Do you play an instrument?
My main instrument is bass. But also can play piano, acoustic&electric guitar, drums, a bit trumpet, some percussion. I released two albums/e.p's. This year will be my best I think. Because I'm writing and planning for my third album that will be huge and alot of stuff around it! I also own a little home studio! Gear: Basses: Squier Jazzbass, Fretless Jazzbass, acoustic bass. Guitars: Epiphone LP, Motion strat. Acoustic guitars: Fuego classic, Granada acoustic, cheap classic. Piano: Yamaha Clavinova Keyboards: Yamaha, and some other good keyboards. And some extra's: ukelele, percussion etc. Amps: Marshall 4X10 200w Bass combo, Hartke basscombo, unknown guitar combo. Recording: Behringer mixer, MIDI from piano to Fruity Loops. In Fruity Loops I have some professional plugins for orchesta, guitars, pianos. Mainly I use Miroslav Philharmonik for brass and strings, TruePiano for special pianos, Amilitube for guitar effects, AmpegSVX for bass and Ezdrummer with all extra packs for drums. But most are recorded via microphone. So that was most I think haha! More @ StephanHondeveld.com

forming a band
You can form a band with different musical tastes. But be sure that everyone know what the 'main' musical taste is. We lost 2 guitarists because they didn't wan't to play hours taste of music. So becareful with that! Some tips: - Start with drummer and bass, those are the most important part for the band. - Besure that you're guitarist can play more than only chords, or get 2 guitarists. - Try to play once a week. - Start writing songs realy fast, you don't wan't to stuck on covers when you wan't to play own songs.

Anyone suggest an electic guitar?
There are alot, alot different electric guitars. Telecasters are the worst with setting it up, not much difference in them. Telecaster is an guitar that must be what you want, what you hear, is what you get and thats it with Telecasters. However there are different Tele's. I prefer Jaguar or Stratocasters. But better: Epiphone, the child brand of Gibson. I also have Les Paul from Epiphone. They are very good. BUT you have to tune them alot and when they are in-tune... ...you can get alot of different sound from it. I play Coldplay with it. Sounds very well! And I also play metal/rock with it.. sounds also very good! You can better go to the store and try something and make an choice.

Whats a good starter acoustic guitar?
I started acoustic guitar with an local toy store for a few bugs! Very, very good for its price! But now I have an special guitar that's pretty rare: Fuego. Those are very good quality, but hard to find for a good price and good quality. I also have an Granada acoustic, but also pretty rare. If you find one of these guitars, GET ONE!

Pianos during all the tours?
I always had an acoustic piano. But it was a bit like an hell. Tuning, only piano sound, dust... all things that can be a problem. BUT I traded it for an digital piano.. Cheaper, but alot better. The sound is better, it realy sound like an grand piano and its alot smaller. It also contains two headphone inputs, midi in/out, few voices, different feel settings and alot more. The feeling is exactly the same as the acoustic piano did, Easaly to create an full orchesta by using midi and virtual instruments.. You NEVER can get that with an acoustic piano! +1 for Yamaha pianos! ps: My old piano was an Yamaha B2, and the new is an Yamaha Clavinova 320.

Live Amp Question.
Maybe, he used the Marshall because his other amp was out for repair or his Marshall was out for repair.
-
Live Amp Question.
I've seen alot photo's and videos and stuff from the parachutes where Jonny and Guy used Marshall amps, well the Marshall could have been Chris his amp, but it was right behind Jonny.

Coldplagiarism
1. In fact, if you already don't know what Coldplay is.. how do you know music theory? That's a realy weird combination.. 2. No pop is realy different, rock, indie-rock that sounds alot better then pop.. 3. I don't have to know stuff about Salami, I know how it goes and this is the wrong way. 4. Did you read my post? Probably not.

Coldplagiarism
I've only read the start post, don't care about the other pages, so my reaction is on the start post and poster. First of all, so you are musician.. Well not that 'professional' because of calling Coldplay Pop music. The fact is that they are not pop. Even X&Y(Alot people say that album is pop) is different than pop. Also to trash your topic and Joe Salami(Can't remember his stupid name), If Coldplay used it from his song, they are ding it completely legal. Do you know why? Because there is one rule in music industry. The fact is that you are not legal when you use more then 10 seconds of a song. The Melody and Harmony have to be identical. Even the key is important. And now the funny part. It are less then 8 notes that are the same. Even diffent key, but the melody. I'm sure there are more then hundred other songs with the same melody, even with more notes and closer to the Joe Salami song. Why does he sues Coldplay? Exactly because theire song became a hit and the others didn't. Is that Joe Salami guy too lazy to promote his songs without using bands that made it better and does their best for it? Well, that's how music goes.. if you can't accept these things.. search another hobby. You know there are already songs that can use things you wrote. Also there is a Dutch song, released around the same time as Parachutes. And the chords, melody even the key fits perfectly with trouble.. thats almost 10 years ago(!) never sued each-other.. And I don't know where you've been in the past years, but Coldplay are known as the band with the unique songs, easy but very rare. So not a band that is lazy by using songs from another bands. This is how I see it. And yes I'm a musician, and also with huge music theory knowledge..

Garbage mastering
It's true, theire new mastering realy sucks. Even the song Viva La Vida sounds so 'soft'. It should be darker and heavier. And the bassdrum well.. it could have been deeper. Now it's I use to rulleee the world. But when he says I use to.. you already know there is something coming. If hes slowed it down and very deep. And then the bassdrum starting at left going slowly to the right.. no-one knew it was comming. If the strings where dark and heavy and then Chris started with I use to. And the bassdrum as they are playing in a deep cave.. It have been alot better.. To bad I can't make it the way I said above. I need the master tracks for it.. I can try to record them .. but can't sing.. so if anyone know an instrument-less I use to rule the world.. PM.. ;)

Coldplay's Chris Martin Hints Retirement Next Year
Stop after 2009? I found this one, what the heck? :stunned: http://www.nme.com/news/coldplay/41153 Coldplay's Chris Martin has suggested that he plans to split up the band at the end of 2009. The frontman told the Daily Express that his decision was based on his view that bands should call it a day before they get too old – saying he wanted to go out with a blast by keeping as busy as possible until 2009 ends. "I'm 31 now and I don't think that bands should keep going past 33," he said. "So, we're trying to pack in as much as possible. Up until the end of next year, we'll just go for it in every sense. "I don't believe in time off. We've still got most of our hair, we can still fit into our musical trousers and we've got to make the most of that.
