^^really about the sig? im a bit undecided about it. i find it a bit...busy. thanks though! yes, we need to make the claire-and-valentine tour diary love thread! i kinda really want to watch it, but then im afraid if i watch it too much i wont love it as much anymore. hmm. i preordered the singles box set last night. i cant wait for it to get here, even if i do have to wait about a month. gah. and it comes with a free coffee mug! ill certainly use that in college next year...i wanted to get the messenger bag as well, but im basically broke. chris was in my dream last night, though i dont remember anything else besides his presence. currently trying to burn the toronto concert to a CD so i can watch it whenever i want (long story why i cant), but im having difficulties. dammit. ...oh wait, it WORKED! :dance:

vinyl is soooo much cooler than any other music medium. i love that they released all three albums on vinyl, and now all the singles. i feel so...uniquely retro owning them all. you get can moderately decent record players for around $40 USD. i got a portable one last year for around that much.

i just find it interesting that my mom used to listen to AROBTTH all the time and they used to be all over the place, but never in my 12-year-old mind did i ever realize or think "these guys will become my lifeblood in a few years". i just find it strange, because if someone from the future told me that id be completely obsessed with coldplay, i would have been like "me? obsessed with MUSIC? pheh."

yay! i preordered mine last night! i cant WAIT for it to get here. im surprised at the price, 94.99 USD, which is pretty damn good for thirteen discs. and i love that theyre releasing them on vinyl. it shows theyre not afraid to do their own thing and get a little funky and not play everything up for commerical economics. so excited!

personally, i dont think itll be easy to get much better than clocks. if they can write another amazing anthem like that, well.

i remember a really long time ago, when i was in my beatles-only phase, (ok, so 4 years ago), i was talking to my mom about music and she was talking about this video of this guy that was just walking along the beach, singing his song. she said she thought it was a great song by a band called coldplay, but the video was kind of boring. and it had nothing yellow in it! then, like two months later, i was walking to the bathroom in my house and passed the tv. there was a guy walking along the beach in the rain singing a song on really low volume. my brain went "coldplay. yellow." i stopped and watched until it was over, even though i couldnt really hear it. this was still way before i got into them though. and i have really vivid memories of driving in the car when i was in 7th grade or so and my mom listening to AROBTTH, though i only ever remember hearing clocks or maybe in my place. it took speed of sound to really get me into them, though. and look at me now!

i like the lyrics for bucket for a crown, though not the music. and it seems like one of chris's throwaway songs that wont have anything to do with the album whatsoever. he wrote it in one night, apparently. and he writes prolifically, according to various sources, so even if these song titles are actual songs, they may never see an album or a b-side. i bet the guys have an enormous backlog of songs that will never be released. im drooling at the thought. i think ive given up guessing at when the next album will be released. im still wetting myself thinking about it, yes, but these things cant be predicted, really. itll come when it comes. im more interested in hypothosizing about what it will be like. personally, i think "sleeping sun" and "the world turned upside down" are good clues. i find those songs different than anything else the guys have ever done, especially in terms of lyrics. i think theyre both innovative and original and fresh and have a new angle on the same sort of coldplay flavor. personally, i really hope the new stuff goes off in that direction, especially lyrically. i think the lyrics on X&Y were a bit of a letdown for me. i dont think the boys will disappoint.

yesterday my mom was screaming at me to get up, but i wouldnt. so she turned on coldplay pretty loudly on the stereo downstairs and i went down to hear it and the second she saw me she was like "HAAA! I knew that would get you up!" ...foiled again. and this morning as i came downstairs my brother was watching MTV and "fix you" video was just ending. i squealed a little bit and he yelled "oh, get a life! it's over anyway!"

sorry for all the posting, but ive been on coldplaying withdrawal. ive had a busy week. was in the apple store today with my mom. on the big poster that compares all the ipods to each other in terms of price and capacity, etc, the pic of the video ipod has a video on the screen, and its a shot of jonny in the speed of sound video! i could tell from across the store that there was a picture of coldplay on the poster, even though it was tiny. i told my mom and she just rolled her eyes.

on extras that was great. i love the laugh at the end! anyone have an MP3 of chris doing "tea for the tillerman" during the end credits?

the world turned upside down and sleeping sun. i hope theyre hints to coldplay's "new direction" on the next album, because both are pretty different from anything theyve done before.

