Ah. I'm assuming you're from Nova Scotia? I'm from Ontario. Yeah, Violet Hill was wrecked, at least for me, with the psychedelic guitars. If you replace that with something else, I'm sure it would've been a much better song.

There's a difference between mainstream sounding and actual mainstream. There are certain bands who can be considered mainstream and have a more indie sound, ala Coldplay.

They wrote a song that will sell. Plain and simple. I have a feeling this song will attract Nickelback, and other mainstreamers to the realm of Coldplay. Personally, I just hope this is a one-time deal for them and the rest of the album is more indie.

I have to agree - to an extent. I wish they'd stick more to their old formula; or at least to the last 30 seconds of the song. I thought the lyrics were quality, but what the hell is with the guitar style? Sounds like Coldplay's selling out a bit...

I'm not a huge fan of the power-quarter note and heavy guitar riffs. I know I'll probably take heat for the fact that I don't jump on Coldplay's nuts every time they do something, but I'm just not a fan. It's a little too country for me. I do, however, like the last... 30 seconds or so. Quieter, more ballad-like music suits Coldplay far more.

It's just not that good. The whole Viva La Vida theme is a little too fruity for me anyways. I'm sure the music will be good, but I'd much prefer a more darker aproach, ala Death and All His Friends.

To be honest, I prefer the homemade one that Lore made.

What does the album cover have to do with the Viva La Vida theme? I was really hoping they'd come up with a better album name and cover, but I guess as long as the music is good. Besides, the album will always be known as Death & All His Friends in my eyes.

House of Cards is just a little too boring for me. There isn't a whole lot musically going on for me in that song. I just feel they've picked two of the worst three songs on the album for singles.

Maybe an hour? Quality set though. Got in for $15. Got my copy of Elephant Shell on Tuesday, and I must say it's extremely quality.

Finally, another Tokyo Police Club fan! I have a feeling it could just be us chatting in here, but it's alright. The new album is by far my favorite of 2008, and I'd say my favorite track is Nature Of The Experiment. They played it when I saw them live, I was so fucking happy.

I can't believe there isn't already a thread about these guys. In honor of their first full length LP, Elephant Shell which hit stores today, I've decided to start one. There has to be fans out there!
