  1. Next week is the most likely, guys :nice:. No need to despair yet. And if this thing doesn't leak, it'll be a miracle, I think. And no, EMI can't stop anything--record labels are effectively powerless in these things, so a lot of them have learned to embrace them. If EMI or any label could stop it, then leaking wouldn't be the phenomenon it is. As I mentioned a few pages ago, follow @leaksallday on Twitter. I think we'll know before they tweet about it that it leaked, just because of the nature of this board and all, but it's a good way to see what leaks and when, and to learn about the timeframe of these things. Most of the stuff leaking now is due out in mid-October. Next week should bring more late October stuff :D
  2. I don't think anyone should cancel or reorder anything unless it's been PAST 30 days since you've ordered it and haven't been charged, OR you haven't gotten a confirmation email. They simply aren't charging you right away...just because it didn't show up on a statement this time doesn't mean they didn't get your order, they're just not charging the orders straight away, which is weird to me, but it's not a cause for major concern either, I don't think. If you only get statements once a month and they come at the end of the month, I think you just have to wait til the end of this month, October, for it to show up on your bill . I also don't think that they're going to take away the preorder button soon...if it turns out things are fishy at the end of October and someone STILL hasn't been charged, I bet you can preorder another one easily without having missed a thing.
  3. :stunned: Well that's a pretty good tradeoff, haha. I've seen them twice, once on my 16th birthday in 2005 (actually it was the day after, but my friend's birthday who was with me, so who's counting) and once this August. I also had tickets to see them in London in July but I had to miss it because I went to the Oxegen Festival instead. They are absolutely amazing live, and the setlist this past time was to DIE for, at least for me.
  4. UGH, I just checked and it's not on my DVR anymore! We're lacking space so things just get automatically deleted :bigcry:. At least the videos are online, I guess. Have you ever seen them live? UGH so good :dead:
  5. Yes, but I FAR prefer the Studio X Sessions version :P. It just seems to suit the mood of the song better to me. I still have their Storytellers on my DVR :dazzled: Styrofoam Plates is GREAT. I think my favorite off that album is Blacking Out The Friction, even though I ALSO prefer the Studio X Sessions version
  6. Coincidence, listening to No Joy In Mudville right now :P Speaking of depressing beautiful songs, Bend To Squares off the Studio X Sessions is my all time favorite in that category. What are your feelings on The Postal Service? I dug that album out for the first time in four years last night and really enjoyed it again.
  7. I was actually surprised at how much hate that album got--I don't really get it. Sure, it's different than their earlier work, but not so different than Plans and even Transatlanticism to me. The only song I don't really care for on it is "Talking Bird." "Cath..." and "Grapevine Fires" are two of my favorite DCFC songs ever, and I love how different "I Will Posess Your Heart" is for them. To me it sounded like growth and change and diversity, while still keeping the things that they originally set out to do in tact. I own and have listened to all of their albums several times, but...honestly, I haven't listened to any of the ones pre-Photo Album since like 2007, honestly, and I heavily favor the four most recent ones. The older ones just never grabbed me in the same way as their more recent work. This probably makes me very un-cool and un-hipster :P. Actually, getting re-acquainted with their older stuff is high on my list of things to listen to in the very near future. I feel like my tastes have grown and changed enough now that I might completely go nuts for it when previously, I thought it was good but not as brilliant as the newer stuff. I was actually inspired to just throw on We Have The Facts... right now! But, as it stands for the moment: 1. Plans 2. Transatlanticism 3. Narrow Stairs 4. Codes and Keys (this feels too low, hmm) 5. The Photo Album 6. We Have The Facts and We're Voting Yes 7. Something About Airplanes But one of my favorite songs of theirs is "Wait" off of the You Can Play These Songs With Chords re-release, so I feel like that fits in there somewhere too.
