  1. If you're talking about professional critics, I'd say the album (in the words of metacritic) has recieved mixed to positive reviews. It certainly wasn't slagged as much as X and Y was when it came out.
  2. Actually, that's not too bad for any desirable part of London. (sad as that may be.)
  3. I don't know that they're quite that iconic. They're not even the most iconic band of the brit pop generation (though they're undoubtedly close to the top.) I think they probably just wanted to add a britpop band to the bill, and Blur is the only one still together.
  4. Better start saving now. It's one of the most expensive streets in the most expensive part of London.
  5. I don't think it's possible to say with any certainty that there will be any additional dates until they're announced. It seems to me like they're following the method of many large bands (notably u2), where they play many multiple night stands in major markets while skipping over smaller or mid sized markets.
  6. All of Coldplay's acoustic guitars live are run through a custom made D/I, so the sound you are hearing is the clean feed from the guitar fed directly to FOH. The actual pickup on the guitar has no effect on the sound from FOH, so even if you get the same guitar/pickup it won't be the same tone without a D/I box and some way to mix it.
  7. His drumming is always mostly snare and kick. Nothing he's done, great as it may be is especially complex by drumming standards.
  8. I've been paying a lot closer attention to Will's drumming lately, and I'm curious about something. Are there any songs where he plays substantially on the toms? He never seems to play tom fills, only the snare. I never noticed that about his drumming style until recently.
  9. He seems to have a lot of string breaking/tuning issues. I personally think it's because he doesn't have his strings changed every night (unlike most pros on that level), especially now that he's using Strats as the tremolo system puts more tension on the strings.
  10. To be fair, he did break a string on that one.
  11. Sadly, not online. I'm not so good about getting off my butt and uploading things and whatnot, and with work commitments and other assorted nonsense, I haven't actually gigged for several years now. Mostly it's just me trying to 8th not my way through the bass parts of U2 songs in my bedroom these days.
  12. Actually I'm personally pretty much on the side of doing what you have to to actually make your instrument a working one that holds tune and whatnot., a lot of vintage pieces are actually a pain if you want to use them as day to day musical instruments.
  13. I believe it's a Martin 000C-16RGTE
  14. What makes it worse, is that some of Coldplay's painted instruments are vintage!:o (JB's black MX tele is a vintage 70's one and I think some of his strats are too, because you can see the laquer(sp) coming off the neck of some of them.) Moding a vintage guitar can get you beaten up in some circles.:laugh3:
  15. I miss the plain unpainted guitars myself. Guitars are beautiful enough on their own. :D
  16. I used to work for a mid sized venue (around 1500 capacity). A lot of bands we worked with said it was actually more nerve wracking to play a smaller venue than a huge outdoor festival or something, because they could actually see the crowd in our venue, whereas in other situations it became something of a faceless mass.
  17. I used to know the model number. I'll see if I can dig it up. I do know that that particular model has been discontinued.:(
  18. May I ask what you play. I'm a bassist of somewhat limited skill, and an even less skillful guitarist. :laugh3:
  19. Are you a musician?
  20. That's just a rumor, it's not confirmed that he ever actually had surgery (at least to my knowledge.) Personally, I think any difference in his vocals is probably mostly due to the fact that his current performance style doesn't provide him with good breath support.:\
  21. Even though the choice of single may be seen as something of an artistic failure (depending on your point of view). I really can't say I fault the band for making the choice they did. Paradise is their 2nd most successful single ever in the UK, so it did work out for them in the end. And I gotta say Paradise is more indicative of MX as a whole than Charlie Brown, so if that's what they were going for, I think they made the right call there too.
  22. All of their back catalog is still doing pretty well, especially whenever they release new material.
  23. Not exactly unkown (at least in the UK), nor pop, but at the moment, I'm digging Benjamin Francis Leftwich. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l6N3jUDKzq0]'Pictures' Official Video (HD) - Benjamin Francis Leftwich - YouTube[/ame]
  24. No doubt due to the highly erotic nature of the music video.:laugh3:
