I don't altogether disagree, although I care less about diversity than the individual human condition. But what irks me most is the idea that we're supposed to be anything. Beauty becomes pretty meaningless when its inevitable and one can't choose to not be beautiful. All in all, it's just really stupid and gives false consolation to people who are stupid enough to believe it. Obviously not everybody realizes their potential.

Before I went to sleep I took a pic of myself with my cell phone, and in the following dream, that picture somehow ended up on facebook, and my sister was reprimanding me for how uncool I looked. It makes sense because earlier that week she was being a bitch about how I had a sheep as my picture, and how I wasn't attracting any chicks with my status.

can you, without being overly subjective? The burden on definition is on you my friend. I hate to use a cliche ad absurdum, but could Hitler be seen as universally beautiful in any way? Perhaps you'll make a distinction between different types of beauty, but if you admit that some people are not aesthetically, morally etc. beautiful, then obviously its conceivable that there are quite a few human beings that do not fit these terms. if everyone became a beautiful person regardless of will, then the world would be rather depressing place. Beauty is a result of your actions, not some foolishly optimistic fatalism.

exactly, I kept expecting to change into this completely different, smart, human being. And now it seems like some so-called 'grown adults' are just as immature as 10-year old kids. Except they can drive cars, have sex and drink alcohol. I still feel like a kid most of the time, just with different responsibilities and a lessening curiosity with the world.

If I've learned anything in college it's that my childhood ideas about college, adulthood and maturity in general were grossly overestimated. I feel much more mature and intelligent than the average student here, and yet there'll be times when feel like I was no less mature five years ago. Now that I've pretty-much reached adulthood and am halfway through college I look around and think 'this is it?'

I absolutely agree. wanna be my friend? :P But yeah, I can't remember the last thing I heard something worth hearing when I was hanging out, and its useless trying to start a conversation about more interesting things. Its like all people want is to be acknowledged, like feel part of a group, and they use that as a a diversion from the important issues of life rather than a way to address them. I mean, I probably would go crazy if I was completely isolated, I do talk with family and some people on campus, but while it would be grade to have more people here to relate to, I like to think its healthy to ween oneself off of useless company that just talks about video games and crappy bad music/movies. I use that time to read and play music, and do other boring introverted things.

That's just it, loneliness is far more than one's proximity to human beings. I am most alone around certain groups of people. Most of the time conversation diverts to the lowest common interest of the people there, and it becomes a waste of time. My first semester I had a roommate and was around people constantly, as a result there would be times that I was desperate to get away, I would walk around campus while listening to "How to disappear completely" (added for color, but true), and would be repulsed by anybody I saw. I would seek refuge in the piano labs, but then would be incensed by people talking right outside where I was playing. I remember wishing I was in field, miles away from everyone where I didn't feel irrationally restricted. Now I still socialize, but am much, much more comfortable.
