  1. my theory always has been. having a lot of great songs on the same album can be a bad thing in these polls. cos instead having all the fans vote for the one song you have that same group of fans voting for a number of songs in turn giving each song fewer votes. and to get really picky haha. the two polls are quite different. one is run by richard kingsmill and voted on predominantly by people who listen to his show every night sunday. so about 15 000 or so people. the hottest 100 countdown attracted 155 000 votes this year. predominantly people who listen to the station once or twice a week. while we're talking AF and hottest 100. before this countdown they had only ever had 1 song ever in the hottest 100. which is incredible considering how popular they are. The Suburbs at #58 is the best they've ever done.
  2. Rafa out. i don't mind that he is out but i really wish it could've been cos the other guy beating him fair and square not due to an injury.
  3. i think through most of 2008 and a bulk of 2009 i would have triple j on around 8 to 10hrs a day. so i was a really dedicated listener. without them i dont think i would love music as much as i do now.
  4. ooo awesome. i remember my first hottest 100. it was the 2007 edition. in all honesty i actually had only been listening to triple j for about 2 months at that stage so i didnt recognise a lot of what i was hearing but i sure did learn a lot. i'm slowly drifting away from triple j. i think every aussie music fan goes through a little phase with the station at some stage of their lives. you spend a few years listening to them religiously, learn as much as you can about the alternative music world and then find your own way after that.
  5. the record is 52. set twice. in 2006 and initially in 1999. 51 is a brilliant effort and shows that triple j are doing an incredible job of supporting australian music. they are an institution in this country and something all aussie music fans should be very proud to have as a part of our music scene. tomorrow is another big day for the station. they'll hopefully be broadcasting live sets from the big day out. now im not sure whether that means live performances broadcast a few hours late. full sets or just a song or two? we'll find out tomorrow.
  6. Post No.500 :D No.1 song for 2010. Big Jet Plane by Angus & Julia Stone.
  7. No.499 No.2 Rock It - Little Red and i think we now know who the No.1 is. haha
  8. no.498 No.3. Dance The Way I Feel. RIP Charles :(
  9. no.497 i really hope you are mate. i loved birds of tokyo up to this album but they've completely lost me Boy&Bear in at no.5 with their brilliant cover of Fall At Your Feet. no complaints here.
  10. whoops miscalculated. this is actually no.496 soooo happy cee lo green didnt get no.1!!
  11. Runaway has come in at No.14 in Triple J's Hottest 100 for 2010, the biggest annual music poll in the world. Monster came in at No.78.
  12. no.494 MA BOI YEEZY!! good to see him right near the top of the hottest 100 with runaway. could Power possibly make it even higher?
  13. this is my 493rd post on here! so i would love to announce the no.1 song on my 500th if you guys dont mind and just as i write this. my tip for the no.1 is up already! at no.15 is duck sauce and barbara streisand can anything beat cee lo green?
  14. this is my 493rd post on here! so i would love to announce the no.1 song on my 500th if you guys dont mind and just as i write this. my tip for the no.1 is up already! at no.15 is duck sauce and barbara streisand can anything beat cee lo green?
  15. wow jezabels in at no.16! gotta be one of the highest ranks ever for a band who dont even have an album out. but that will probably be beaten by duck sauce in a few minutes. we're up to 43 aussie songs now. only 9 short of the all time record!
  16. over 155 000 people voted this year!! that is truly incredible for a supposedly "alternative" radio station playing non-chart music. i dont think any of the mainstream stations would ever be able to create a loyal following of that size. and im pretty sure this remains the biggest annual music poll in the world.
  17. this is what i voted for SUFJAN STEVENS - All Delighted People, CRYSTAL CASTLES - Baptism, @No.44 KANYE WEST - Monster {Ft. JAY-Z, Rick Ross, Nicki Minaj, Bon Iver}, @No. 88 JONSI - Animal Arithmetic, THE NATIONAL - England, HOT CHIP - One Life Stand, @ No. 50 GORILLAZ - Stylo {Ft. Bobby Womack and Mos Def}, @no.78 ARCADE FIRE - We Used To Wait, LCD SOUNDSYSTEM - Dance Yrself Clean, FOALS - Afterglow here is how home grown acts have gone in the past 2009 - 36 songs 2008 - 48 songs 2007 - 52 songs 2006 - 42 songs i think we've already had about 39 aussie songs so far.
  18. the thing with two door is that they had a number of minor hits this year but none that really stood out so despite being one of the biggest names in indie music this year they might not do as well as they could have had they had one huge hit and not so many minor ones. i think when they release 101 to 200 we will see a lot of their songs. very happy to see 2 DLC songs already. they've been one of my favourite aussie bands for over 3yrs now so its very pleasing to see them being so successful.
  19. i actually want Barbara Streisand to win not so much cos i love the song but more so cos i love A-Trak and Armand Van Helden. so we're almost a quarter of the way through the countdown. its been a mix of songs thats have come in lower than i expected and many im surprised made it at all. two of my top 10 have already appeared namely Stylo and Monster.
  20. Big Jet Plane and We Speak No Americano should be 2 certainties in the top 10. but i haven't listened to triple j much this year so i'm not the best judge.
  21. arghghghghh i totally forgot. life has been so crazy since i havent had the chance. but i will this weekend. i promise! im stuck in summer school all day woo! haha but i will be following it online and i will take my radio with me. i hope Barbara Streisand beats F U for the no.1 stop. seems like if you put 'fuck' in your chorus the no.1 spot is your. last year with little lion man and now with F U.
  22. would love to know what people think of the battle over londons new olympic stadium. who should get it? the struggling west ham or the over ambitious tottenham?
  23. this friday night. i have my final summer school class on friday finishing at 5. so i'm even more excited :) it has been quite the challenge becoming familiar with all this work in such a short period of time but i think the genius musicianship that will be on show that night will be the true spectacle.
  24. yeah. and why are there 7 of them!!! should've been 3 T20's and 4 or 5 one dayers.
  25. wooo it only gets better. just found out Owen Pallett will be the support act for Sufjan at the opera house!! now im seriously excited :D
