January 5, 2010 - submitted by Anika, Germany Q. Dear Oracle, my grandfather died unexpectedly on New Year's Eve. Now I'm searching ways to deal with my sorrow. I thought that a song might help me to get on with that loss - a song that connects my grandfather and me in a way. When I want to think of him, I want to listen to one particular song that reminds me of him and that is sort of a "place" to take refuge in. Can you imagine one by Coldplay? I love their music and they're my favourite band. Can you think of an appropriate song? Happy New Year and best wishes for 2010! I think you'll find many songs at any given time could remind you of your Grandpa but if you're looking for a special one perhaps ask people what his favourite song was or choose the song played at the funeral. As far as Coldplay songs go I couldn't help but pick Death Will Never Conquer. Not because of the title but the lyrics seem fitting yet it has an upbeat melody; I don't find it all depressing.

"Maybe he'd been listening to Michael Bolton before the performance...?" There was a radio interview Chris did, I think it was a day or two before the Brits, with Chris Moyles, and during that interview, Chris Moyles said that if Chris could fit part of How Can We Be Lovers into the performance, he would give 10 pounds to charity. So, I think that is perhaps what influenced Chris to sing it. ;) Keep being your Oracle-y self! -Brooke The Oracle replies: Yes you're right Chris Moyles frequently asks celebrities to say random things during interviews on live chat shows etc. On this occasion Chris Moyles donated to charity after Chris Martin succeeded in the challenge.

Last month was a long and dark December

To be fair, Lore and I did tell everyone to send them in late November and a several very helpful Coldplayers posted details about delivery times from their local postal service, but there were still lots of people who said they were sending their cards in the middle of December! I think we sent them matches on the first weekend of November this year, Lore, but I can't remember exactly :confused: I know we did it ahead of our original schedule :smug:

I see it too! Didn't use a mirror, just tilted the screen. I was thinking maybe they wrote on the back of something... but wuold that really show up on a computer screen :confused: There's another word next to it, a longer one, but I can't make it out

Hi Oracle, In the song When Love Takes Over by David Guetta and Kelly Rowland, there is a piano part which sounds almost just like Clocks. Is that them copying Coldplay? The Oracle replies: Diego from Mexico also wanted to know whether permission had been sought for that melody line. The thing you have to remember with music is similarity does not mean copy. Granted the piano riff in the above mentioned song sounds almost identical but the point is, it isn't and therefore there was no breach of copyright.

You should set up a blog somewhere, so that you can keep all your reviews in one place - how about a mark out of 10 too?

I'm so glad it arrived, I remember the conversation we had about how unreliable your postal service can be, and your Secret Santa was worried they didn't have the address right. This piece of mail had a really difficult journey guys, but it still made it, so keep the faith that yours will arrive too! :)

Last time I saw Crowded House live (about 3 years ago I think) they recorded each show then released 1000 copies of each one for sale, so I have a permenant reminder of the concert I was at... really wish Coldplay would do that!

Taking Coldplay out of the equation, Crowded House are probably the best band I've seen live. They still sound amazing now, they're not afraid to play the old stuff (take note Mr. Berryman and give us Shiver :P), and they always do a long set. *fetches Ipod to have a listen to the CH live cd*
