New Coldplay eh?
OK, despite everything...I love the album. I didn't think I would, and I thought at most I'd tolerate about half of it and simply like the rest of it OK, but I actually think despite the direction they've moved in and despite things like vocal distortion and pandering to Top 40 radio...it's a really solid album, with great sonic flow, a cool narrative that's not overbearing, and a lot of great songs (in my opinion) balanced out with a few that don't wow me as much. It's nothing like what I wanted or hoped for, but I don't even think it's their worst album. I'm still stunned I like it this much, but even songs like Princess Of China and Paradise are more appealing in context to me.

I'm sorry Jo :bigcry:. It's like no matter what happens in the Coldplay world these days, half of the people I know are thrilled and the other half are completely skunked. Is this what happens when a band gets mega-big? I feel like it wasn't so cutthroat a few years ago.

This is my favorite one of mine: I even watermarked it, I never do that :uhoh:

Like I said before: this is kind of the biggest thing to happen in East Anglia since the Black Plague . Big acts like this just DON'T come there!

October 2011: Your One-Stop-Shop for Coldplay Info!
OK, guys, I'm going to try to update the calendar today, but after that, I don't think I can because...I'm going to the UEA show and will be away from my computer from the 25th-the 29th. I'll try to think of an interim plan, I know there's a lot happening this week that we don't have room for :P

What I've really got are the best friends in the world. And more Coldplay Karma than I've ever deserved to have.

I thought I saw Moses in the videos too but I wasn't sure! AWW that's adorable :wacky: Is the "I love you" thing on air?- [21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
Double post, sigh  But I'm FINALLY watching the footage back :D. I did notice that Apple was there, though, with a nanny or someone, in a pink Yankees hoodie. She looks very skeptical of the whole thing . Guess she pulled a sick day from school to go see her dad and uncles rock the Plaza.- [21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
OK, this is my story thingy, very long. Pictures will come tomorrow :D- [21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
GRAMMAR ERROR, GRAMMAR ERROR - [21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
I'm going to try and get my stories and pictures up tonight! I have to go out for a bit, though, and most of my digital photos are either too dark or too light and need some editing (I brought my SLR camera and needed to change the settings every five minutes because it was SO BRIGHT on the stage, but then Chris would come close and he'd be moving too fast for the settings...) Anyway, I haven't had time to do anything but sleep since--I was awake for 34 hours, pretty much, and had to sleep that off, so I haven't watched any of the videos (or Colbert) or looked at other peoples' stories/photos or anything :uhoh:- [21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
I'll be there by 4:30-5, as will others who have VIP that I'll be with. I got there at 6 right as it was starting in 2008 and got about 4 rows back, so it's not as cutthroat, or it wasn't then, anyway. Since I'm +1 on someone else's pass reservation, could you tell me the check-in location for this year that was in the email? I want to be sure it's the same place as last time.- [21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
Haha, a bit. But there's still a slim chance I might go to the UEA show? Slim slim, though :P- [21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
I'll be driving to Manhattan around 3AM to get there a bit before 5 because I'm another Coldplayer's +1 on VIP passes. I'll try to tweet as much as possible, but I need to save my phone battery for the rest of the day as well, so my concentration will be on photos! I'm bringing my good SLR camera and a disposable camera for fun, so hopefully I'll have something to show by Saturday!- October 2011: Your One-Stop-Shop for Coldplay Info!
Calendar FINALLY updated to reflect the changed Colbert date, Jools Holland, and the XFM album runthrough. There was no room for me to write in Zane on Monday :uhoh: Sorry it was a bit delayed, guys.- The MX related t-shirts thread
That's my justification for being a bit sloppy--it's supposed to look like that, it's the ~theme~ of the era  I just cut the stencil out of regular cardboard, it's very easy. But I can't draw so I print things off the computer first :P I just love the Major Minus Media/A Hopeful Transmission logo thing as a design, and also because it's not immediately obvious as Coldplay. I might get it professionally printed if that doesn't become a t-shirt design in its own right on CP.com because I love it that much, and a real screen-printed shirt would last much longer. These have already started to wash out after one trip through the machine.- The MX related t-shirts thread
I did a very quick spray-paint-and-stencil job on a couple shirts to wear to the Today Show on Friday. Unfortunately, I washed them and they look a little more faded now, because it's just regular spraypaint meant for cardboard and stuff, but I guess it's "vintage style." Also, the MX ones were really hard to do and didn't come out great because the paint just absorbs into the fabric and turns muddy in color. The grey one looks better in person. Photo under spoiler, it's pretty big:- Coldplay on the Colbert Report Oct 19
So Coldplay's taping tomorrow. IF ONLY I COULD FIND A HOTEL IN MANHATTAN FOR A DECENT PRICE I'D DO STANDBY AND THEN GO TO THE TODAY SHOW THE NEXT MORNING. Gah.- [21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
I heard that in 2008, people started lining up as early as like 8 or 9 PM the night before. I figure this time will be similar, if not more insane.- Coldplay on the Colbert Report Oct 19
Wait, so it's changed to tomorrow? I know a few people that were going today specifically to see Coldplay...if there was a last-minute schedule change I think there will be hell to pay from a few Coldplayers :blank:. I don't think they would have taped today to air tomorrow. If it really didn't tape today, I might go tomorrow to see if I can get standby and then just stay in the city until the Today Show, maybe get a last minute hotel. Anyone have any updates on this?- [21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
As much as I loveeee that song, I think I'd be mostly satisfied if they just came onstages, blasted out HLH, and left  I seriously cannot get enough of that song :wacky:- [21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
Actually, Hurts Like Heaven is really all I ask for, if we're being serious :P- [21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
I'm going to be kind of miffed if they really have that many old things . At least, as miffed as one can be at a Coldplay show, but I'm surprised that they're not focusing solely on the new stuff, given all their insane promo. I can really, really live without Fix You. I want HURTS LIKE HEAVEN, MAN :bigcry: - [21-Oct-2011] Coldplay @ Today Show, Rockefeller Plaza, New York, USA
