You have answered your own question. 'Pop music' derives from 'Popular Music' - 'Pop' isn't actually a genre, it's just descriptive word which brands high grossing artists- which just so happens to generally be over produced manufactured artists. It's a sad state of affairs but unfortunately Coldplay are super poppy, based on both reputation and on musical direction. It doesn't mean that we're not allowed to love them though, right? :)

I just went to check iTunes to see if they'd put it up early, and they had! couldn't believe it. anyway, Listened to it with my iBeats headphones so it would be crystal clear and I actually really like it. It's definitely different- I don't understand it as a choice for the new single, I don't think it's necessarily a 'single' but it's definitely going to grow on me. oh, also - People saying 'it's not like fix you, or the scientist...' go listen to fix you, or the scientist? it's a totally different direction and that should be welcomed. If they fell back on old tricks- they'd have fizzled out and they wouldn't be where they are today.

It sounds great. I'm not really a fan of Rhianna's stuff but I have to admit that I bought 'Russian Roulette' off iTunes because I was on a long bus journey and it was stuck in my head... look, all bad excuses for me having paid for her music aside- I think we should wait and see instead of jumping to the conclusion that it will suck balls. She has a great voice, and if the lads got her to sing 'differently' - as chris puts it- to suit the song, then I'm very much open to that interpretation.

First listen I wasn't impressed - not because it's bad, It's only a 30 second preview for chrissakes - but because It's not what I was expecting. I think your expectations can do that when something is so built up. however, upon a few more listens I actually really really like it, and can't wait to hear more. Really surprised it hasn't leaked this close.

in comparison to 90% of the rest of the album? I think so. It's just my opinion. I'm not forcing it on anybody like some people like to do here. I also preferred 'A Whisper' live. but not LP version so much/

actually, contrary to belief, Debs didn't deny that it wasn't the legit 'back-of-the-cover-tracklisting' that has been making the rounds on social networking sites (mainly Tumblr)- she just said it wasn't official. As in - hasn't been OFFICIALLY unveiled. I'm going to be a bit left wing and say I think it's legit. EDIT: this is the one I mean -

Whoever edited this is fantastic. It's obviously taken from a live performance but they've absolutely pulled all the noise out of the parts and emphasised them to give us a clearer idea of how the final mix might sound without the crowd.

Some people are getting a bit carried away. EMI are releasing the Album Artwork and Title. If they were going to release the Tracklisting, they would have said so. I think the final track listing will be released on Coldplay.com by the band themselves or by Phil, when it has finally been decided.
