Someone here claimed that cranberry juice (wild, unsweetened) cured her mouth cancer - she mashed the berries and applied juice to her sores, and apparently the cancer went away. Not a scientific study by any means, but it does make one wonder if in fact there is some therapeutic value in cranberries.

    >> Truly a noble calling, I am impressed; we need good nurses, as important as doctors if not more so, and compassion is so essential in the medical field these days. It is nice to know what you want out of life, gives one the boost to do well. I sure hope the union stays strong, keeps growing.
  3. I'm sure she whispers sweet nothings into Chris's ears all night long, secretly & subliminally creating LP5 through hypnotic suggestions. :P ( so this must mean there will be a country strong song on the new LP!);)

  5. Overcome inertia. Turn this ship around! So the main motivators driving individuals towards sustainable transportation are: (1) Education and planetary ethics brought forth through individual and group choices. (2) Superior Qualities of green cars. (3) The role of governments as supporters of scientific research to uncover truths, and to then act accordingly on our behalf. (4) Enlightened voting with our money; the power of purchases to drive change. (5) Actual savings over time. ========================================================= Forces presently stalling rapid adoption of green car technologies: (1) Inadequate funding for, or lack of quality in education. (2) Translating our understanding into policy which promotes adopting green car incentives. (3) Government corruption via certain corporate interests with effects on policy. (4) Habitualized behaviors favoring familiarity over innovation. (5) Marketing which encourages current purchasing patterns for maximized profitability over ethics-driven marketing and sales. Car purchases are a pretty big deal, so it's one of those things where people are keen on how the car feels and looks, with the senses being enhanced by advertisements. And how it suits the purchaser for a particular purpose. Some would say we need to change our outlook, come down to earth, and rise to higher ground, to put aside competitive individualism in favor of collective conscience and protection of the commons. I tend to agree. Perhaps both are possible, since in some cases, it's useful to have a vehicle handy, and families need something that suits their needs. But if available, safe pleasant bike paths can be most enjoyable for shorter trips, and get us all back in shape. Longer trips can be better coordinated with rail transit, so the automobile is available handily to and from rail stops, with less hassles in-between. Better transportation synergy will make everything better. The psychological gap to be bridged is dealing with this sense of upward mobility, that the automobile confers in the mind, in society, and in some practical ways. It is one part display feathers, one part comfort zone, and one part speed. So to keep the warm fuzzies without the downsides is the challenge.
  6. :laugh3: like trying to take an image of car #1 on a fast moving train. By the time the button is pressed, and the shutter is open and shut, it's like car#7 going by.
  7. Just OM. If it works for Buddhist monks, it'll work for you. :sunny:
  8. Did she wear a raspberry beret? You know, the kind you find in a second hand store?:laugh3: Purple Rain on her parade, eh?:P BTW - that link and the graffiti were awesome!!! {:+)

  13. > Well, the society of Free Masons has changed a lot over the years, that's for sure. Could be resurrected, maybe that's your calling in life? Why not join the Quakers then, if the free masons are not your style? Apparatjik is a freemason who keeps the secret of humanity? How so?
  14. :laugh3: Welcome Mark, please be patient with us, lots of things going on here! Go to your personal settings, load in a photo if you wish for your avatar. The tagline thingy I never really got into - but I'm sure it's easy enough to do.. Comment on anything you like, just don't break the rules! (:laugh3: our last Mark did and got bounced off of here.).
  15. Definitely Amaretto, that's the ticket. ;)
  16. It's our window on the world; the world of feelings, of creativity, of freedom, of music. Like minds across the globe, bridging the vast expanse of earth. The neural network of neural networks, the web of webs.
  17. Oh, hey, you're on first! Cool! Amaretto then, make that a double (one for Reilly too).;) Anything to relieve tension, meditation is one good way, or listening to something soothing and relaxing beforehand. Remember to have fun, just let it flow.
  18. > Prisoners of state we are not, unless we believe we are. We may be more disposed to tolerate dysfunctional institutions rather than risk changing those institutions, but along comes problems such as unemployment & income inequities, resulting from systems of governance controlled by a power elite. Then the power of mass gestalt becomes an undeniable force for change, for revolution. We are powerful if we work together in unison. All human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights. They are endowed with reason and conscience and should act towards one another in a spirit of brotherhood. It is the collective conscience which is stirring from a long slumber. Quoting from Democracy Now!'s interview of Richard Wolff, Emeritus Professor of Economics at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, and visiting professor at New School University: "So, over the last 30, 40 years, a shift from corporate income tax to individual income tax, and among individuals, from the rich to everybody else. To deal with our budget problem without discussing that, putting that front and center, making that part of the story, that’s just a service to the rich and the corporations. There’s no polite way to say otherwise. And there’s something shameful about keeping all of that away and focusing on how we’re going to take out our budget problems by cutting back benefits to old people, to people who have medical needs. There’s something bizarre, and the world sees that, in a society that has done what it has done and now proposes to fix it on the backs of the majority." Now you tell me, who has too much power, the fed or a few wealthy individuals who have bought the government they want, and have bent the rules for their own favor to the point of breaking the country? And if we sink, so does the global economy - so we had better fix this leaky ship and get it back to floating right for smooth sailing, or down we all go. 19. I'm not a mind reader, I just hope everyone's alright.
  20. I discovered when I just had fun with what I was doing, I did much better. Relax and have a sip of amaretto, you'll do much better! :P
  21. I am sorry to hear that your friend didn't make it, that is a tremendous loss. I hope that you are comforted by friends at this moment, sharing good memories and warmth at this time of loss. I think the same thing - it is different when it is so personal, so near. The best thing we gain from loss is realizing how precious life and friends are, how precious love and sharing is. Bless you and your countrymen for coming together in this way.

Greetings Dave. :sunny: Great song selections!! :awesome:
  23. I'm just focused on the "Immediate aid saves more people from hunger," and "There is a shortage of irrigation systems and drought resistant plants." If we just accept and work with them to deliver aid and monetary assistance, then the driving forces for conflict - fights over scarce water, food, and scarce green pastures for livestock - as those pressures diminish and supplies provide a stopgap measure of support, normalcy will return. Then the task of irrigation systems, water retention systems, and desalination systems can restore the agricultural productivity of Somalia, and better the odds of crops on dry years. I think the citizens of Somalia want and need the chance to solve their own problems, given the resources to do so. But we can help offer them the modern equipment and training to do so, and commit to a long-term stabilization plan for the horn of Africa.
  24. That's because someone requested that one. Don't ask me why!
