well Is This It is one of the best things to come out of NY in the last 12yrs. cant say the same about their 2nd and 3rd records.

arhghghg i hate it when bands put their faces on the album cover!! very un-alternative haha.

i'm feeling very pessimistic about this Dead Weather project, from all the live footage i have seen nothing has even remotely impressed me. i'll still get the album the day it comes out but i think Jack White has pushed it a bit too far. He has two great bands going already and he would be far better of focussing on them. But, if Jack pulls this off then his credibility will go through the roof. how many rockstars in music history have had 3 successful bands, simultaneously!!

Achtung baby mocked grunge? really??!?? it came out november 1991. and the song that launched Grunge into the mainstream was smells like teen spirit and that didnt become popular until very late 1991. i fail to see any possible connection.......

Led Zeppelin <- greatest group of musicians to ever form a band. that fact will never change. The Beatles <- an influence on every genre under the sun not just rock The Who <- one of the first classic rock bands i ever liked. easily the best live band ever. Pink Floyd <- they have some classic rock songs but there is alot more to them than just that. they really perfected the art of making an album Jimi Hendrix <-greatest guitarist of all time. NO ARGUMENTS The Doors <- an awesome band and jim morrison can turn on a straight man Jethro Tull <- dont know much The Eagles <- didnt really achieve much aside from Hotel California. America <- decent band Creedence Clearwater <- a very interesting rock n roll story on how they got ripped off. a very talented group Cat Stevens <- not exactly Bob Dylan but still a legend. Rolling stones <- Biggest Rock Band of All Time. Forty Licks is the ultimate compilation cream <- the band that made Clapton famous, that was the trend for most of his career blind faith <- who? derek and the dominos <- same story as Cream METALLICA <- an incredible band, will be remembered as a great metal band but they've made some great genuine rock songs. Enter Sandman. Pearl Jam <- the raw honest down to earth band you will ever come across. one of my favourites and deserve alot more than they get Queen <- More glam rock than classic rock but hard to get past the brilliance of Freddie Mercury Dire Straits <- a band i appreciate alot. awesome music

where are Pearl Jam's first 3 albums. Ten and Vs and Vitalogy. all 3 of those are superior to most of the albums on that list.

*raises hands in submission* i have been proven wrong. this album is pretty awesome maybe not the best aussie album of the year but its bloody good. they have a bit of decoder ring in them. a solid 7.5/10 from me :)

^^ is that all you like? cos they basically use that same formula throughout the album (making it a good "album") so i would of imagined if you like 3 or 4 songs you most probably dont mind the rest. but hey we're all different! i love it all except Blake's Got A New Face aka One (well technically the other way around) and Bryn got a little annoying after a while.

alot of love for U2. ............. i know that not everyone listens to as much music as i (and some people on this forum) do. but i cant help but feel that the fact that neither coldplay nor radiohead have released an album this year and muse aren't releasing until september has something to do with everyone listening to fewer albums. have some people taken a little break from music this year? or is June a little early to start choosing the best albums from this year??

im always amazed at the type of people who love metallica. the other day this guy got to choose 5 songs to play on the radio. he chose lady gaga fall out boy and techno thing and Enter Sandman. i have some friends who only have rnb and hip hop on their ipods plus 6 or 7 metallica songs. yes they are heavy and loud and yes they are metal/hard rock but their music is very straightforward and relatively easy on the ears. and who doesnt like a good headbang!

does everyone know that they are re-broadcasting Eskimo Joe's One Night Stand performance on triple j monday night at 8pm for Live at the Wireless. it will be replayed again on sunday at 5pm. this would be a good time to maybe do a higher quality recording. no news yet on a television broadcast of the event. Triple JTV concert series starts in july.

i guess they think they can stir up alot of attention by flogging the life out of Sweet Disposition. having heard about half of the album so far, sweet disposition is heads and shoulders above everything else. triple j has hardly supported this band and i think thats going to make it alot harder for them to make the big time. they chose the new Gossip album over temper trap as the feature album of this week.

here is a band that i'm very very excited about. i dont think anybody else has mentioned them on this thread and if you have then *high five*. They are called The Big Pink and they're basically what you would call a Shoegazer band much like Silversun Pickups with alot of Smashing Pumpkins influence and even a bit of Pink Floyd in them. I've really only heard 2 songs but i'm hooked.
