They'd be funny as hell on a Satch forum but here you're pretty well much pissing in the wind of public opinion. Honestly, I thought your original post was well thought out and if this comes to a head....well shit, I'm not a lawyer but there are certainly 5 (maybe 6, I haven't listened closely enough)consecutive notes that are the same. If that constitues plagarism, well Coldplay are fucked and an out of court settlement is the best they can hope for. HOWEVER, they're both under the EMI banner and I'm fairly certain the board are most displeased with this turn of events and I wouldn't be entirely surprised that we hear little more of it. I honestly think Chris didn't directly plagerise the melody, perhaps he was indirectly influenced by it, heard it in a elevator maybe and it popped up in his sub-concience a few days later or perhaps it was just pure chance. It's not a complex melody and it's more than possible it is just purely coincidental. Either way I hope it works out well, I've always been a fond admirer of Joe (hell I even own a Satriani signature Ibanez) but I hope this is swept under the rug and a the matter is dealt with privately. The public court is usually very brutal, ill-informed and unlikely to take any sort of factual evidence into consideration. Either way, it's hurting the public image of both parties.

I'm from Adelaide and got my tickets for this show on monday......quickest I've ever recieved tickets. I'm usually waiting months.

This'll be my first trip to Rod Laver, what's it like as a venue, pretty good viewing all round? The Adelaide Ent Centre can be a ratshit in the seated area's due to the corporate boxes that are beneath them, I'm hoping laver will be better.

I think the band are saving famous old painters for something special, maybe the next album. Does anyone recall the leaked website, just prior to Album 4 being named Viva la Vida? It was covered in references to Famous Old Painters, over at the old coldplay forums we were pretty convinced it was going to be the title track, then it got namd Viva and it was never mentioned again. and the Oracle (aka Debs) is never going to answer this question. She never answers anything about releases.

Is it just me but from Parachutes to Viva has Will gone from goofiest member of the band to coolest member? Well maybe slightly less cool than Guy, but you get where I'm coming from.

After much umming and arring ahmm flying to Melbourne for the show on the 3rd. Picked up some gold seated seats (Section 7 Row A woohoo!) on the Chugg pre-sale. Would've got some GA standing but my other half is a delicate flower and I have to bring her or it's no dice on the trip. Ahh the things we do for love. Still I'd be happy to sit in the nosebleeds as long as I get to go.

You don't think that Manhatten apartment of Jonny's fell off the back of a truck do you? Still when you're away from home and living out of a suitcase for most of the year I don't begrudge them a cent, they're providing a service and let's face facts, they're a fucking great live act. Also you have to keep in mind they would be grosses, you have to take off the cost of venues, wages, food, transport, hotel costs and lots of other shit I can't think of. Total profit for the band themselves would be about 5-10% tops.

That they ranked Day & Age at 22 forces me to call shenanigans on this list. That album should be Number 1, at the very least in the top ten.

I totally agree this song demanded a lot more time to make it something more than what it is, it just feels like a wasted opportunity. Still, it's the highlight of the EP for me.

Turns out I can't get to Melbourne due to other circumstances and Sydney is going to be too expensive.......man this fucking sucks.

I'm going to fly me and my other half from Adelaide to one of the Melbourne shows, I just can't bare the thought of them doing shows in Aus and being unable to go. So I'll see you guys there, i'll be the one dressed in rags and begging for spare change. :) Sratch that, turns out I can't get the time off. If I didn't know better I'd suspect some kind of consipiracy . :(

I'm fucked if I'm going to miss this tour so I'm going to scartch some cash together and fly to Melbourne for one of their shows.
