  1. Yeah, I'm going to throw my hat into the ring and say "PM me" as well.
  2. I feel exactly the same way, you worded it so much better than I did earlier. For me, leaks and things coming out in fits and starts is part of the album anticipation process in my mind, not something that spoils anything. I'm definitely a product of the 21st century of the music industry in that way, I guess. I completely respect the people that prefer to wait and do it the more "traditional" way as long as they're not high and mighty about it, but I just don't understand the logic given the way I experience music. I'm a huge huge fan of ALBUMS, which sadly I think the music industry is turning away from, but that doesn't mean that every time I listen to a song it's in the context of its album anyway, or the first time. I guess if I thought things were "intended" to be listened to in only one way, I wouldn't make playlists or mix CDs etc, and I think that's a cool part of music too. That's just me though :D
  3. Love your reason for picking that one, Mich
  4. That's a good point, I'm just surprised the drunkards put that much effort in...I don't get how someone who doesn't love a band would camp out for like two days for tickets to something! :freak:. That's why I never went to many shows at the LCR when I was a student there--it was just chock-filled with people who were there to be drunk and obnoxious, few people for the music. Still--I do think if it's marketed as a student tour, it makes sense to have more restrictions. But good on you for getting tickets! For the first time, I'm sad I graduated
  5. Oh man, I totally get why you were asking for the symbols now! If I'd known what you were doing I'd totally have downloaded the symbols for you and gotten them to work :P Awesome, guys! I'm not a huge tattoo person, but those are lovely and discreet and classy . I've been vaaaaguely thinking about doing something myself lately, sometime in the future, but that's great :wacky:
  6. Updated :sweatdrop: The more stuff that goes on, the worse the image quality gets
  7. AND NO ONE TOLD ME THAT I WAS MISSING JONATHAN ROSS? Thanks a lot, guys :phu: :P It'll go on the next update as a past event, I guess.
  8. I'm having major internet issues, so this might take awhile, sorry guys
  9. Definitely not a rumor, in case anyone was still wondering:
  10. FYI to everyone, this is also happening on iTunes so I think if you miss it, you can stream the song of the day any time from iTunes, as far as I understand: http://www.coldplaying.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89236
  11. I love when bands do stuff like that :nice: Last rant about this (for awhile): if this really is to be a "student tour" giving students the chance to see great acts for a good price at convenient locations, I feel like it shouldn't be open to the general public. I guess this is an extreme case, as I doubt 3000 people showed up for Kasabian at Leicester or whatever in the same way, but if this is really to be a "student tour," you would think they'd require a valid NUS ID from any uni to buy tickets (though guests could be non-students). That might have cut down on SOME of the craziness, anyway, but I'm just bitter :P
  12. Got the memo on a Countdown to Coldplay on Canadian TV on Oct 22, will be added later :D Also The Colbert Report is no longer a rumor, so I'll fix the question mark.
  13. Albert Hammond Jr, also of The Strokes :wacky:
  14. :cheesy: I actually tweeted Amanda De Cadenet like 6 months ago when she was asking for ideas for women to have on the show and I told her Gwyneth (and Tina Fey) and she tweeted me back. I doubt it was my influence, but tee hee, my two favorite band wives :P
  15. I assume it's already been posted and talked about pages back, but I think this iTunes/radio "'leaking' one track a day on our terms" announcement has something to do with why it hasn't leaked yet and why there haven't been 30-second previews put online yet, in some way. I feel like there's some correlation somewhere. Interesting play on their part, if that's true. It's pretty genius from a business perspective. I've never seen that happen on an album I'm following before, so it's a new thing to me, but maybe it's becoming something that's happening more frequently now. But honestly, I was more interested in why there weren't previews up than why it hadn't leaked yet, because leaks are such arbitrary things, and I think this explains it.
  16. Updated A G A I N to reflect the news that the songs are not only going to be premiered on radio from Oct 17-23, but also on iTunes. I think for now the only confirmed radio station doing this is 3FM in The Netherlands, but maybe RTE in Ireland as well? Can anyone help out with this?
  17. This also totally explains the lack of 30-sec previews for the songs yet :idea2:
  18. On ITUNES now? Not just radio? Well. This is actually brilliant of them: leak it in a controlled fashion on their terms before release, but make deals with people like iTunes and radio stations (that they probably got paid for) to make more money off it. They're just lucky it hasn't leaked before this (it still might). I might have laid off listening to one track at a time if we hadn't heard the bulk of it yet, but as there are only a few songs we haven't heard anything of in any form, I'll definitely be listening. I also don't mind how I first hear an album, on what format or in what way, because that first listening usually doesn't stick as much in my memory as the rest of the listens for me.
  19. SIGH. I bet I did get the Pink Floyd one and my mom just stole it first, but I live in a really rural area so I think things take slightly longer sometimes. I always get issues like a week later. Then again, I was in B&N yesterday and only saw the Pink Floyd one on the stand. And yeah about Guy, I've only met him once but heard that too. He wasn't rude to me or anything, I just said goodnight to him as he passed and he was like "UGH I've really got to go, fine fine," but came over to me anyway even though he didn't have to . The picture I have we're both making horrible faces.
  20. I was actually afraid he was going to kill me when I met him :P. Or not kill me, but like, he wasn't in the best of moods and was acting like I was making him come over when really he did that all of his own accord
  21. It's like the more photos I see of Guy, the shorter he gets in comparison to the others  He's not even a short guy, just average! But he's looking oddly small in this era :P
  22. I maintain there's a British pronunciation and an American pronunciation of Mylo Xyloto (being an American that lived in England for a long time and getting my pronunciation of certain words made fun of every five minutes for years), but since they're British, they get to call the shots on how to say it  :P
  23. According to someone like a million pages back in this thread who has experience in working in music retail, I think, CD shipments aren't received in stores until like 24 hours before release in unlabeled boxes precisely to cut down on leaks. I don't know how reliable that idea is, but technically yeah, leaks can happen that way, but only leaks that happen like 2 days before release max, and it doesn't explain the phenomenon of a lot of things leaking like 2 weeks before release, so I don't think it really increases the chances of anything, personally
  24. WHOA just realized you said it was 2009, not 2008, don't mind me
  25. It leaked on the 4th, but the 2nd was a busy day because everyone was doing exactly what we're doing now, whining for a leak  NEVERMIND, you said 2009, not 2008 :P
