  1. ^^ have you listened to any of their other albums?
  2. i didnt see anything particularly wrong with Favourite Worst. yeh it did lack the 'wow' factor. but i was listening to itjust last night. and its still a very enjoyable listen. now if you're comparing it to the debut then yeah its not that great.
  3. great stress reliever. nice way to get over 10hrs of studying microeconomics.
  4. now isnt that beautiful. almost as beautiful as Taster's ellipses.
  5. ok ladies take my hand and i'll show down this path of psychadelic prog rock best place to start is Dark Side of the Moon. start to finish!! there is only one way to appreciate these guys and that is listening to their albums in full. from there you can either listen to The Wall or Wish You Were Here both very accessible and brilliant. stand out tracks like Run Like Hell and Mother and shitloads of other across both records. strawberryfields, pink floyd wont be too much of a shock to your system as you've listened to a fair bit of sigur ros.
  6. i always prefer listening to music thats opposite of the mood that im in. i turned to vampire weekend and mgmt last summer when things weren't going that great for me. yellowy eyes, hope you start to feel better very soon.
  7. its a great album i would never disagree with that. but its just those sax solos that kill it for me.
  8. 1. The Wall 2. Wish You Were Here 3. Meddle 4. Animals 5. Dark Side i'm not too familiar with the rest so i cant choose.
  9. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h6TIEkB4_F8]YouTube - Beatles - Twist & Shout (live in 65)[/ame] not epic? you have got to be kidding me.
  10. personally i'm not a huge fan of Dark Side its well down on my list of fave Pink Floyd albums. i would go as far as to say that its a little overrated :o i understand that that word is a little taboo around here nowadays hehe.
  11. i've slagged off kings of leon alot in the last 18 months but i found this video on youtube. and it really impressed me. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zVG14DAOl38]YouTube - Kings Of Leon - The Bucket Live[/ame] hey mate how did i go with the double post? some constructive criticism on my performance would be appreciated.
  12. ^^ nice to see you've found the full stop key on your keyboard. always a tough one to reach. you sort have to bring down your ring finger in an awkward way to push it. i admire your expertise in this area, i hope one day the rest of us can achieve such greatness. i'm also very jealous of your ability to shamelessly double and triple post.
  13. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvtT0fzItYw]YouTube - Talk show host - Radiohead[/ame] radiohead are at their best when they're angry.
  14. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uLJ_QVfT_wM if people watch/listen to that and still say that you can't compare floyd to the beatles. then im not here (in my best thom singing voice) here is how i see it Beatles = Most influential band of all time (double tracking, heavy distortion, video clips, stadium shows, 'the pop song'.......the sitar?!??) Rolling Stones = Biggest band of all time -cos they said so. if you disagree listen to Forty Licks. Led Zeppelin = Greatest band of all time - there will never be another musical ensemble as perfect as them. U2 = the last of the megabands. shows you dont need to be up to ur eyeballs in drugs to write some good music. each of the bands i've mentioned can never ever be overrated regardless of how much music rags and critics kiss their arse. the contribution each of them have made to modern music is unmatched and their influence will live on forever. you will not find a single artist/band in the world who wouldn't state one of them as a major influence. and since when were The Killers rated?? their last couple of albums got absolutely hammered by the critics!! to me the The Killers are the Bon Jovi's of the 21st century. great to jump to and sing along with but thats about where it ends.
  15. ^^ hahhhahaa. its easier to talk about albums that have a short name. this would have to be my most antipated album of the year so far alongside Muse's new one.
  16. nice to have a Mod who is into placebo. good work Gitta Rensolo!! if theres anyone trying to get into placebo nothing beats their compilation Once More With Feeling and their live dvd Soulmates Never Die. i love a band who puts a bit of thought into their titles.
  17. ^^ you can never like too much music.
  18. i've said this before and i'll say it again I LOVE METRIC!! i've been watching their videos lately and how freken HOT IS emily haines. she better watch out when they tour down here in october. fan-boy-groupie-number -one right here. :D i'll just pretend she isnt double my age. maybe we should have a "Emily Haines 'Fantasies' thread".
  19. have the white stripes come up yet? on most music forums they are one of the first bands brought up because of the massive critical acclaim they have received over the last decade or so. i'm waiting for someone to mention them so i can lay it into them. :) overrated and underrated are words that have always confused me. is it based purely on what critics say? or are we also including commercial success ie album sales, radio airplay and chart success. please someone explain and if anyone mentions RHCP or Pearl Jam i will hunt you down and kill you :laugh3:
  20. ANIMAL COLLECTIVE Live in Prague October 2008 http://www.megaupload.com/?d=U7LIB5JF - 45MB (45mins) Recorded by the European Broadcasting Union exclusively for Triple J.
  21. what U2 bashing? i absolutely love U2!! they're the biggest band in the world and imo the last of the megabands. so i think its fair game to poke a little fun at them. none of us are putting down their music (not that i know of at least) and they deserve every bit of success that has come their way. i've always said that if coldplay become even half the band that U2 is. it will be a miracle. and of course neither band could ever lay a finger on Radiohead.
  22. At their Club Ciudad show in Buenos Aires, Argentina on March 24 the band along side Kraftwerk and others sold a total of 33 177 tickets out of the 35 500 available. The total revenue was $US2,296,317.
  23. and those expensive dinner with world leaders. http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/2009/jun/01/u2-new-labour - a very interesting article on U2. i dont agree completely but its a good read lets not forget U2 giving their very charitable middle finger to the environment. 120 trucks carrying 3 massive stages all over the world.
  24. how are the Yeah Yeah Yeahs doing commercially in europe and north america?? down here in aus they are starting to get some mainstream radio airplay which i think is pretty cool. if this album doesnt give them their breakthrough. i dont know what will!!
  25. ^^ don't ask her. watch it yourself. the entire gig is up on youtube. type in: placebo pinkpop 2009. they are sounding better than ever imo
