Well, you've brought up what it means to be German: Always being associated with the Nazi-past. Like Mike said, I agree with you in some regard, but the patriotism that does annoy me to some point, is the one that is separated from the political patriotism. This ... ... sums it up. I do love living in Germany too and I'm grateful for the many opportunities I am given, my education, the luxury of living, but I don't shout it out every chance I get and I certainly wouldn't say that I'm proud to be German.

Oh, I didn't mean to disrespect the soldiers. They are putting their lives on the line ... but I think that many do it because they feel like they owe it to their nation. I have the impression that the military knows how to use (or abuse) the patriotism, that most people are taught from birth onward.

The scary thing is that the patriotism and the military force are so strongly linked. You're a good American if you enroll and it's always the soldiers who are the true American heroes. It scares me sometimes, because this nation, which many claim to be the best and most developed of the world, is so focused on its military.

Sometimes the patriotism of some Americans just really baffles me ... because (and I don't want to offend anyone here) there are countries in Europe whose values and political systems are far more developed. :blank:

I think it would be really hard to find children who are not aware of a belief in God. My parents didn't raise me religiously, they never told me there was a God, but I still grew up believing there was one, because as soon as you enter school, you are confronted with religious education ... and that is often very one-sided.

I don't deserve a reply, because I don't think speculations about a porn-stash are important in the big picture of a mass-murderer. Logic is a wonderful thing.

I should use that first sentence to copycat your sig-idea. :sneaky: ... and the fact still remains that there were other men in that compound. I don't see how it would ever be possible to prove that it was his porn-stash. Why would that matter anyway? Why would anyone feel the need to prove him a hypocrite by revealing his secret love for porn? For fuck's sake, that man was a terrorist and abused and misinterpreted his religion to kill people ... he already is a proven hypocrite.

If you seriously think watching pornography is on the top of the list of things that make him a hypocrite, then ... I don't even know how to continue this, it's just a big :facepalm: We all knew he was a hypocrite for proven reasons ... this story is just supposed to attract people through SCANDAL11!!!!111!!!!! and look, it worked.
