The first 10 years of the MLS were pretty lame because it was unclear which teams were dominant. But now there's the beckham rule which lets owners pay a couple big players like Marquez, Angel, and Henry loads of money, but the team still fits under the salary cap. Since some teams don't even have enough money to consider buying players of that caliber, the wealthier clubs (and clubs that generate the most revenue) get a leg up. As of last season it seems that the MLS might have a consistent big 4 consisting of LA, NY, Seattle and Salt Lake. Still waiting for a relegation system though...Premiership has more depth though.
