Artist vs. Artist Game...
Coldplay City and Colour vs. Coldplay

if you see this album cover, run.
I couldn't agree more. Just because a band takes more of a mainstream approach doesn't necessarily mean their music is complete garbage. We all know it's no Parachutes or A Rush of Blood, but I think it was completely unfair of her to bash a band that doesn't sell less than 1,000 copies because no one knows of them.

Unlike most Coldplayers, I took the time to read the blog as it intrigued me. I'd imagine most long-time fans here would admit this album is no Parachutes or A Rush of Blood to the Head, however, it's far from rubbish. But I must give her credit. She did succeed in what most journalists aim for in the long run: garnering an audience.

Cristiano Ronaldo: I do not need Ferguson
Rooney deserved to be sent off, regardless of what you think. Don't forget that Rooney is a hot-head before you hold a grudge.

VLVODAAHF VS In Rainbows
If you looked, you would've noticed I haven't had LastFM for very long. I've been listening to Radiohead and Coldplay since the turn of the century. Believe me, songs from Kid A and OK Computer have upwards to 60 plays each on my iTunes alone! That's not including all the times I would listen to it almost all the way through and then switch the song. I can appreciate that you are a huge Radiohead fan, but it just doesn't float my boat as much as it used to.

VLVODAAHF VS In Rainbows
Radiohead is the second most played band on my LastFM profile. You think I haven't given them a fair chance? I used to be a strong Radiohead fan, however, once the "wow" factor wore off, I realized that the music is recycled and reused, and the song's magic is completely lost.

ColdPlay, Cold Play, Cold-Play, etc
"The band that does that song called 'Clocks'". That pisses me off too.

VLVODAAHF VS In Rainbows
A general Radiohead song is extremely repetitive. I find a lot of their musical concepts to be very well thought out but to be executed very poorly. For example: House of Cards, more or less the same riff for 5 minutes. I'm sorry, but their music has little replay value. Not to say that VLV is even close to Coldplay's best, but it is superior to In Rainbows.

Coldplay Fan Survey (it will only take a minute)
1) First related Coldplay memory? Seeing the 'Yellow' video on TV and hating it. Then, a month later, on my birthday, hearing 'Yellow' in Music World and buying the CD on impulse 3 days after it came out. 2) Have you ever seen the band live in concert, if so where? No such luck. 3a) Favorite Coldplay album? Parachutes, of course! b) Favorite Coldplay song? Yellow c) Favorite Coldplay video? Yellow 4) Most treasured Coldplay item in your collection? My CDs. Don't really own a whole lot of anything else Coldplay related. 5) What was your craziest fanatic moment regarding Coldplay (ie. did you have to go at great lengths to see them live? did you do something really dramatic to defend Coldplay? etc etc.) I haven't done anything crazy, just devoting many, many hours (8 years worth) to listening to Parachutes, among the other 3 albums and many b-sides.

Tokyo Police Club (please listen!!)
A Lesson In Crime is great! These guys are from a city not too far from mine so I've been following them since A Lesson In Crime. Great band. And to answer the question. No link to Tokyo. It was just a lyric on one of their songs that they liked so they named their band it.

Tokyo Police Club (please listen!!)
One of my favorite indie bands. If you like the Arctic Monkeys, you'll love these guys. If you like them, pick up a copy of their debut LP Elephant Shell. http://www.myspace.com/tokyopoliceclub

A Tribe Called Quest
Not a problem. Tell me which ones you like and maybe I can get some more stuff for you, if you want, of course.
-
A Tribe Called Quest
Well I'll start with a few then. I added you on LastFM, so maybe you could see a few artists I have on there. Anyways, I'd start with: Showbiz & A.G. - Goodfellas (you might not like the mid-90s N.Y. feel, but worth a shot) Nas - Illmatic (mid-90s N.Y., lots of swearing but usually it's story-telling stuff) Common - Resurrection (produced by Kanye's mentor) K-OS - Exit; Atlantis (kind of hip-hop, kind of a mix of everything else) Big L - Lifestylez Ov Da Poor & Dangerous (content warning, but very clever MC) Black Star - Black Star (Mos Def & Talib Kweli, their early work) Plenty more where that came from. That's pretty much a taste of a bunch of different styles.

A Tribe Called Quest
Well are you really opposed to profanity and potentially violent content? Some of the stuff I listen to can be pretty graphic, but the wordplay is incredible. Just let me know if that bothers you and I'll recommend accordingly.

A Tribe Called Quest
Recommendations: Low End Theory Midnight Marauders Classic albums. I'm an old school hip-hop head, so if you like that stuff I've got tons more stuff I could recommend to you.
