  1. Hi guys!! :) Just popping in to say hello quickly, hope everyone is well :nice:
  2. Croquet's a great game...haven't played since my teens though, but would love to again. All you need is the set (which isn't that expensive at all) and an average-sized lawn. Shame it's coming into autumn here now, it's such a perfect summer game :)
  3. Ioshi, there is no need to thank us at all. We have just done what we know in our hearts is the right thing to do, and alas we have been able to do little considering the size of the calamity :( So, let's continue to support the relief and support efforts as best we can :)
  4. Welcome back Ioshi, so glad you have been safe :) Absolutely - no donation is too small right now. So many people are desperate for the basics of life (soap, toothpaste, food, blankets).
  5. AMAZING shots iriden!! :o  Aw, that's such a shame...
  6. Very best wishes for the collection nancy :)
  7. Any news Joe, found another way for good folk to donate to the cause?
  8. Thnak you so much nancy :) Joe, any news?

Seen them about five or six times spread across Japan and the UK. One of my top five all-time music acts and also live experiences, they are stunning. Of course there will be zero interaction with the crowd, that is not at all what they're about. They are all about intense, beautiful, angry, edgy music, and do that style better than anyone else I have ever seen. AWESOME band :) Oh, and also spent Christmas night 2000 (think it was) seeing Mushroom (Andy Vowles) spin drum and bass in a tiny bar in Osaka, Japan - cracking night, and he's a really lovely fella (even if he was more interested in talking to my then-girlfriend after the gig than me :P) If anyone likes Dub and hasn't heard the Mad Professor remix of Protection - 'No Protection' - (and further remixes of singles from Mezzanine) then check them out - great stuff too. :)
  11. Does every lover of this song know about the fan group we have for it on the forum? http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/group.php?groupid=11
  12. inengsol you are most welcome :) It is the very least we can do to try to support you all as much as we can. Let's hope the weather improves dramatically and relief operations can resume in earnest. Latest from Ioshi: '...the typhoon changed its path, it didn't hit the same are as Ketsana but the northern part of Luzon is experiencing very strong winds, uprooting the trees and destroying houses, especially in Tuguegarao.'

  14. Ouch! Being equally black-humoured though, I'd say it was a close-run thing :laugh3:
  15. I'm a Coldplay fan and I wasn't that fond of it either.
  16. They also created Pixies, unarguably one of the greatest bands of the late 80s/90s and completely failed to recognise them...the Brits and Europe made them huge... (going to see them twice next week btw Brixton Academy woohoo )
  17. Did he get paid to write that drivel?
  18. Aw, shame your friend's so far away...but yes, we hope many more coldplayers will join us :)
  19. About six hours ago from Ioshi: The typhoon is in our area of responsibility now, and our country is in state of calamity. =( and most of the relief operations stopped asking for volunteers because of the rain started this afternoon. And one hour ago: It was reported in the news that the wind got from 250 kph to 130 kph but at the moment its really strong plus the rain is pouring real hard. =( i'm getting scared
  20. Yep :) Are you coming with other people? The more the merrier!
  21. Hehe, well I know how to copy and paste from places on the net :P My friend tried half a yard once and he got soaking wet  If you don't turn the glass exactly right you might as well be taking a shower in beer :laugh3: From Wiki: A yard (or yard glass) is a very tall glass used for drinking beer; a yard (or yard of ale) also refers to the (variable) quantity of beer held by such a glass. The glass is approximately 1 yard long, shaped with a bulb at the bottom, and a widening shaft which constitutes most of the height. Because the glass is so long and in any case does not usually have a stable flat base, it is hung on the wall when not in use. Drinking a yard glass full of beer is a traditional pub game. The object is to drink the entire glassful without pausing for breath, and/or to drink it as quickly as possible. Because of the shape of the glass, once it is raised and the liquid starts to flow, it is difficult to pause. When attempted by the novice, the liquid may flow out in a rush and soak the person holding the glass. ... The glass most likely originated in 17th-century England where the glass was known also as a "Long Glass", a "Cambridge Yard (Glass)" and an "Ell Glass".[1] Such a glass was a testament to the glassblower's skill as much as the drinker's. The diarist and Fellow of the Royal Society John Evelyn records the formal yet festive drinking of a yard of ale toast to James II at Bromley in Kent, 1683. Another reference to this type of glass was recorded in the diary of a John Evelyn in 1685. He referred to the Sheriff and the Commander of the Kentish Troop in Bromley drinking to the health of King James II from a "glasse of a yard long." The story goes that the glass was specifically designed to meet the needs of stagecoach drivers who were always in hurry to get to their destinations. The glass had to be long enough to hand to the driver without his having to leave the stagecoach. The design of the glass meant that the stagecoach driver could drive without losing control and drink at the same time. He could also have his glass refilled without letting go of the reins. Yard glasses can still be found hanging on the walls of some English pubs and there are a number of pubs named The Yard of Ale throughout the country and in certain pubs in the United States. The fastest drinking of a yard of ale in the Guinness Book of Records is 5 seconds :o
  22. Anna, I was just replying to you, but you have to go quick? So I'll just say, thanks so much for the pictures, that looks like a GREAT spot :) (But, bottle of wine in November...gonna be chilly up there - we'd have to take a stereo and dance to keep warm!!)
  23. A Yard of Ale Joe!! :P 'The correct way to drink from a Yard glass without getting soaked: No air can get into the bottom bowl until you have raised the glass fairly high, you need to tilt the Yard glass slowly until it has emptied to the point where the locked-out air can enter the bowl slowly as well as twirling the glass as you drink, which releases the air pressure that would otherwise build up behind the ale.'
