this is nearly exactly what i was going to say (besides the muse part). im terrified that if im not blown away by the next album (just like i wasnt with X&Y) then im going to start losing my love for coldplay, and i really am scared of that. i dont want to be one of those fans of any band that only likes their early stuff (like some people only like the early or later beatles stuff, etc etc). i want to love coldplay FOREVER, and i really dont want to have to like another album just because it's coldplay. i want another album that will knock my socks off, like AROBTTH did for me. that still sounds new everytime i listen to it. and while i dont really expect any album in the future of the world (even another by coldplay themselves) to usurp that album from my #1, i want something that comes close. and being pessimistic like i usually am, i feel like im getting set up by all the comments like "this is the album youll remember us by" and chris has written two songs that "everybody needs to hear before they die" and embrace saying its "epic" etc etc. i think perhaps no matter how hard they try (unless they really really surprise me), AROBTTH will be the album theyll forever be remembered by, i think "clocks" and "the scientist" are the songs everybody needs to hear before they die, and "epic" is promising, but to me that sounds a bit more...hard-core than i prefer coldplay to be. so im worried. i think if i dont like it as music then im going to have to go to bed for a few days and not come out.

i was babysitting tonight and one of the girls i babysit was trying her damndest to play "heart and soul" on the piano. in a moment where she was working it out, i absently started playing "clocks." she looked at me in surprise and said "oh my god, you know how to play that 'do-do-do-do-do' song?" and then all night she was telling her brothers and sisters that i can play that song that's on the radio all the time. it was quite hilarious, because she's 9. i plan to play them more coldplay when i go back on monday ;)

Was leafing through the new issue of Rolling Stone today when I came across this: thought others would be interested in reading, even thogugh it doesn't directly pertain to the new album. I know I jumped out of my skin :D.

hahah, i didnt think of it that way! youre right. i think the combination of "artist" and "guy" is particularly strong in this situation :lol:

i was surprised by the jeans/trackpants too. i havent seen him in anything but cargos for years. but still that same black sweater!! that sweater is how i was sure it wasnt a 2003 photo that someone was passing off as 2007. i find it funny that he doesnt seem to pay any mind to other tops he owns. the last three most recent photos he's been wearing that sweater. thats part of his charm, though. beautiful.

i had the geekiest coldplay (chris) dream last night. for some reason, chris was at our school playing a song in chapel, and after chapel was lunch. somehow one of my friends told chris who i was and arranged for me to eat lunch with him, so at the beginning of lunch, CHRIS came up to me and asked if i would like to eat lunch with him. so i did. we just chatted or whatever, but now im just impressed with how realistically and exactly my dreaming brain portrayed chris--he was exact down to the last bit of stubble. shows how much time i spend looking at him! but i was kind of disappointed in the dream that i didnt have time to ask some of my questions, namely "what coldplay song are you most proud of over all others?" i think i would have even liked to know what dream-chris's answer to that would have been.

ooher! im glad we're getting some recent photos. he looks good! (though i like longer hair...not too much though!) exactly like 2003. that could have been taken four years ago, no question!! i want to see recent photos of the others too! anybody know of any?

^yes, i must admit that i was more offended by jonny's pornstache and "krusty the clown" hair than chris's 'fro, which was only moderately worse than his previous unkepmt look, IMO. :elvis:

because i have a lot of time on my hands these days, ive thought out what id do if i saw them on the street. because i AM a paranoid fan-girl, and if i really let myself go id be one of those shreiky annoying ones, i told myself that if i ever see them in an everyday situation, id keep my cool as best as i could and just say "thank you for the music" or something to that extent. THEN i would snap as many photos as i could from a bit of a distance, preferably without them knowing. i really dont want to piss them off... ok, so this is probably going to be semi-long, but it was a hilarious coldplay moment for me today: i was driving home after work, blasting AROBTTH. "the scientist" was on and i was singing along, blah blah blah. it came to the line "coming up tails/heads on a silence apart" and for the first time in my ENTIRE COLDPLAY LIFE i understood that line! before ive always thought it was a bit of an odd line; i never got what "coming up tails" meant and thought maybe chris just messed up singing the line "chasing our tails" like that's sung later on and they didnt think it was worth re-doing the [AMAZING] vocals just for that one flub. but today, it just hit me that the "TAILS" in that line is related to the "HEADS" in the next...it's a COIN!! a freaking coin. my god. i just cracked up laughing while driving, but then i made myself shut up so i wouldnt miss the rest of the song. ive really been a complete thickhead recently. so that got me thinking about what the line meant, and in a nutshell, i think the chris-character and the girl-character in the song are so hopeless about their relationship that they flip a coin to decide whether to stay together or not, and heads is "a silence apart". but the coin "came up tails" (which means trying to work it out) and given other lines in the song, i think the chris-character is secretly happy about that and really wants to "go back to the start" and give it another go becuase he really really loves her. so, in short, im recently stupid, have too much time on my hands, and am crazy. :wacky:

oh, its not jonny. i think it HAS to be phil--who else, really? for a while i thought it could possibly be brian eno, but the last entry scrapped that theory (unless he's trying to throw us off). ill bet its phil. "glass of water" sounds to me like it has potential, but im really trying to refrain from passing judgement solely on songtitles. but "famous old painters"...i must admit when i first read that i thought of like HOUSE painters first, like dudes that paint walls, and wasnt impressed. but if theyre talking about like monet and van gogh...ooh! ive really been a total idiot these days. dont mind me...

