  1. you could write a dissertation on the trend in society where one groups' acknowledgement that a song is eye gougingly awful and a direct reflection on the tragedy that pop music has become...is perceived by the media as license to make someone a celebrity and to endorse it on an artistic level simply because many people are familiar with it.

  6. Cincinnati Bengals' wide receiver Chad Ochocinco to try out for MLS club Sporting Kansas City BY Jaime Uribarri DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER Wednesday, March 16th 2011, 2:32 PM Sabo/News Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco will try out with MLS side Sporting Kansas City. He's got good hands, but is Chad Ochocinco just as skillful with his feet? The Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver will find out next week when he joins Major League Soccer club Sporting Kansas City for a four-day trial, the team announced on its website Wednesday. With the future of the 2011 NFL season in limbo, Ochocinco accepted an invitation from Sporting head coach Peter Vermes to try out for the team. "Due to the NFL lockout, I'm excited to be able to follow my childhood dream of playing for a Major League Soccer team," Ochocinco said. "Thanks to Sporting Kansas City for giving me this opportunity." Although Kansas City already has handed in its official roster for the recently begun MLS season, Vermes insists that Ochocinco still can make the squad if he impresses during his tryout, which begins on Tuesday. "We're always searching for players who can help our team and bringing in new talent," Vermes said. "We know that Chad is an exceptional athlete and that he loves the sport of soccer, and he did play a lot when he was younger." A 10-year veteran of the NFL, Ochocinco played competitively as a striker from his youth until his days at Miami Beach Senior High School. Despite abandoning the game for the gridiron, he remained a die-hard soccer fan and even formed friendships with some of the sport's biggest names. "I know a couple of guys. Ronaldinho is one of them. Thierry Henry is good friend of mine. Cristiano Ronaldo, I talk to him all the time on Twitter. We DM back and forth. Ashley Cole is a good friend of mine. I used to go watch Thierry Henry play at Arsenal every off-season," Ochocinco told SportingKC.com. Whether or not he can compete on their level remains to be seen, but Ochocinco is confident in his abilities on the pitch. "I played soccer before football, and I was good. That's where I get my quick feet – my feet are unbelievable," he said. "There's not one person in soccer right now that would beat me running, that's including Lionel Messi." After the initial, four-day test, Kansas City will decide whether to extend Ochocinco's trial period or release him. http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/football/2011/03/16/2011-03-16_cincinnati_bengals_wide_receiver_chad_ochocinco_to_tryout_for_mls_club_sporting_.html HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  7. it was crazy really. Inter scores 2 minutes in though Eto'o was offsides. Bayern should've scored 5 goals in the first half with the incredible chances that they had. Props to Inter though.
  8. who likes lolz? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZSLi8ovkSzU]YouTube - Emanuele Giaccherini EPIC FAIL Cesena vs Juventus 2-2 12/03/2011[/ame]
  9. all the songs have been uploaded by multiple people, and I haven't seen any of them taken down. *temptation* I was so-so on the free song, so I figured it was worth making sure it was worth buying. First track is growing on me 2nd time around.
  10. Been listening to the you-tube uploads...not in love with it yet. I like the new sounds they're using, but I haven't quite caught on to it as a whole.
  11. this is a great post. fur mich... I don't have high expectations for the new album. Room on Fire was meh, but FIOE, though unnecessarily long, has some seriously great tracks on it that I think you would like sifting through. Is This It is hard to compete against though simply because its pure vacuum-packed nostalgia. (i no wong ted)
  12. So late last night I came across the A-league (australia) grand final on fox soccer channel. Anyway I watched the whole thing and the end was freakishly exciting. 13. I rather be a hammer than a nail.
  14. From his story it sounded more comic than anything. But ja, stupid maxim.
  15. this just reminded me of a quote in Either/Or by kierkegaard (not the best reference seeing how it's just meant to express an aesthetic worldview which K wanted the reader to replace with an ethical view but...) which says: "Laugh at the stupidities of the world, and you will regret it. Weep over them, and you will also regret. Laugh at the stupidities of the world or you weep over them, you will regret it either way...This gentlemen, is the quintessence of the wisdom of life." At my brother's private school there was a teacher scheduled to give a chapel speech. So the guy walks up to the mic, calmly says "Just be yourself.", and walks back to his seat. :blank:
  16. When first talking about the album with friends, I almost always said 'Flying Lotus' when I meant 'Lotus Flower'. :blank:
  17. Right, in which case I'd say those people are idiots. In regard to the foul on Messi, if he was in the box, it would seem like a reason not to give the foul. Since he had already passed the ball and they were in no immediate position to score, the punishment of a PK just didn't fit the crime imo. If the referee saw Messi was a foot outside the box (in reality I think he just missed it altogether), the free kick may well have been given. It's an age old debate where no one is fully in the right...on one hand you could say a foul is a foul and nothing else should matter, on the other hand some would say that, ideally, PK's should be reserved for scenarios where the defending team is clearly and illegally preventing an obvious scoring chance near the goal, and its up the refs disgression to determine where the line is drawn. Then there are cases where a ref sees a clear foul and decides not to award it, but looks for opportunities later in the game to punish the perp. Is this fair? Not entirely sure, might depend on who you're rooting for.
  18. I don't think anyone is disputing who was the better team, or whether Arsenal could've won or scored in that particular match. The controversy is whether Arsenal w/c-ould have advanced in the tournament had they not gone down to 10 men. Despite being on the defensive the whole time, they seemed they like had succeeded in shutting out Barca in the first half until Fabregas' stupid back-pass right at the end of the half. They looked better to me at the beginning of the second half (though not getting shots, they were keeping more posession across the midfield), and with 30 minutes to go arsenal were in position to win the aggregate with a 1-1 draw. Of course I agree that Barcelona is the better team, that they controlled play the whole game, that the own goal was a fluke, and that between both legs Barcelona clearly deserved to advance more...but it is very plausible (if not probable) that Arsenal would have advanced had Van Persie not been given that ridiculous red card seeing how Barcelona had a much easier time on the attack after the sending off.
  19. AH DUNT GET IT
  20. Not a convincing advance for Spurs, but I'd say Milan's lackluster attacking was the headline. They had more than enough chances, but I'm not convinced they would of scored if they played an extra 45.
  21. "I'm not saying she's a golddigger, but she ain't messin' with no broke ******." 56 translations later we get: "I can not sleep, but Jesus."