  8. It's definitely a contender for my album of the year so far. I actually LOVED Narrow Stairs, though, contrary to most of the world :P
  9. I think people are just trying to make money off of old photos again
  10. It's not ticketed, you just show up and try to get the best place you can . And no, if you arrive at 6AM, I pretty much guarantee you won't even see the band for a second. The last Today Show, they had record-breaking crowds filling up whole city blocks. I got there at 6AM and there were thousands of people just overflowing into the street from two blocks away...I don't even know if they could hear, let alone see. It's really an arrive-the-night-before-and-camp-out sort of deal :\
  11. Thought so, thanks Anna
  12. I think that photo might not be recent...but I'm not entirely sure. It's just that they all look really young there to me
  13. I just went through that whole old thread and I didn't post in it once...but there were like a million threads that day, I think, so I just must have been freaking in another :P
  14. OH, and around that time in 2008, I kept a calendar on here that outlined what was happening where and when so people wouldn't miss it...this is what the release time period looked like for Coldplay in June 2008: And Lore just posted this in the other thread, for reference:
  15. I'll definitely listen. As people have said before, I just don't understand the concept of waiting longer for something that you're eagerly anticipating when you can end that pain early--to me, leaks are part of the album anticipation process, at least for bands I'm really crazy about (I usually wait for albums from bands I like, but I'm less rabid about, so I'm not tempted to just download the leak and never buy the album properly). That said, I have no problem with people that decide to wait at all, as long as they don't act all holier-than-thou about it, which seems to happen in every fandom. As long as you pay your dues by legally downloading it or buying it in physical format, I see absolutely no problem with listening to a leak, and it's up to the individual to decide what they want to do. I'm also not a huge stickler for sound quality--I really can't tell too much difference between 128 kbps and higher, for the most part, at least not to the point where it ruins my experience, so I listen in whatever quality leaks. I think this is because I have shite hearing, though :ears: Tracie's basically got it. Some guy named Cedric came on this board (I think he was French?) on June 4, stating that he had the album somehow, and he might have posted one or two tracks here before someone made the decision to put it on another board so we didn't get shut down by authorities for leaking it, and we all migrated to a Justin Timberlake board :P. It was leaked one song at a time over the course of like two or three hours, I think, in 128 kbps. By that point, though, we'd already heard Violet Hill, Viva, Life In Technicolor, Yes/CSC, an acoustic version of Lovers In Japan, and Death And All His Friends from various places, so in that sense it was a similar situation to this time where a lot of the album was already out and only a few songs were left to fill in the gaps. And yeah, the band started streaming it on June 5 because of the leak.
  16. Oh God, I don't even know if it exists anymore. And it didn't randomly turn up there, I think the dude that had it came here first, but rather than attract attention from the authorities to this board, we overtook another board to get the files up originally :P For those who have Twitter: follow @leaksallday. They're pretty current with what's leaking on what day.
  17. I think we're all overthinking it, yeah. If you STILL haven't been charged 30 days after making the order, that's when to worry (or if you didn't get a confirmation email at all, that's a problem). Other than that, I think they're just billing us weirdly and making people freak out for no reason. I bet now that there are so many duplicate orders there will be a few more copies available to the general public in the webstore later :P
  18. ^It was on a Justin Timberlake forum last time :P. Is that where the Beiber comment came from, or was that just a coincidence?
  19. I tried to barrier-camp for The Strokes. Of course Sunday would be the hottest day...we managed until Death From Above, which was a SHIT SHOW. People were losing consciousness left and right, getting crushed near to the point of asphyxiation, girls getting pushed over by huge guys, getting kicked in the head and bleeding...I got out during Duran Duran and watched from the back, heartbroken. It was a wise choice for my safety, but the two other festivals I've seen The Strokes at this year were NOTHING compared to Coachella, and they were pretty dangerous themselves. Even Nick Valensi from The Strokes came out during DFA to survey the damage and looked concerned :P
  20. It was, I just liked that I actually thought "yeah, what are the odds VLV leaked and this is alerting me to it?" before I even touched my phone, and it turned out it was. That was a crazy day, haha.
  21. I'm a complete nerd, what can I say :disappointed: :P I haven't visited this thread in years so when it came up on my subscribed list I got a bit overexcited.
  22. I did . Was waiting for Coldplay, which was 110% worth it, because I think that was the best I'd ever seen them, music-wise. Haha! We probably saw each other somewhere along the way. Saturday was my relaxed "go with the flow" day until Mumford & Sons through Arcade Fire, which was painful. Sunday...oh my God, as great as it was, I never want to relive that day.
  23. Oh man, I forgot about this thread :wacky: Right now on the schedule, I have The National in NYC in December and I'll go see Coldplay on the Today Show again in a few weeks. I also might see Walk The Moon and Fitz and the Tantrums in Washington DC in November. I was SUPPOSED to see Kings of Leon again in August and I was SUPPOSED to see The Vaccines last night, but both got cancelled, and I never got Radiohead tickets for the Roseland Ballroom :bigcry: This is my organized "artists seen" list that I copied and pasted :P:
  24. I had a dream last night that MX leaked . I woke up actually thinking it was true, too. That's kind of what happened to me when VLV leaked in 2008: I got a text on my phone as I was waking up, and was like "lol, what if that's someone telling me VLV leaked, hahaha" and it actually was :P
