  1. heh, I guess I just don't really post in the lounge that much anymore (on the whole I don't do too much posting these days) [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nGLqXZ-f70]Nico- These Days - YouTube[/ame]
  2. Just never understood the hype... :-/

  4. I realized that Courtey was supposed to be courtesy. But seeing how you're not quoting a news source, but what I'm guessing is some guy from a man city forum, I'm not sure why you would post it if you didn't find it at least mostly agreeable.
  5. Since I have no idea about most of these and nothing better to do on a thursday night (I actually do, but am tired enough to excuse passing up productive activity for foolish browsing), I thought I'd look some of these up. 1. Chelsea Away. Good penalty call by the ref. Hands are up and away from the body, in a way that all defenders are taught to avoid doing. Ref had no choice. 2. Man Utd in the cup. Kompany A respectable decision. Regardless of whether he gets the man. There are two rules of tackling that every player knows. First, don't tackle studs up above the ground (if you get the man its a sure yellow), and second, never ever tackle with two feet. Every time that I've seen someone slide in the way Kompany did, it's been a straight red. When I saw Aaron Hunt of my own Werder Bremen slide in that way against Munich, I knew the red was coming out and didn't complain, even though he got the ball first. 3. Man utd, Jones hand. Maybe. I would have empathized with either decision, as Jones hand was initially behind his body, and was just unlucky to have had the ball bounce as it did. That said, the ball was well behind the runners, and would have just been cleared out anyway. So I hardly think City was robbed on this account. 4. Liverpool tackle. Can't find it. 5. Wigan. Can't find, you won anyway. 6. Sunderland Hardly a metre and a half. But yes, offside. 7. Tottenham Rightfully banned for being a malicious, arrogant s****horpe. 8. Liverpool Ball hit Dzeko's foot first, and was promptly cleared. Hardly a goal-scoring opportunity, and just not worth whining about. 9. Liverpool hand-ball. Already discussed, a clear penalty. Had it coming with his arms stretched out like a goalie.
  6. The current arrangement is that we're sort of a pre-retirement home for big stars. Ignoring Beckham, in just the last couple years the MLS picked up Rafa Marquez, Thierry Henry, Robbie Keane, Juan Pablo Angel, and Torsten Frings. And for the past couple months there were big rumors circling about Lampard, Cisse, Rio Ferdinand, or Drogba coming over. Not that I took those too seriously, but the media was dead sure on Anelka coming to Montreal until he ended up in China.
  7. Interesting statistics, though some would be more telling by dint of a larger context. I did chuckle at the finishing stats though. The MLS is notoriously bad at that, largely because some teams don't even have coaches for it. While the quality is improving, it's still mostly a counter-attack league, for when a mid-table team dominates possession, it often does not have the passing quality to get through a 10-man defense.
  8. Recently finished Virginia Woolf's The Voyage Out (brilliant) and Jacob's Room (a bit disjointed and joyce-ish). Now just going through some Chekov short stories.
  9. Wolfsburg just spent their Dzeko money on 8 transfers. Also, Tim Ream transfers from NY to Bolton. For you brits, Americans are guffawing over this one. They say his passing his great, but he's authored the two biggest gaffes of the MLS season [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEQLPty-CsQ]Best of 2011 - Worst Gaffe - YouTube[/ame] not to mention, I can count at least four screw-ups for the national team including a gold cup match where he whiffs a clearance, kicks the panama striker and concedes a penalty. Finally, American soccer media is hugely over-hyping the Everton-Fulham match by turning it into a twilight style: Team Donovan vs. Team Dempsey rivalry.
  10. I once accidentally made fun of a kid who had a lisp.
  11. stop referring to this nonexistant 'everyone', k? thxbah
  12. complete bullshit. He knew exactly where Parker was after stepping on him the first time. His balance was perfectly fine without Modric's push, and even if Modric hadn't been there, he was falling away from Parker in a way that under no circumstances would rationalize a step like that. Any other player would have just fallen down feet away instead of kicking out at the person that they just stepped on why am I actually explaining this
  13. another sucky super-bowl between teams that I just don't care to watch, much less root for. Thank god for commercials.
  14. zing please take two steps back and **** your own face. clearly. lolwut
  15. I concur with this. More often than not all the diving/shoving antics happen midfield, whereas the goals just come from good, quality football. As far as the two teams are concerned, ever since I started following football the whole Barca tactical possession system has been the 1st wonder of the sport, whereas Madrid has never impressed me outside of just having extremely talented individuals. Usually come each clasico I lose all respect for both (apart from messi, who just doesn't go down). In fact, I was pleasantly surprised to see Madrid end up the villains, when more often it's characterized by busquets diving, and valdes sprinting the length of the pitch to get in the ref's face. And Madrid fans have? btdubs, Deuce hat trick!

  17. Could've been a lot better. As it is, its kind of a weak, directionless sigur ros imitation. The plot is too vague to sympathize with, as I had absolutely no idea what the cars were supposed to symbolize, nor what the point of the purpose of the knife, the shady guy etc. was. Plus, why were there adults at all? if they were going for the whole kids thing. Altogether kind of meh.
  18. I would have so much more faith in this working out if you didn't just use 11 different emoticons, keep changing your font color, or somehow felt the need to encourage me to watch coldplay concerts for inspiration. Advice: No one will care about this thread in 7 months, if people are interested (and I sorta coulda would be if it felt less gay) make it just over a month at the most. Also, make some parameters, like a specific song or album, or a different artist.
  19. You wouldn't, you canuck you. :snobby:
