  1. Most would put it pretty low. Probably 5th, 4th best at the highest. The usual favorites are OK Computer, Kid A, and In Rainbows...though most fans drool over every album sans Pablo Honey.
  2. Seriously impressed by the tenacity and fitness of South Korea and Japan. Spain should've lost by much more.
  3. On the way home, I heard Michael Savage on the radio saying that the movie should've been pulled from theaters after the shooting. Ridikulus.
  4. As much as I find The Antlers ridiculously overrated, their undersea EP is really good.
  5. You are coming off a bit dense right now. One, you completely missed the point of the guy's statement. He wasn't excusing or trying to lesson the monstrosity of what happened, but stating a simple fact that people and their actions are the products of causal circumstances. There are no inherently evil people. If a person takes pleasure in rape it is because of some fucked up connections/coincidences in the universe that made them who they are. This doesn't excuse murderers from the law, but pretending Holmes had some kind of causa sui authority over himself from birth only leads to misplaced hatred.
  6. Yeah, I was referring to American media. An interesting point.
  7. I always wondered how much or if other countries bother to teach them in geography. I am proud to know the provinces and capitals of Canada, but even that was extracurricular.
  8. I do not. The shooting or America's stupidity? Well I, for one, think that fire is disruptive to the moral fabric of society. I...I, just have no idea what you're trying to say anymore. Okay...The fuck? No, I don't think that's often at all considering the amount of psychopaths on this planet, the size of this country, the regularity of similar foreign events that don't get a 10th of the media coverage (the Norway camp attacks for instance, which was twice as deadly as Virginia tech). Considering that 90 people were murdered today in the US and Mexico (about 45 each statistically), which is, in turn, dwarfed by everything that happens daily with the Arab Spring...the only thing that makes this event notable is the killer's dramatic choice of method and venue.
  9. They don't. There really hasn't been an event of this type with the same type, scope, and size of reaction in the US since the Virginia Tech massacre. On that note, after hearing an endless discussion on a radio talk show today about this shooting, they casually mentioned 90+ dying today in various attacks across Iraq. Ethnocentrism at its worst.
  10. Aha, should've paid mored attention to the poster. (I've always been one to blame the victim)
  11. People protecting him from being demonized/ridiculed. Arguing that he was mentally unstable, lashing out against an unjust society etc. idk  Who is hating? And no, amazingly, these events have not put in me in a state of constant, irreparable sadness.
  12. I'm guessing you didn't even bother to read all of Reilly's short post, or edit out the content you didn't agree with when you quoted Reilly and then responded 'This exactly'. Misunderstanding aside, let me catch you up. Most western judicial systems entitle criminals to a fair trial with access to a defense lawyer. You're positing that the nature of the crime and the defendant's guilt are so obvious, that it is amazing that anyone would agree to represent him in court. Reilly argues that it is not so unbelievable because... The ball is now in Mr. Bauer's court.
  13. I wasn't quite sure what he meant, as I could see various ways of interpreting 'defend'. Wait, so if you agree, why is it so unbelievable?
  14. Matthew Cooper is releasing a 7'' under the moniker Martin Eden. The A-side is gorgeous. http://www.xlr8r.com/mp3/2012/07/worker
  15. Fulham rubbish Dempsey-to-Liverpool report ESPN staff July 18, 2012 Fulham have moved to deny reports that Clint Dempsey has been sold to Liverpool. A report on the website of Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group claimed that the Reds had 'added Clint Dempsey to a team that came within a game of winning the FA Cup.' The post has since been removed, but not before it caused quite a stir among Liverpool and Fulham camps. Liverpool have been strongly linked with Dempsey this summer, but Fulham have moved to deny their star man has been sold. A Fulham spokesperson told BBC Sport: "It is totally not true. We have not received any bids." Dempsey has just one year to run on his Fulham contract and the club have so far failed to persuade him to commit for longer. Having scored 17 goals in the Premier League last term, Fulham may be forced to cash in during the summer transfer window and Liverpool remain at the head of the chase for his signature. http://www.espn.co.uk/football/sport/story/160896.html#l6AhGs82szxGM7qg.99 Fun stuff.
  16. The Daily Mail is apparently saying that Fulham has agreed with Liverpool on a Dempsey transfer fee. Taking it with a grain of salt, but it makes sense that he'd replace Carroll. Higher transfer fee than Tim Ream I've heard. Which is great, because Cameron actually has talent.
  17. to state the obvious, the powers that be should edit the thread title.
  18. I liked the Tate Modern school of ******y... :shame:
  19. They're playing here in a couple days. Solid group, but not sure it's worth the $30 + gas. All are invited to persuade/dissuade me.
  20. This should be in News & Sports, but on topic, I always binge out on the Olympics. Even watched most of the televised trials. No, not physically going.
  21. I'll do it, presuming no one finds me musically immoral, or wants to fist-fight me for it.
