I think Beck is influenced by so many different genres himself that makes him a great starting point for someone wanting to broaden their musical horizons

Don't ever say you don't trust your taste in music! If you don't, who will? :P I think music is such a personal thing, you should never doubt your opinions. I listen to so much pop that would probably make most people around here vomit, but I'm not going to apologise for the fact that I listen to that kind of music as well as bands like Coldplay. And it's great that you recommended some jazz! Jazz is like art for me - I don't know anything, I just know what I like :P but if Simon's going to broaden his musical knowledge, jazz is a must! You gave a really great list of options (Start with the Beck albums, Simon :smug:)

That's cool - Jools' Annual New Years Eve Hootenanny will be on TV in the UK at the same time :D
