like i said it wasn't just one person who said that to me. If Soleil actually bothered to maybe read further down my post, she'll see at least 4 or 5 other americans online said it to me too...just be glad you don't appear to encounter it, because I've encountered it more often than id like...it goes along with the US arrogence thing :/ I've encountered that a lot more than the german thing...neither are pleasant :( I liked the US, like I said in my other posts 99% of US ppl ive met ive liked, its just the odd few that ruin it. I went to a red neck pool bar with my ex's sister once, full of Vietnam vets, and first of all i was quite wary, but they took to me really well, and loved my accent, which was cool :) I still wanna go to the west coast sometime soon...California mmmmmmm Royal family, hmmm, they make the nation a lot of money in tourism, apart from that...*thinks* well they open things well, they do good parties and weddings ... erm that's it...oh they inbreed too :)
  11. lol how vague, this is where knowing european football comes in handy :) same reason i knew Bulgaria's capital lol (CSKA Sofia :)) Estonia is Talin or something like spelling wise (that right?)

  13. Reebok that was... Atm my favourite set of ads are the Adidas ones with Beckham and Johhny Wilkinson doing each others jobs, Beckham hitting it over the bar, and Wilkinson taking free kicks, have to say, they're both damn good at what they can do...sign Johnny up for England FC, he has a left foot, oh how we miss some1 with one :(

  19. Dairy lea is a cream cheese, like Kraft cheese slices, except in a wedge shape like pieces of a trivial pursuit pie...HP sauce = A1 steak sauce kinda so US equivalent is roughly Kraft Cheese slice covered in A1 :)

Nope, it's a common misconception in the US. 1st up, my ex's dad used to say it to me to try to wind me up, so I'd just mention Vietnam back to him. 2nd. It features in at least 3 TV Programs/Films I have seen, two of them being mainstream, so reflective of modern america. First of all, Friends, when Jack Geller (Elliot Gould) is upset about the wedding bill for Ross's marriage to Emily. Says to Emily's dad (Tom Conte) "...you would be speaking german if it wasn't for us, small minded, pompous..." etc Second, Moe in the Simpsons, during the episode set in the Future where Lisa is gonna marry a brit...."Heheh we saved your ass in world war 2" Third, a film called A Fish Called Wanda (dunno how big that is in US) When Kevin Kline playing an ex CIA agent is mocking John Cleese stating we'd all be part of the third reich and speaking german if it wasn't for the good old US of A. Also at least 4 or 5 americans have said those lines to me online when things have got heated... So if 2 of recent times most popular shows, that are meant to express US society (Simpsons more so) use that line, then it is a misconception that exists in america. Just be glad you have never heard it Gvargas :)
  21. I like - Hugging Jessy - Kissing Jessy - Curling up behind Jessy at night, hearing her breathe and drifting off - When Man Utd miss a last minute penalty against Arsenal :) - When twats who speed down streets in their cars looking cool get pulled up by an unmarked police car and you can just standing there laughing them - Lying in a tent listening to the rain, knowing only a small sheet of fabric is keeping you dry - Waking up at 7.30am and then realising it's saturday and you can just lie there as long as you want.
