Aus Promoter: Coldplay Will Tour Australia In 2012
I honestly couldn't be bothered with Coldplay anymore. This latest tour has only cemented my opinion of them, they've become more and more inaccesible over the years and their music has become more and more commericial. I flew to Melbourne from Adelaide for Viva, but I just can't bring myself to do the same this time. Not for a cold fish stadium show, the audience interaction they once had is gone forever. I've followed Coldplay since the Blue Room, so I say all this with a heavy heart, but they're just not my band anymore, they've become something else, something I don't really like. I thought they had a great album in them, but I can see now they've delved too far into superstardom for that to ever happen. There's too much money invested for them to ever have true artistic freedom, and more to the point I think they've stopped wanting to make that one truely great piece of musical art, opting rather for Grammies, charting singles and bigger than Ben Hur audiences. They've become an industry, they've become the Rihanna of Bands.

If MTM remains only a b-side, where does it rank among your favorites?
I'm actually hopeful that it remains a b-side because it wasn't good enough to make the cut. Which would mean the album is really fucking good. All in all it reminds me of the love child of Pink Floyd and David "do you read me lieutenant" Bowie. Top 5 B-Sides...shit that's a hard one. 1. How You See The World No. 2 2. A Spell A Rebel Yell 3. Major Minus 4. Moving to Mars 5. Help Is Just Around The Corner I'm assuming the Brothers and Sisters EP doesn't count as B-Sides?

RIP Jennifer/Nettie
I just found out on the coldplay site.....I can't believe it, I chatted with Nettie a few times on the Old Coldplay forums. She was a really stand out girl and I really liked her, I think everyone that knew her did. Nettie was one of those people you couldn't help but adore and I'm sure she will missed by everyone.

Is anyone like, upset after seeing them live?
I had a massive case of the blues the minute I left the arena when they were playing in Australia, it just went by so fast I felt like I didn't have the time to take it all in. Though I'm going to London in November, so I'm going to swing by the bakery, hopefully bump into someone who'll invite me in to meet the band, who'll invite me over to dinner where I will regail them with witty banter and then they'll hire me for some menial roadie task and then I'll get to go to every show on the next tour. I don't see how I can possibly fail.

[RESCHEDULED DATE] 27-July-2009: SPAC, Saratoga Springs, NY, USA
Oh man nad, so sorry to hear that. I was in a flat panic when I flew to one of the melbourne australian shows that something like this would happen to me. It's just one of those things that no-one can do anything about. Get well soon chris.

Viva La Vida Covered by Lady GaGa
No doubt that she's got a good voice but this is prententious shit. She completely missed the point of the song, the song is built for flowing and building, not for a bunchy of jerky quirky stop start crap. Also major props for the Picard pic, that's going straight into my "sick burn" folder.

Is There a Coldplay Song You Just Can't Stand?!
Yup Chris was even known to put an Apple on top of his piano when they did it live. Personally I quite like A Whisper......High Speed on the other hand has never done it for me, not that I hate it, it just a bit of a nothing song for me.

What is your favourite Coldplay song today?
We Never Change

Your final Coldplay song before going to sleep at night
Everything's not Lost, easily the best bed time song ever. :)

Are you a Coldplay Superfan?
I'd say I'm a light superfan, I only come here about once a week (offical site about 4-5 times)and don't usually come into the forums, even though you are all lovely people, (I just don't have a lot of time these days). I listen to coldplay at least three times a week, I have a hard copy of all their EP's (except Safety) and Albums. I've been a fan since 2000 and I would and have flown to another city to go to one of their shows. I think I like Coldplay above all other because out of all the music on the planet I most see myself reflected in their music, it's the kind of music I would want to write if I were a musician. So maybe not a superfan, or number 1 fan, but certainly a bigger fan than most and someone who has very much appreciated their presence since their beginings. And Chris is right when he says Coldplay has the best fans in the world, you guys really are the lovliest bunch of people and I always feel at home when I'm at a coldplay concert.

3-Mar-2009: Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, Australia - Tickets, Meetups, Reviews/Photos
Personally I think they could drop Strawberry Swing and replace it with Yes! Strawberry Swing just doesn't seem to work very well live, there's too much going on in that song to be handled by just 4 people, it sounds like it has a big hole in the middle. Either that or they could bring Matt and Bash out to play additional bits and bobs in it, that'd be pretty awesome.

5-Mar-2009: Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, Australia - Tickets, Meetups, Reviews/Photos
Ungh agree Mercury Rev were a disaster, the lead singer acted like a b-grade sopie actor and the all that came to mind when watching the guitarist was a hot potatoe with irritable bowel issues. That was on the 3rd mind you......sorry to hear about your vomitus, at least it happened at the end and not half way through.

3-Mar-2009: Rod Laver Arena, Melbourne, Australia - Tickets, Meetups, Reviews/Photos
Just had to pipe in here that it was a freakin great show, I was a bit miffed the other nights got Glass of Water, though they do play Chinese Sleep Chant flawlessly, you'd almost think it was a recording. The crowd was a little "too cool for school", I thought it was just Adelaide that had dud crowds but it appears Melbourne suffers the same. Though Rod Laver is a fucking great venue for a stadium show, it just works. I had row A seats too which was a boon. My only gripe (apart from the earth shattering suckage that was Mercury Rev) was that I knew to much about the show/setlist to be truely awed by it. I knew nothing about the Twisted Logic show and that was a huge buzz to experience. Still I wish I could've stayed in Melbourne for all 3 shows but my budget barely got me there in the first place, so I'm just happy to have made it to one show. All said and done, it's fairly safe to say Coldplay are still the greatest live act I've ever seen. Oh did anyone catch the roadie doing a breakdance routine during Jay-Z and then a ballet routine during Blue Danube at the side of the stage (Jonnie's side) of the stage? Frickin hillarious.

Confirmed Australian Tour: Feb/March 2009
Well the venue in Adelaide has been free'd up due to the cancellation of a long running show that had it booked out for a month. Unfortunately, looking at their schedule, I don't think they'd be able to fit Adelaide in. The biggest gap is between Perth and Melbourne but only two days and honestly I don't think there would be time to get the stage up and down and to Melbourne in time. Thankfully I'm able to get to Melbourne for the March 3rd show, but it would've been awesome to go to an Adelaide one too. Maybe if they come out early they'd be able to fit an Adelaide show in, but somehow I don't see it happening.

NRJ Music Awards (17th Jan) - Cannes / Chris Martin performs solo 'LiTii'

The Scientist is my favourite, but Politik is their best.

Amazing Fix you performance!
It was going to be a DVD that was scheduled for release just prior to Christmas 2006, but it got cancelled. We never found out whether it was the band or EMI who cancelled it, but instead it just ended up as TV special that pops up every once in a while. It's been played on Canadian TV a couple of times for sure, I can't remember where else though.

What song made you fall for Coldplay?(rate the song above you)
8 Mine was Trouble, well a live version of Trouble from the Big Day Out in 2000, I was 23 at the time, I had heard Yellow previously but it didn't really catch my attention that much. Bought Parachutes and it didn't leave my CD player (yes we had them back then) for like a year.

March Viva la vida SYDNEY [2009]
I thought I was hardcore flying from Adelaide to Melbourne for a show, but Singapore to Sydney, that's got to be costing some big bucks.
