Violet Hill FULL VIDEO!
wow, that's ... bizarre their outlandish sense of humour is getting a bit frustrating, though; the last three videos have been kinda piss-taking (Talk, Hardest Part, now this) and it doesn't fit the music but at least it gave me a few well-needed hahas

Coldplay.Com EXTRAS
^ ya reckon? that would kinda suck if they did ... so it's just Chris' head and some lights at the moment - wonder what it is???
-
Coldplay.Com EXTRAS
yep; to all you impatient people, I think it gets updated every day or so to count all the new entries (hence the recent 14-28% jump)
-
Coldplay.Com EXTRAS
okay ... so it's been roughly a day since this was set up, and 14% of the material has been released. by that logic, we still have 86% to go, which equates to almost a week left for the rest to be unlocked GRRR!!! the suspense is killing me!!!

The Puzzle and the Give Away.
hmm ... interesting didn't they hint at 'first come first serve' somewhere? or is my brain just telling me what i want to hear? i dunno about the percentage - I'm pretty sure it's referring to the amount of the puzzle that's so far been uncovered, especially seeing as 22 of the 240 squares have been uncovered, which equates to 9%

Triple M and iTunes observations

Best Title Track?
^ couldn't agree more - X&Y was fairly forgettable, although it wasn't bad, and AROBTTH was pretty cool but VLV is stellar

The Album To Remember Them By...
^ I can see where you're coming from - I was seriously worried about this album (experimental Eno + strange song titles + moving away from X&Y didn't sound like an appealing combination), but judging from the songs that have come out so far it sounds brilliant. So I understand that you're insecure about whether it'll be as good as their previous albums, but I'm hoping for your sake that it grows on you. And, for the record, I don't think you're going to get much support in this forum so don't expect this empathy from others ;)

How Many Times Have You Listened To 'Viva La Vida'

Viva la Vida (song) = Beautiful...?
mmm ... i'm lovin it, it's so fucking epic! I think it's great they're still as epic as X&Y, but so much better

[Article] The perils of the pretentious album title
^Dark Side of the Moon isn't as wanky as VLVODAAHF, but HTDAAB certainly is. This guy is a dickwad for saying this - I'll be pissing myself when the album tops the charts around the world (Violet Hill's already been well-received). And, ya know, people said the same thing about Achtung Baby by U2 when it came out - stupid title - and yet it's the best U2 album ever, plus quite commercially successful.

At what point does Chris start becoming Bono, Paul Mac
haha! dunno about that tbh - bono wore a pair exactly like that during the All That You Can't Leave Behind era. we could just say they're unisex ... i think chris is a great guy, but he's no frontman. he's easily embarrassed in public and he seems pretty uncomfortable about being a rock star - he shouldn't have got uncomfortable when people started asking him about his private jet and all that, he should've just said that nothing disallows him from having one and not taken shit from the reporters. i think the public/tabloids bully him a bit cos he's not seen as the most manly of men, and bono and paul at least have the respect to back up their big gestures. i honestly don't think coldplay will ever be u2 or the beatles - they're just too nice.

Have any of your local stations played Violet Hill?
I was surprised to hear it down in little old New Zealand - I don't listen to the radio but I went into a shop yesterday and it was playing in the background. Such a great feeling.

Weakest First Single Yet?
I think Violet Hill is surprisingly catchy - one of my first thoughts when I heard it was that it was gonna be a total radio hit cos it's so OTT and epic, but without losing any of its cool. It's an improvement on SOS, but then again that was the most commercial song on X&Y so they kinda had to release it if they wanted that US top ten (and I think that was the only thing Coldplay wanted back then - mega success, and they got it). In My Place was weak and won't ever be remembered as a classic, it was just all-out ass-kissing pop. Even if Violet Hill doesn't kiss quite as many asses it's at least interesting and attention-grabbing (it's the first Coldplay song I wouldn't have on as background music at a dinner party). But let's face it, the most commercial song is always gonna be the lead single, and in this case the most commercial also means the least adventurous (hopefully). I'm hoping that the rest of the album will be less commercially focused (isn't that what they've hinted at?), although Violet Hill is certainly a step in the right direction for them. They probably chose it cos it was the most similar song to their old stuff, but at the same time a good indication of where they were going with the album, so they hoped to not lose the old fans but at the same time get people (like me) who had gone off their sweet 'n' sensitive style listening to them again. God, I'm a product of their damn marketing scheme! :stunned::stunned:

Coldplay:"Arcade Fire Shaped Our New Album"
I'm surprised you guys in the US have a hard time getting NME - it's available everywhere in little old New Zealand and for a good price, so I will definitely be getting it. I did think Arcade Fire when I heard Violet Hill - particularly in the rhythm, it's very stomping
