great to see all the support for Australia 2022 but unfortunately money speaks louder than words. in terms of revenue and ticket sales australia will generate the least amount of money but i know for a fact that we will put on the best show just like we did in Sydney in 2000. if Qatar gets it, it will be an absolute disgrace! it will prove how little FIFA care about the game itself and how heavily influenced they are by money. i wouldnt mind USA getting it because they have put the best case forward. Japan would be "cool" i guess but it's too soon for them to host it again.

Here are the numbers AC/DC generated when they toured earlier this year. it will be interesting to see if U2 can top them. First line - Act and Venue Second line - Location Third Line - Dates 4th Line - Total Revenue in $US 5th Line - Total Tickets Sold 6th line - Total Tickets Available (this is often reduced to create the impression of a sell out)** 7th line - No. of Shows Sold out 8th Line - No. of shows performed 9th line - Ticket prices in $US ** - for example AC/DC played sydneys olympic stadium 3 nights. the first night saw 70 000, second 75 000 and final night had 66 000 totaling approx 213 000 like it says above. but as you can see we have 3 different numbers all being called "sell outs". the final night had close to 10 000 fewers fans but was still labeled a sell out. its kinda like going up to your parents and saying "hey mum n dad i got full marks in ALL of my exams" when you actually got 90 in english 100 in maths and 85 in history. industry folks often say this happens cos of different seating configurations on different nights but i find it hard to believe they would use a different configuration on each night. nevertheless i dont see U2 topping this but you never know. their numbers people might be smarter than AC/DC's.......

from what im hearing no he didnt. but ive read on twitter that people have approached a studio in melbourne and asked the security if kanye and jay-z are working inside. the security neither confirmed nor denied that. which basically means yes they are in melbourne working in that studio. of course the night isnt over yet.

thats why i pointed out that it was a compilation. shows just how incredible the reaction to the album has been. not sure how many more reviews metacritic will take into account but if it remains over 90 after 40 reviews i will be amazed. dont think we'll get Watch the Throne this year.

bit of number crunching for y'all according to metacritic Kanye's new album is averaging a score of 92/100 from 35 critics. it has the equal highest score from an album with 30 or more reviews, equaling Tom Waits' compilation Orphans which has 32 reviews. the only album to have more reviews and score 90+ is Illinois by Sufjan Stevens which scored 90 from 40 critics.

i really like that Shutterbug song. but never bothered listening to the rest of it despite the massive critical acclaim it received.

got a little bored this evening so i put all the tours of linkin park, muse, gorillaz and u2/jayz into a spreadsheet. the most interesting thing i noticed is that they are all basically using the same venues except U2. a lot of the time you have two different bands playing the same venue on back to back nights. logistically it will be a nightmare. i have dubbed the next 3 weeks as SUPER DECEMBER :D yes i know alex. i left out jack johnson but he is only do a 4 date tour playing venues mostly different to what the other 4 bands are. http://www.sendspace.com/file/8myxkq - 10kb

kanye is back in australia!! he is working on Watch the Throne with jay-z and beyonce is with them too. they're in melbourne this week and there is a strong rumour that kanye will join him on stage when he supports U2.

Bono was in Sydney on the weekend. he met with ex-PM of aus on saturday to talk aid and then spent most of his saturday night waiting in line to get a table at one of our more exclusive restaurants. then on sunday he had a seafood lunch with The Edge then in the evening he turned the Sydney Opera House red. pretty surprising he has spent so much time on the move while he has been here cos the weather has been horrible over the weekend.

wow!!! what an incredible exhibition of football. i dont know how anyone can beat them if they continue playing at this standard.

yeah test cricket can be frustrating and some what boring when one team is just pushing for a draw. but when the game hangs in the balance theres nothing more exciting. beats this bullshit T20 crap that everyones fallen in love with. bring on thursday and adelaide!

just like their support of U2 in north america last year did great things for them i think this tour of south america with them again will have a similar effect. they will start playing big stadiums down there very soon, it is inevitable.

how big are Muse in SA? do they play big venues or headline festivals over there usually?

annoyed at barca's domination but it's been a very entertaining half of football. lets hope real pulls one back early in the second half.

with the risk of sounding a little up myself i must say the 5 albums in my list are undeniably 5 of the best albums of the last few years. beats most of the stuff released in 08 and 09.
