It takes time. Time heals all wounds, albeit some more slowly than others. Take time to make time, make time to be there.

Proposed Amendments
When I look at what the US does fund and what it doesn't - it seems there's virtually unlimited resources available for the war department and protection of giant corporate interests, and barely a trickle for humanitarian relief efforts, and for getting jobs and meaningful careers to people in need - to create a healthy vibrant global economy. Government's role is "to promote the general welfare", which is to say our government, on our behalf, is there to set up the right conditions and promote positive ventures for citizens to seek improvements in their lives. By extension, this applies to citizens of the world - for promoting the well being of all ultimately makes for greater global contentment, productivity, and improvements in fair trade. In order for that change to happen, and for us to honor this goal, we must elect an honest government which respects our highest aspirations as a people. The prerequisite is an honest and fair elections process, in essence, The Right to Fair Elections.

What are you thinking right now?
How tragic to have lost her half-brother as one of the victims on the island. I would never have imagined that her half-brother was the unarmed policeman who was shot on the island - that is so surprising. Glad the service was genuine and sincere as it should be. My thoughts are with all Norwegians today as well.

Green Cars
What?!!:stunned: Seems a bit odd, but I suppose they want to ensure a good payback over time. Even so, 25 years - that's quite a long span of time. Who does the maintenance if something goes wrong in that time period? All sorts of problems may arise in 25 years, such as the soldered connections coming loose, or storm damage, tree limbs clobbering the panels, or gradual power loss. What if, let's say, the output goes down so that in 22 years, it would make more sense to replace the panels?

DROUGHT IN EAST AFRICA AFFECTING 12 MILLION PEOPLE IN THE HORN OF AFRICA
This is the world we live in - we're waiting to get clearance to fly 14 tonnes of France's finest Plumpy'nut to Somalis in need. What a name for a product! :laugh3: Gotta laugh sometimes, or all we do is cry. Oh lord, why can't this operation get underway? Waiting is deadly, better get that Plumpy'nut in the air! I just don't get it. If the problems are the result of resource struggles over water and food, which cripples the economy, and further destabilize the people, why not just get things going? Send it! Work with the difficult people if need be, but when health and life are at stake, there's no time to dicker. Then, do the necessary things to conserve water resources - send equipment, build earthen berms to catch water during downpours, save it for dry spells. Drill wells, set up pumps, run them with wind and solar that is perennial there. If necessary, pump brackish water, salty water, set up desalination plants in Mogadishu, start a green economy there to do it. They'll run with the ball, given them a chance - just prime the pump. You know, if we here in the US spent 1/10th the money we spend on military, we could help solve all these problems, and end the frustrations that lead some to the extreme. The peace dividend requires a peace investment. And once established, the democracies would seed themselves, green the deserts, and return a world of peace and prosperity for all.

Proposed Amendments
I think it's already illegal to physically punish children, but certainly that is a problem! The right to be free from the physical abuse of others, maybe that could be made into an amendment.

Glad to be here

Hello Rockin' Robbin! Welcome!

I can't even comment.
> Ummm, well that is part of the problem, yes, there is general ignorance, and so it's unfortunately possible for idiots who seek office to manipulate the public, or maybe 1/3 of the public. But still, we elected Barack Obama, and while he's fallen way short of expectations, he is in some ways a global citizen, and was elected by us. But this interview nabbed people off the streets, who represent a segment of the population, obviously one of the most uninformed segments of the population. And besides, North Korea is just somewhere over there, ya know - Middle East, Far East... hey, it's in the East!:laugh3: What else do ya need to know? Ignorance is blitz. I understand what you're getting at, and yes, we have a problem with ignorance everywhere. But it's more than knowing where things are, it's more a matter of understanding what is good policy and what is not, and getting honest, intelligent people in office. Education is a big factor, that I wholeheartedly agree on. Hm, "One day U.S. gets mad at France and bombs Australia." :laugh3: I thought Australia was part of the US? Isn't that one of those southern states? :P And besides, the US is just part of France anyhow, what with Quebec up above, and Louisiana down below! We like wine and cheese too!!;)
