My Bloody Valentine, but I just remember liking the music from Lost in Translation a lot. Vanilla Sky too, which I think was mentioned in another thread... that one had the Beach Boys, Sigur Ros, Radiohead, Paul McCartney, REM, Spiritualized... and some more I can't remember off the top of my head.

Well I saw it on the front page of BBC News' website so I figured it might be making headlines over there too. :P
  5. What American beer have you had? If it's the widely distributed stuff like Budweiser, Miller, Coors, etc., then I agree. It's awful. The locally brewed stuff is much better.
  6. Well, I had a friend from England visiting the states last month and I was going step for step with him, for whatever that's worth. *shrugs* And I've never actually watched the Man Show before for more than 30 seconds (long enough to decide that I wasn't really remotely interested in watching any more of it)... although it's not on FOX here, it's on Comedy Central...

Meh, that means nothing nowadays, i knew a guy who bought playboy, said he loved girls, he even stalked one once. Fact is, he never actually looked in playboy, except to read the articles, he jumped away from girls when they actually kissed him and his own contact with girls was by following them around (also called stalking)... needless to say, he actually was gay in the end  Well, you've probably heard by now about Jim McGreevey, the governor of New Jersey. He's gay and he's been married twice with kids!

I don't think there's any questioning Brian's sexuality. :o Either that or he's overcompensating for something. :sneaky:

Not so much, I still think I'm straight. :P

Well... I bought that one. Hook, line, and sinker.

Standard notation is much more usefal than tabs. :wink3: But I had a head start when I started learning guitar because I was already playing two other instruments.
  12. If you're playing straight 8th or 16th notes or something like in every Strokes song I've ever heard, it does sound better to use all downstrokes (in my opinion), because it gives all the notes a more uniform sound, rather than the alternating sound that you can hear if you're going up and down. But if you're playing something based more on melody, like a Coldplay song, the rhythm and notes aren't as consistant, so you can't really hear as much of a difference between the two picking styles, if you can hear one at all, and it's much easier to alternate your picking than to use all downstrokes because you're jumping across strings more. Or at least that's how I see it, I guess.
  13. My song of the day is THAT STUPID FUCKING SONG THE GODDAMN ASSHOLE ICE CREAM TRUCK IS PLAYING OUTSIDE OF MY DAMN WINDOW FOR A FUCKING HALF HOUR.
  14. I'm pretty good at voice impressions. I should be a cartoon actor. :P And, uh... I can handle a lot of alcohol, for whatever that's worth. And... probably other things. :dozey:
  15. You can't just make wide assumptions about an entire country based on one person. For God's sake, that's what Russians do!
  16. My ideal job is "Top Gun pilot." (Tom Cruise? )
  17. Actually, you only have to be 35 to be the president in the US :smug:
  18. At the risk of sounding like an insensitive bastard... Jeff started this thread because something was on his mind and he wanted some sympathy, not because he wanted to start a contest to see who has the worst situation with their parents. If anybody else here had started this thread it would have been treated with the respect and decency that it deserves. So Jeff, I feel for you, and I hope things get better. :D (edit because I didn't see Ivona's hug was there when I posted that)
