i just IMed him, telling him my friends think it's hilarious that THAT is what he put in his speech AND that it got put in the paper, but he hasn't responded yet :P

no, i have to say i thought it was pretty funny. typical and odd that they chose THAT line, but funny. he's one of my best friends anyway.

this is the thing that got quoted in our newspaper. it's a line from my friend's graduation speech, in which he spoke a line about each member of our class. and of course, the paper just HAS to use this one as an example... "Chelsea has taught herself not to curse. Instead of using expletives, she uses the word “MUFFINS!” in its place." :dozey:

yecch, i hate salt and vinegar. i'd probably eat pretty much every other flavor out there besides S&V and prawn-freaking-cocktail, though. argh, this thread has convinced me to buy some when i'm out for dinner tonight. i can't resist it anymore.

most of these threads make me hungry these days :dozey: caramel, pancakes, crumpets/english muffins, ice cream, pringles, and now even muffins. reminds me that i need to go shopping...

ME TOO!! same thing: too complicated to bother with right now. but maybe in my later years, when i've got time to work it out. i think mine just gets expressed as a movie because that's my chosen field :P i think we need to share our story thingies with each other again, annie!

hahaha, holy muffins is kind of my catchphrase, embarrassingly enough. there's a looooong story behind it, but in short i once got a bit in trouble for calling the nazis "fuckers" in class, and since then i usually replace the word "fuck" with "muffins" :rolleyes: even sadder was that i was once indirectly quoted in our city's newspaper saying "holy muffins." as an album title...i think it would be mocked more than VLVOD! :P

ooh yeah, you're right about ode! it's a similar tone to shiver, i think. it's just kind of a crappy recording so maybe it's harder to tell. even the lyrics are kind of throwaway in that song, i think it's pretty decent musically. a great "first" recording, anyway. GOD, i how i wish we could hear some more of their really early stuff! that clip of "so sad" in one of the videos got me DROOLING for more. i particularly love the end part of ode, though, with the "would i ever let you down? no way" part, and the tinkly bit at the end that sounds like a xylophone. but see you soon is my ultimate fave, though i alternate between liking the studio version and the live 2003 version better. the lyrics in that song...oh my god, perhaps my favorite ever. i feel like i know exactly what he's talking about even though it's not blatantly obvious. gah, it makes me want to cry every single time. then would come "careful where you stand," but i need to stop ranting about my faves.

oh yes. even though some bits were a bit far-out for my taste, across the universe was still incredible. jim's rather gorgy himself, anyway :P

^yes, i just think "shiver" is kick-ass in every last respect. i love all of their songs to death, and i count "see you soon" as my ultimate #1, but i think "shiver" might just be their ultimate musical work in my opinion. still hoping we get something comparable and even better on VLVOD though. then i'll never doubt that they're going to be around for a long long time again, i think.

sparks is better than we never change, but that's just my opinion. it's the perfect nighttime song! when i heard it in wedding crashers, i TOTALLY wasn't expecting it and squealed a little in the theater.

ditto. i thought we would have had it by now. why is this taking so long? even coldplay released most of the album information by now! i figured we would have gotten the RH tour dates before that happened.

ahh. we call those sorts of pancakes crepes, but they're like really really thin. they're generally stuffed with stuff, like fruit or cheese or nutella (my favorite!). and they're not that common, really, unless you've got to give a presentation on french food for your high school french class and your mom happens to have a crepe maker. i wouldn't even know what they were if not for middle and high school french classes :P omlettes are always made with eggs here. interesting that they're different in europe!

SHIVER. no contest. but i'm hoping that the songs on VLVOD blow it out of the water. i'm still hanging on the promise of chris singing low. but i think amsterdam, GPASUYF, swallowed in the sea, and the scientist are also pretty damn good. nothing beats shiver, though.
