im staying away from the leak (very unlike me) but i agree that the lyrical content of some of the songs are a little WTF and off putting. usually im not bothered by swearing or explicit lyrics but some of these kanye tracks take it a bit too far. i heard Hell of A Life on the radio last night and really enjoyed it.

i was kinda hoping to pick one before the J Award but theyre announcing that in a couple of weeks time and i dont see us reaching a conclusion before then. so how about we make the deadline december 5? any later and im worried this thread might be subsumed by discussion of all the big tours going around the land.

alrighty the big day is here!! unfortunately out of the 3 main front runners webber seems the least likely now to win the title. vettel needs to hope that alonso has a shocker or pays the price for using the same engine for so many GPs. if i was put my money on someone it would have to be Vettel.

ummm i was kinda hoping that we would each list our top 3 albums of the year. and if we saw that the same album or two was on everyones list or more than one list then we would make it a finalist or whatever. might just make the whole process a little faster.

Kings of leon has recently been announced as headlining the Slane Castle Concert in 2011. it's seen as one of the pinnacles of modern rock. last few headliners include U2, Oasis, RHCP and Robbie Williams. and i was wondering how long before Muse headlines this massive event. their brand of music is so perfect and is a great place to make a live DVD.

anyone else watch the powderfinger doco on abc tonight? i watched about half over dinner and it was very entertaining and i liked it how they spent a lot of time on talking about their less documented early days. myf is very charismatic and sweet as usual and i loved it how the band come across as mature adults. im sick of bands who are in their 40s acting like theyre still 18 (im looking at you green day!) powderfinger were dressed smartly in suit jackets and neat shirts and there no rockstar gimmicks. i know the band would never admit this but i still do hold the theory that (and this is something that was brought up in the doco) they called it a day because they never quite cracked the american market after all those years and all those brilliant albums. and they see these young acts like empire of the sun and temper trap doing it in just one album (if not one song!) and it must've just killed them inside. like i mentioned a few posts back, powderfinger should be rocking arenas around the world with the music they have made but i think its humility and simple-mindedness and as i mentioned before lack of rockstar gimmicks that kind of kept them from making it big in the states.

not often i say this but i thoroughly enjoyed the commentary this morning particularly the regular snide remarks they made at city's ridiculous spending methods.

never been a big Snow Patrol fan but i randomly decided to chuck on Final Straw which ive had in my cd collection for years and years but only listened to a handful of times. and i really really like it. the music feels effortless and coherent and has this awesome simplicity to it. that was their 3rd album right? i might go try their first 2 now :D

i just realised the shear "massiveness" of the tours going around the country in december this year. just in one week alone in sydney we'll have 3 of this years glastonbury headliners, gorillaz who headlined friday night, muse who did saturday night and U2 who were meant to on the friday night. on top of that you have linkin park (the highest selling band of the last decade, yes higher than coldplay) and bon jovi doing 3 sold out nights at our footy stadium. ALL IN THE SAME WEEK! i also worked out that if you bought the best tickets to each of those 5 shows it would total over $1200. (i got sick of studying accounting so i did some concert accounting instead haha)

i ended up watching the entire thing. recognised all but maybe 2 of the songs they played in their 90min set and it was thoroughly enjoyable. if tickets to their sydney show werent so expensive i would actually consider going.
