AHFOD - YOUR reviews
I dont know the album in question, but the way I always perceived Coldplay they always always made hits i.e. songs which are immediate melodies, not so intricate, right from Yellow up to now. Anyone who says Coldplay make music for anyone but themselves has in my opinion misunderstood them completely. Imo they make music they like and music that plays well live and create a very exciting experience for the audience (and for themselves). As for what constitutes dumb music, I kinda used to be so sure once. After all I am a musician, so I used to scorn modern pop and the likes of Selena Gomez (ok maybe I still do LOL), but only a few days ago Chris was recommending a song by her "Good for you" and I went like: oh no...one of those mindless pop songs, but then I listened to it and I was like hey this is actually good! Kinda reminded me how there is truly at the end of the day only songs you like and songs you dont, no matter how intricate or simple they are, it all boils down to a subjective experience, so I kinda gave up thinking too much about it now :)

Hahahaha so funny ! :) Well there is strange thread running through in my life which resonates with what Chris does and who he is. I guess one of the reason I love Coldplay so :) I feel like they sing my life all the time just in the right moments! Princess came out when I first met her, A sky came out when I found out something amazing about myself which changed my life, True Love single came out when we broke up, Adventure now came out when I was at my lowest and I so needed a lift, and so on and so forth. haha But I am in LA and I am trying to get her back...not Gwyneth though haha Though honestly I think Chris still loves her...judging from tracks like Everglow and Fun.

I think there is true beauty in melancholy. In a weird way I kinda "enjoyed" all the sad feelings I had during the break up I went through, just because they were so intense and raw. But I am happy I am happier now. I found out you can still have very strong feelings just as meaningful and be happy-dance-around hehe :) And I so love dancing....I guess one of the many things I have in common with Chris LOL

My life is crazy....you have NO idea haha One of the reason I´ve been so rarely on the forum :/ So great to be back btw and see all the new lovely faces (figuratively speaking of course LOL) , I hope it lasts. I am kinda a guy always on fire, I guess that means you´ll never really have a quiet life, but I do long for some rest soon: I hope to find it with her :) I´ll post the synopsis the day the book is ready haha

True and it all kinda started with MX really, didn't it? Makes me think thats when C&G started having problems perhaps. I dont mind the love theme. I used to be a very independent "no love, just dating girls" kinda guy, but that one woman came along and I´ve hopelessly fallen in love for good in the one and only. I´ve resigned to my destiny now haha

I´ve been following a strangely parallel track to Chris in my life, which kinda allowed me to resonate with all his songs about love love love haha But yeah I know what you mean :) Though I´ll say songs like up and up are about general love, not specific romantic one, so those themes are timeless and ultimately its a song about how to overcome the harsh things in life.

A ha I hear ya...you like the organic sound of live instruments :) Being a guitar, drum and a bit of a piano player myself I cant but agree with such sentiment haha However I do like beats and stuff in songs like Adventure, makes me dance and I love dancing (I dance like Chris, which means I cant dance but I am enthusiastic LOL). Ultimately the songs I guess are too good for me not to like them, despite whatever production they put on, but yeah a few of GS tracks I preferred live because the sound was more organic.

Well I have about 65 unpublished songs LOOOL I love writing music and playing but its a hobby. I would never pursue it as a career haha But one day it would be nice to get them recorded in some format, at least some of them. And yes absolutely more than one songs are about her, THE girl. Then again aren't all songs ultimately about a girl? hehe Damn women..love them, cant live without them :)

You know what? thats probably why I am enjoying all their latest works so much, because I am also happier in my life than I was back in 2000 haha :) I used to love tracks like Green Eyes, Warning Sign, Crest of Waves, but I am just never in the melancholy mood to listen to them anymore, which I guess is good from a life point of view hehe Not so good musically cuz I rarely revisit them hehe Though Ghost Stories was far from a happy affair...you surely must have enjoyed some of the quieter tracks there? :)

Haha well I got into it only recently too. Nice to be a newbie and explore all the new things, which are old news for our parents LOL Incidentally I was in a retro café recently here in Cali and I got to drink a "float". Did not even know what it was! Apparently it was popular in the 50s. I felt so retro it was so cool haha and it was good too :)

Thank you for the good luck! :) You´re also temporarily an american then? hehe My dad is actually from New York so I guess I am technically half american, though I´ve always lived in Europe. And good luck with your crush: "if its meant to be will be and have peace with that" is my motto :)

No hate here for sure! And I understand the ratings if you only like or most exclusively like the first two albums. My only comment would be...I am kinda sad you´re disappointed so in their latest works? :/ Kudos for still sticking around I guess :) Considering how they like changing it up all the time, they might make quieter songs in the future, however I have a feeling a second Parachutes or Rush will not come back, simply because they enjoy their live performances and seeing people happy, jumping and yuhuuing so much, so they are not likely to write an album full of "Spies" imo. Just my two cents, but as always who knows what the future brings :)

LP7- "A Head Full Of Dreams"
You know what? So happy to hear someone else´s favourite song on Ghost is also Another´s arms! hehe Thank you :) It´s as if Chris voice on Ghost is as subdued as his mood was at the time..it kinda reflects the way he felt, so tentative, hesitant and downright depressed at times. It totally fit my mood back when the album was released, so I can only say I resonated with that. And yes now Chris is so back to his best "yuhhuuu" self and it shows in the vocal performances as well :)

Whether one likes Chris lyric style or not, its undeniable he has put more effort in ahfod than ever. It´s evident he tried to craft nearly each sentence and pack a lot of meaning in it. Ghost lyrics were far more sparse I agree.

I must say I am deeply biased when it comes to A Sky...it´s SO personal to me that I am bound to love it like crazy, so I am not really objective about it hehe But yes I agree most people, even those who dont like it, do love it live when you can hear Jonny guitar more clearly and less synths :) Ah yes you mean the titles! I see what you mean yeah. I had not thought about that to be honest. But it does also tie the two together, so I dont mind. p.s. I mix them up too ! Damn acronyms LOL
