  1. i find crowd surfing to be a little silly and im always worried about getting a boot in the head from some idiot. but moshing is what i live for!! theres nothing like thousands of people jumping up and down at the same time to a great rock anthem. of course it's important to make sure you dont hurt anyone in the process but people should go into a moshpit knowing what to expect. when you are moshing you should always keep your elbows straight and close to your body so you dont knock anyone out, be careful to jump up and down on the same spot not all over the place, something i really struggle with and end up landing on peoples toes which is always quite embarrassing. also, i think girls have priority in the pit. if you're a guy (of any build) in the pit you have an obligation not to hurt or annoy girls in there and if a girl goes down or is hurt they need to be picked up asap. words of wisdom. wear comfortable shoes!!!!! the one exception to the rule above about girls is if theyre wearing heels in the pit. if you wear heels and get hurt, you were asking for it! also, pace yourself. dont mosh like a mad person for the first 3 songs then pass out in exhaustion, the best mosh opportunities usually come late in the set. oh yeah and dont get into a fight with someone who wants to go ahead of you, stand your ground and make it uncomfortable for them but if they're very persistent just let them go. my moshpit experiences have been predominantly positive to amazing. seeing muse at a rock fest back in january was a little scary at times but worked out ok. slash in august got out of hand at times but that was all part of the fun really. so basically i have nothing against a good moshpit as long as everyone behaves themselves and looks out for the people around them.
  2. ooo i saw them in support for mumford + sons and i was pretty impressed but never got around to listening to more of their music. i might do so some time over this summer.

  7. yeah totally. going without food and fuel for a couple of months because of it will make it totally worth it.......
  8. i would say part of the reason is due to the way he chose to release all his new music. with new tracks each week he never really left the minds of music fans for a large part of the year. which is basically what you want as an artist, for people to be always talking about you. that task is a little easier if your name is Kanye West.
  9. awesome!! well super december is in full swing now. but nothing out of the ordinary has happened yet. i was really anticipating some special appearances and collaborations. at the moment the only one i can envisage is jay-z at linkin park in sydney cos U2 are there at the same time and the dates dont clash. but i can imagine the promoters might be cautious about having certain bonuses at some shows and not at others.
  10. the series is all but over. australia MUST win the 2 of the next 3 tests to win back the Ashes. which means taking 40 wickets. at the moment we seem to be taking one per day.......
  11. pretty bad blow for aus too. hussey gone early in the day.
  12. lists from Clash, Spin, Under the Radar and Piccadilly Records now on the first post. the clash list is my favourite so far
  13. i think it has more to do with the violent death of nu-metal music. that brand of music is still loved by some people but deeply hated by most of the music community. linkin park were one of the very very few decent bands to come out of that era so theyre trying to disassociate themselves with that genre as much as possible. but instead of trying to continue to make heavy edgy music, maybe something like early day muse, they decided to try their hand at bland pop rock with an electro touch. what theyve ended up creating is a band with no sense of identity or direction and that is a great shame for the band that wrote Hybrid Theory.
  14. after hearing the epic shitness of Thousand Suns i actually quite like most of Minutes to Midnight. im seeing them for the first (and possibly last) time on saturday. ive been looking at the setlist they do and i like about 12-13 songs from it, so im sure it wont be all bad. but i really wish i had caught them in their early days.
  15. obviously sleep but sometimes that isnt an option. so i go for a Red Bull cos i like the look of the can :P

  17. in the decade or so i've been watching the australian cricket team this is the worst i have ever seen them. at the moment being no.5 in the world flatters us.
  18. yup top 5 aussie album fo sho.
  19. i love everything still except Blame Game and All of the Lights which feels a little incoherent because of the massive number of vocalist on it. the crispness of some of the production on this record is phenomenal.
  20. so how are y'all enjoying the album after spending a couple of weeks with it?
  21. i cant watch this anymore :(
  22. im seeing linkin park, muse, u2+jay-z in that same week which is costing me a small fortune already. if tickets had been this cheap initially i wouldve bought cheaper tickets to the other shows and got gorillaz tickets. on top of that i get my exam results on that same night so i will be feeling a little tense haha.
  23. back page of the sydney papers today
  24. i think russia will do a perfectly good job of 2018. russia is one of the biggest, most politically influential countries in the world and the world cup being the biggest sporting event in the world it is only fitting that they host it one day. but i completely understand the animosity felt by the english, the UK is the "motherland" of football and to go almost 70yrs without having a world cup there doesnt seem right. but this is the world game, and there are a lot of countries in the world who feel that they deserve to host this great event for many different reasons. but in 50yrs time when people look back at the history of the world cup, qatar 2022 will stick out like the sore thumb. how did such a small (and insignificant in the football world) nation host the biggest sporting event in the world. if they pull it off it will be spectacular, if they fail fifa will have egg all over their faces.
