Kanye West!
Reviews so far PopMatters - 10/10 Pitchfork - 10/10 Slant Magazine - 10/10 The Phoenix - 10/10 Entertainment Weekly - 10/10 Rolling Stone - 10/10 it's been amazing following the making of this album right from the beginning basically, through all the GOOD Fridays and leaks. far too often i have massively anticipated a new album and then been let down, it's nice when things go the other way. this may just go down as the one of the greatest hip hop albums of all time.

The Jezabels (fantastic band from Australia)
wooo yay for aus music love :D they've had a wonderful 2010 so far and will only get bigger over the next couple of years. Hurt Me has been quite the radio hit and really sets the platform for a highly anticipated debut LP. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=INaPSKmImbQ&feature=player_embedded]YouTube - The Jezabels - Hurt Me [OFFICIAL VIDEO][/ame] here is the latest from them. [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTpVrkl-bS4&feature=mfu_in_order&list=UL]YouTube - Mace Spray [OFFICIAL VIDEO][/ame] they sound a bit too much like Howling Bells for me. but thats my only criticism.

Down The Way brilliant songwriting, impeccable vocals and impressive musicianship. it is a long album but none of the tracks are filler. not only does it have great singles like Big Jet Plane and And The Boys but it works great as an album album. why shouldnt it win? Innerspeaker is better :P

^^ disagree with you on wozniacki. she loves to stand on the baseline and just pound the ball. very much a power game. dont get me wrong, i love watching her play but she doesnt have the grace of henin or clijsters.

good luck trying to convince me it's the best album of the year. having seen them live 3 times and heard most of the album on triple j i cant say i think it's album of the year quality.

its funny. when i saw cloud control supporting vampire weekend back in may the day before they released Bliss Release i never thought i would consider it as one of the best albums of the year (australian or not) i was quite underwhelmed by their music. how things change!

J Award Nominees Final List M-Phazes Angus + Julia Stone Parkway Drive Bag Raiders Birds of Tokyo Bliss N Eso Cloud Control Sia Tame Impala Washington A+J Stone might seem like favourites but i think it could be anyones this year. tame impala have been the best received internationally, washington has the widest appeal imo, Sia is the most established there and birds of tokyo have been the most successful in terms of album sales.

Kanye West!
well they featured his first 3 albums. and 808s was quite the triple j hit over the summer of 2008. i've heard Monster, Power and Runaway quite a number of times on the station. and kingsmill played 3 tracks off it last night. kanye is one of the very very few artists out there who has enjoyed both massive mainstream success but sustained popularity and respect on the alternative scene over many years and several albums. but that comes at a cost because you have alt music fans turning their nose up at him cos he's popular and mainstream fans saying "is he that gold digger guy who made swifty cry?"
-
Kanye West!
i really hope triple j feature this album. but it might be difficult as they still have another 2 weeks of ausmusic month left so they have to play aussie albums. and i fear that they fear the wrath of the indie music fan for playing a "mainstream" artist. it kills me that people base the quality of music on how popular it is rather than on its own merits.

The 2012 Motor Racing Thread (F1 & More)
Webber lead the championship for a number of months this year and our media gave him very little attention. in the days leading up to the final GP the hype started to grow. incredibly i would say the attention around him peaked this morning after he did so poorly last night. we're all very proud of his achievements this year. F1 is one of the most elite clubs in the sporting world and to be near the top of that club is quite something. australia's had a pretty shocking year sports-wise :(
