"42" Comparisons
everyone listen to 3:10 to 3:23 on 42 now watch and listen to this youtube video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1D8-_OQAq3Y the singing is not identical, but the drums are about 95% the same Jonny's guitar has two ascending phrases and two descending phrases Julian's singing in the verse has two ascending phrases and two descending phrases. crazy. haha. i realized this in bed earlier today. i was listening to those 13 seconds in 42 and thought, "hmm.. I've heard this before" haha.

MTV: Coldplay Give Track-By-Track Tour Of Viva La Vida
- The Great 'VLVODAAHF' Elimination Game!!!!
uh... Cemeteries is 19 guys..- The Great 'VLVODAAHF' Elimination Game!!!!
Cemeteries is 19.- Update: Which Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends Song the Best?
i wish i could change my poll vote DAAHF is the best song on the record, easily.- The Great 'VLVODAAHF' Elimination Game!!!!
Death and All His Friends (+1) Cemeteries of London (-1) my least favorite track. i'm surprised it's the highest so far. Cemeteries of London - 19 Lost - 9 42 - 17 Lovers in Japan - 10 Yes - 17 Chinese Sleep Chant - 1 Viva la Vida - 13 Violet Hill - 8 Strawberry Swing - 17 Death and All His Friends - 16 The Escapist - 1- Anyone only like certain parts of 42?
Will's drumming in the "You thought you might be a ghost.." bit (or 3:10 to 3:23) reminds me a lot of "Barely Legal" by the Strokes. it's almost the same thing haha I think that ghost bit excellent though. It's perfectly catchy and melodic, very energetic, especially when the guitar comes in and echoes Chris' singing at 3:10 it's perfect. hardly anything wrong with it.- Death and all his friends/The Escapist (song ) review
definitely. the way the piano builds, and the way the drums kick in and the words and.. yeah. just everything. utter beauty.- What's So Great About Coldplay, Anyway?
What instantly attracted me (when I, one rainy January morning in 2001, saw Chris in the Yellow video walking across Studland Beach) was the catchiness of the music and Chris' voice. I don't wanna get too complicated but i'll just say this. There is simplicity in complexity, and complexity in simplicity. And a band like Coldplay exemplifies that perfectly, especially because they are such a huge and popular band so their music isn't exactly out there but rather radio-friendly. I don't usually listen to gigantically huge bands but mostly older, less popular music. But when I do, it's only because the band has incredibly redeemable qualities. Coldplay is one of those bands. About the complexity in simplicity thing, the new song "Lost" is a perfect example. you play the following chords in progression: Emaj7, C, G, and D. very simple and basic chords, chords many guitar players and pianists play every day without thinking. but the beauty and talent in Coldplay and Chris Martin as a songwriter is that he possesses that special talent of being able to sing something completely beautiful over those simple chords. so everyone can play those chords, but writing a song as catchy and lovely as that is the distinction i'm trying to make. and the funny thing is, what he's singing is rather simple as well. but it's composing and creating it all that counts. Singing something that catchy and melodious can turn simple chords into a beautiful landscape. So whenever you hear someone slag on a song because "oh, it's just three chords", what they fail to grasp is the many things that go into making something so simple into something so complicatedly beautiful. Again, Chris, Jonny, Will and Guy are masters at this. And this is why Coldplay is loved by the millions, as they should be.- WE'VE FOUND THE BAKERY!! *NOW WITH PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF* UPDATED FIRST POST!*

ah i see now. there are also black grates on the balcony right above the front door. but the windows in the courtyard side of the building have them as well but you can't see them to well on the satelite shot (except the first one) besides there was no door behind the couch in the LiJ vid, and the two tall buildings on Lawn and Upper Park Road b/w Fleet and Garnett Rd totally gives it away.- WE'VE FOUND THE BAKERY!! *NOW WITH PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF* UPDATED FIRST POST!*
man.. you guys aren't gonna believe me but i found the Bakery on tuesday night/wednesday morning and should have posted it on here but didn't, like an idiot. i came up with two locations and the Bakery was one of them but i wasn't too sure. i was afraid you guys would think i was dumb because the building is so close to the sidewalk. it was mostly the windows in back that gave it away and the schoolyard in back, but i still wasn't sure. now it seems so clear, what with the white spiral staircase to the left of the balcony and everything. oh well. i would not have found it without Age Six's and everyone else's initial location. it's just the whole "you didn't raise your hand so it's like you never knew the answer" part that stings a bit (as childish as that is) haha. (color circles courtesy of Age Six Racer) Other than the windows in yellow, the tall structure in blue gave it away. In the Lovers in Japan video, the Bakery windows matched the ones behind the couch and the tall building's windows matched the one in view of the camera. It's the only thing that stuck out and seemed relatively easy to spot in terms of location. should have went with my gut.. i could have discovered it earlier with a little more help. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- anyway, here are the four aerial shots from maps.live.com:- June 6: The Hour interviews Coldplay
yeah, i gotta watch those extra ten minutes somehow. can't wait until someone, anyone uploads it what a treat it is to have 3/4's of it online so quickly though. fun times.- WE'VE FOUND THE BAKERY!! *NOW WITH PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF* UPDATED FIRST POST!*
funny how an ugly building could look so beautiful inside. that's interior decorating for you haha.- WE'VE FOUND THE BAKERY!! *NOW WITH PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF* UPDATED FIRST POST!*
i'm sure if we all put our heads together and use maps.live.com we can find the bakery for sure. it's only a matter of time :)- June 6: The Hour interviews Coldplay
jeez was that fast haha. thanks for letting us know Approximately :) is it only the four videos? they all amount to about 31 minutes. not sure if we're missing anything or not.- New York show winners are ....
awesome :) i hope Paul gets my confirmation haha. I would, but I would have to email them through Paul's email which i can't. haha. it's cool though. i'm sure the post office will figure it out. it's a no brainer :)- New York show winners are ....
yeah it'll definitely be delayed but it shouldn't be too long, since 11211 and 11385 are neighboring zip codes. the post office should spot the problem immediately. in fact, if you type my address into google maps with the wrong zipcode it automatically corrects it haha.- New York show winners are ....
speaking of boriherter, i have to PM him and ask him to make sure if his friend (whose name i claimed his extra ticket with) gets a confirmation e-mail. so that way he can then forward the confirmation email to me to be completely positive that i'm going. i made the HUGEST mistake though. in a happy hurry, i put down my OLD zip code for Williamsburg Brooklyn (11211) and it should have been my current Ridgewood, Queens zip code (11385) as long as they send the tickets out, the post office should correct the mishap for me. since Ridgewood is very close to Williamsburg and especially since I at least got my address and city/state correct. I assume these things happen all the time. anyway, i hope Boriherter's friend gets that confirmation email. and i hope the post office gets my address right! i'm glad some more people got tickets i hope we can all get in come the 23rd :) - The Great 'VLVODAAHF' Elimination Game!!!!