LOVE your new avatar! its beautiful! had a depressing convo about music today in which basically all my friends bashed the music i love. they werent doing to make fun of me for once, we were having a serious, constructive conversation, but basically they say coldplay (and snow patrol, the fray, oasis, etc) arent worth much because they arent original and they all sound the same, according to my friends who listen to "real" music, apparently. it just makes me angry, because coldplay is no less qualified than other bands. its just what youre into and its so hard to judge artistic worth between people. argh. coldplay is my love, no matter what anyone says.

i dont know if theyd still kick them out. i think theyd try really hard to help whoever did it and give them several chances before they got there. and pot isnt a hard drug. its just something thats really prevalent in that environment, and i bet theyve all done a little. and i dont blame them for that. but anything worse and it gets upsetting and irresponsible. frankly, i dont think we have to worry much about it, thankfully. now if guy and jonny would only quit cigarettes...i believe will did, right? i worry about how that will catch up to them more than about hard drugs.

i got 2 new t-shirts today: one is by volcom stone, the same company that chris's current hat is made by and the jacket he wears in the scientist and some hoodies...and the other is of all these little cartoon cars drving over hills and it looks EXACTLY like that shot in the "dont panic" video with all the little cars and trucks driving over hills in time to the song. i'm seeing chris and jonny hats all over the place now...i guess theyre popular!

ahhh! i cant WAIT to hear the song. i hope itll be a single, and soon! i know soon isnt likely, but gaaah, new material! guy did look like a wax figure in the photo...and sorry, jonny, but i dont think the 'stash works so well for you...

so i couldnt come here on chris's birthday, which made me sad, but it was the opening night of the play at my school and im the tech/crew director. i wore my coldplay shirt and my adidas and black cargo pants though! anyway, its a tradition for the show's director to give all the crew members matching hats for each performance, like last year we got police hats, etc. so this year we get ready to start the show and our director gives us.... JONNY BUCKLAND HATS!!! like the one he wore for a good part of the X&Y tour!!! and chris has one like it as well! it made me so happy and was so fitting because it was chris's birthday!! it's black like jonny's, but it has red and grey argile on one side, but thats ok. and its slightly too small for my head and when i get it to work it looks pretty emo and terrible, but I DONT CARE, I GOT A COLDPLAY HAT ON CHRIS'S BIRTHDAY! yeah, im a bit insane. lack of sleep. 7 shows in a week.

^no, youre not. we're all geeks in our own way, and for some of us SEVERAL ways! (right now everyone's back into pokemon at my school and i spent all weekend playing it and conversing with my friends about it! which made me think of the chris quote in the rolling stone article: "pokemon was huge for a while, but that hasnt really lasted." oh, but it HAS, chris!) ...perhaps i shouldnt have admitted that. :lipsrsealed2: im in a very strange mood. because of the song "the world turned upside down" i often think that a circle is 365 degrees rather than 360 degrees, like it actually is. thats screwed me over in calculus a few times! :dunce:

who knows anymore? it would be miraculously wonderful to have a new album by the end of the year, but if theres one thing i would complain about coldplay, its that they are indecisive and impulsive with releasing news and sometimes go back on their word. fingers crossed for soon. (600th post!!! :) )

Are there any Coldplay songs you just never really got into, like ones that everyone else seems to love but you just don't get all the hype? For me it's "How You See the World" and "Trouble". its not that i dont like them, i like all of their songs and i never skip any, but i never really got the big deal. anyone else? :thinking:

i think ive given up hope for new songs. but what a lovely surprise if they did! enjoy them in brazil!

^thats true. in some ways i really understand, he doesnt want his kids to grow up in the spotlight and have everybody and their brother know everything about them and perhaps grow up weird because of all the attention, but in other ways i think tiny tidbits of info cant hurt anyone and just interest people like us. sigh. gwyneth's dress was ok, certainly not hideous or anything, and it worked well for her because she looked beautiful, but ive seen prettier, i think.
