How do I learn what the Viva tour was like?
The thing of it is, even if they wanted it to be the same, it would still be different. You simply can't completely re-create the past, and there will always be small differences that will make some people feel the grass used to be greener.

IMHO, VLV is their only song I'd consider to be truly Baroque Pop. (though several other songs on VLVODAAHF come close in style.)

What's your LEAST favourite Coldplay song??
Chinese Sleep Chant may be my favorite Coldplay song. It's got a cool My Bloody Valentine vibe going on.

Yes, but we still don't know how far into this week it will be.:\

True, but as I've said a few times above, the band are also at a point in their career where they're both finacially secure, and have accomplished about as much as is possible for a band to accomplish. At this point, their only real incentive to make music is that they simply enjoy making music, and that being the case, it's entirely likely that their music will continue to reflect their personal desires and tastes as opposed to being structured to meet any outside expectations.

I'm not sure it's so much about them wanting to grow as it is about them simply not liking their older music as much as some of their fans seem to. All four band members have been on record at various times over the years at saying (essentially) that they don't care all that much for many of the songs from Parachutes. I think they simply don't like that sound very much.

I'm pretty sure Chris' actual wedding was an elopement. I'm not sure anyone else would've been there. Nonetheless, I really think Chris just tends to be in the States sometimes when the others have personal stuff going on back in the UK. I know he has missed a few other personal events for that reason.

How do I learn what the Viva tour was like?
Very true. It's kind of like how X & Y is now often lumped into Coldplay's "classic era", when at the time, it was given an even more mixed reception than MX got.

How do I learn what the Viva tour was like?
I really don't get what people are talking about when they say Viva shows were less gimmicky. Honestly, it seems like most of the current live gimmicks are lifted wholesale from what they did before.

How do I learn what the Viva tour was like?
Really? Like I said above, I've never found him to be one of those frontmen who engages in long banters with his audience. Honestly, I've always felt that Coldplay have had some of the fastest transitions of any live band I've ever seen.

Festivals are indeed often rushed. A lot of festivals have very strict cut offs for performance times (even for headliners), so bands do often tend to cram as much as they can into their slot.

Will and Jonny seem to be quite close these days. Not that all the boys aren't mates, but in all the recent liveblogs, photo shoots, interviews etc. It always seems like Jonny and Will are hanging out together. It seems they especially bond over being the two big football guys in the group. As far as Chris, he does split his time between the UK and America more than the others (mostly due to his family I imagine.), so maybe he couldn't have fulfilled all the responsibilities of best man.

I'm not sure I agree with this. Coldplay have never been a band with a lot of stage patter or other slowdown between songs IMHO.

How do I learn what the Viva tour was like?
Those were the only two covers so far as I'm aware. They have covered Fight for your right to party on this tour, and Chris did snippet Rehab at some of the festival shows last year, which is pretty much the same as what they did with Billie Jean.

How do I learn what the Viva tour was like?
The quality of the Melbourne show is the best non pro shot concert footage I've ever seen. Bar none. Honestly, though, I don't think the Viva tour was really all that different from what they're doing with their shows now, or even what they did before. I know that seems to be a minority viewpoint on this thread, but I've been going to the band's gigs since 2002, and they tend to reuse the same live gimmicks once they've developed them (and I'm not saying that in a bad way). Confetti, lasers, balloons, playing in the crowd, it was all there. I'm not sure what people mean when they say there was "less" of that before TBH. (though to be fair, so far, I've only seen the festival version of the current show.)

"Big Coldplay announcement due next week"
True, but they've more or less been talking the exact opposite of a break recently, and it's weird that they'd announce a hiatus in the middle of a major tour. If the announcement came at the end of the tour, then I could see that being the case.

The camera is on Chris when he throws it, and then in the long shot, you can see it come down in the middle of the X.

"Big Coldplay announcement due next week"
two things: 1. Modern ComiCon has been so taken over by non (or marginally) comics related big media ventures, that it's par for the course these days and 2. ComiCon is not for "geeks", it's for those of us who realize just how cool comics, animation and action figures truly are.:D

:laugh3: Seriously though, it seems like he does make an effort to throw it in a somewhat controlled way.

You can see it pretty clearly in the Unstaged video.

He mostly throws it straight upward so it usually just lands on the X stage.

If anything breaks, it's probably the neck, which being a standard bolt on Fender, can be easily swapped out. I've heard of cases where Fender supplies major touring artists with a bulk order of spare necks so they can smash/repair guitars. The guts on a Tele Deluxe are usually pretty solid.