nah, i agree with you. in photos from the parachutes era, he looked like he could pass for my age (18). but now...he just looks older all of a sudden. in a good way, but still. the older he looks, the less attainable he seems to be. even though its not like ill ever get him... and i am also less focused on the haircut and much more thrilled to see a pic of him smiling and not looking stressed or worried or anything. :D whee! now after the haircut, id love to see some more color in his wardrobe...but of course, who cares, he's CHRIS MARTIN.

yeah, my friend got this treatment with the rolling stones. she was convinced she would see them at the party, and they never showed up. but i think id spring for it for the really really good seat and the possibility of seeing the boys, even if only for an instant. having seats that good and seeing all that goes on behind the scenes would be worth it for my favorite band, i think. id only do it once, though.

^i think i know what you mean about IMP. it makes me feel like jumping around with happiness. actually, before i even really knew who coldplay were and before i liked music, the IMP riff would play subconsciously in my head whevever i was really happy. once i got into coldplay in spring 05, i was like "OMG, that's coldplay?!" i had a dream two nights ago that on their website, coldplay put up a calendar and they were releasing TWO singles in late february and the album was going to come out on march 1. it was actually quite realistic considering most of my dreams are completely mad, but alas, so far there's no truth to it. i did think that it was actually going to come out then for a few seconds upon waking up, though. oh, and in the dream on the site there was a video clip of them filming their new music video, which involved all four of them jogging down the sidewalk in london wearing clothes circa parachutes/AROBBTH.

awww well im glad he cut it because that 'do was just WAYY out of hand, but i must say that i like it when its just a little bit longer... :cool: but im much more happy about seeing a recent pic of him smiling. its just sounded like hes been under a lot of stress lately, and even though all the tabloid stuff about him and gwyneth probably isnt true, i think it cant be very nice to hear and read about it all the time, either. so im glad to see a pic of him looking like the old, goofy chris. god, he really is balding though, isnt he? i think his hairline has greatly receeded since AROBTTH...

i agree. i think the reason im rather hesitant to just chalk all the gossip up to pure speculation and tabloid crap is because i truly didnt expect them to last terribly long from the beginning. i dont know, i love gwyneth, but she has a track record with guys and they got into it all rather quickly. tensions seem to be inevitable with kids and big names and careers like they have. of course, i dont WANT them to break up for anyone's sake, particularly because of their children. i hope this is all just crap and theyre having a laugh at it all at home together. and chris's style? HAH, i dont think gwyneth has anything to do with that WHATSOEVER. he wears the same freaking thing every day as stated above and has had wacky hair from the beginning. i think his style just goes in waves. Though given the pic from around the time of the funeral...he needs a haircut. its beyond even the "late twisted logic tour" long, and that was pushing it even for me :elvis:

being a gullible person, deep down i dont know what to think, even though most of me doesnt believe a word. all of that gossip aside, im surprised no one has jumped on the phrase "chris deciding to take a hiatus from coldplay for other musical endeavors." even though i know its just tabloids being tabloids until something official is released, i have to admit my heart did a little jump when i read that line before i reminded myself that this is all just crap. if chris left coldplay i may have to go to bed for a week or two and not come out.

my god, i wish we could drive those in america. i recently got a car too, but i opted for a coldplay keychain rather than a sticker. my friends would have mocked me endlessly, and while i dont care, im not much of a bumper-sticker person. my vote is the globe as well: black on black

i COMPLETELY agree. while im certainly not annoyed by his falsetto like so many people i know seem to be, i do think he uses it a bit too much, particularly on X&Y. yes, he can use it sometimes (i think he uses it in much more moderation on AROBTTH, and he makes better choices of where to use it), but X&Y just overdid it. i really REALLY hope he tones that down on the next album. actually, just this week, my mom and i were listening to "the world turned upside down" (where he doesnt actually sing that high in comparison to many other tracks) and she said "my god, he's going to give himself a hernia singing like that." :laugh3: i LOVE LOVE LOVE it when he sings low. it makes me melt. his voice is even more magnificent when he sings low, IMO. i love certain words he sings in "the scientist" and "amsterdam" and all of "daylight." i really hope he goes lower on the next album more often!! i much prefer his voice on parachutes and AROBTTH, but i have to say that i think it was best on parachutes for some unknown reason. i personally love his voice most in "shiver." i dont really know why. on a similar topic, i kind of hope to hear some more vocals from the other boys on the next album, namely guy and jonny. :D
