  1. From some interview they did for Canadian TV. There's a seperate thread about it.
  2. Again though, those expecations are personal, and no one can say with certainty if it will be "worth it" to someone else. I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just that it's hard to put a universal set of expectations on something like this. What's worth the money to me, may not be worth it to you. By all means, have whatever expecations you want, just keep in mind they're your expectations. As I've said before, anyone who posts here should have a real clear idea of what a Coldplay show is like (many of the critisisms have been longstanding) and factor that infomation in when deciding if it's worth it, to them, to buy tickets.
  3. The scary thing is, I'm not 100% sure:laugh3:
  4. I was wondering what changed. Way to go Ian!:D
  5. He looks very confident in this one:smug:
  6. He probably would do something (assuming he could hear you.):laugh3:
  7. From everything I've heard, it's a fun and rewarding experience to be an oxfam volunteer. As far as going to both shows, if a condition of your enjoyment is that the two shows be substantially different, then you'll likely be disappointed, otherwise, go for it!:D
  8. It just something he does to work the crowd. Like shouting "hello (insert town the gig is in)!" or mentioning a local sports team.
  9. It's not the way it's done in the clip (or the way JB does it), but you could use a sustainer (or an ebow) to make the notes sustain that long, but both of those are expensive options.
  10. they haven't shortened the playlist (at least not appreciably). While it is true that the Euro stadium gigs and a handful of shows at the very end of the north american tour had 22-24 songs, most of the arena dates had 19-20 (and that counts Lit which the band didn't really play as well as extremely short songs like Postcards from far away. I really don't think even their longer sets were actually that much longer time wise though. There's a Youtube video of the full concert from one of the 2009 stadium gigs that runs about 1:45 start to finish. As to whether the length of the concert is worth the money, only you can answer that for yourself.
  11. There's no one single U.S. "airplay list", so I'm not sure what you're talking about. :\ Anyway it did better than many of their late campaign singles in the past, so while it wasn't exactly a success, I'm not sure it was a "flop". It wasn't even released to many of the formats where Coldplay have historically done well in the U.S.:dozey: EDIT: To clear up some confusion here, while it hasn't been released as a commercial single, it was released for radio play in a few formats on 4/17. The highest format it's charted in so far is Pop at #20.
  12. Is they guy with them some sort of football player or something, or is he just some random guy?
  13. Some people last year were claiming theirs were triggered by vibration or humidity, but I'm not sure. I'd guess certain wireless frequencies could also set them off, since that's how they're controlled.
  14. IMHO there's a diference between aspects of your appearence you can't change (baldness), and ones you can (janky facial hair):laugh3: And I say that as a guy who insists on having a beard, even though I'm not genetically predisposed to growing a decent looking one (it's seriously lopsided, as the right side of my face simply will not grow nearly as much hair as the left.)
  15. That's often the case for arena shows. Often, the production can't be 100% the total amount of floor available until they load in. They're also likely releasing venue/band/promoter comps that were unused at the last minute.
  16. The hair was ok (I guess) but that mustache was a close second to the grizzly adams/ZZ top beard on the list of questionable Jonny Buckland grooming choices. I can't believe Chloe lets him get by with some of that stuff.:laugh3:
  17. I didn't mean to imply that the video wasn't from that period. Sorry if I was confusing.:embarrassed:
  18. It would be almost impossible to fully replecate his tone as he uses a ton of gear, both pedals and rack mounted to acheive his sound. However, this setlist from the twisted logic era: Indicates at that time he was using a Boss RV3 Reverb pedal, RAT distortion, and some sort of rack gear (probably a delay), though not nessacarily(sp) all at the same time.
  19. Based on his hair, beard and hatless-ness, I'd say it's from 2005-6. It's not from South America because he had bushy hair and the 70's cop show mustache at that point.
  20. U2 did scale back certain elements of the 360 production to accomodate certain venue resrictions. I believe there was a fair amount of controversy over their croke park gigs not actually having fans all around the stage. I'm sure they'll have to alter the production somewhat to play the bowl, but they may well come up with something different yet still cool. Knowing this band, they'll certainly try to come up with something. There was probably some logistical reason they had to go with the Hollywood Bowl. Maybe no other suitable venues were available on the needed dates.
  21. So Jonny won't even go hatless these days while playing football?:P
  22. LP6

If anything, MX is to Coldplay what Zooropa is to U2. I really don't think Coldplay have much interest in their early style anymore, all the guys have said as much in various interviews.
  23. As far as I'm concerned, you're officially redeemed.:laugh3:
  24. I think the "three spares" rule only applies to amps and stuff. I've seen detailed pictures of his setup on the Viva tour and he has 2 of each make as far as guitar (except for the Teles.) Personally, his old beaten up Jazzmaster is my favorite. That thing's got some character.
  25. Thanks, I'm here through thursday, 2 shows a day.:laugh3:
