  1. ^^Just noticed your signature. LOL Apt quote hehe :)
  2. Hey thats not going on my playlist *LOL* but its not trashy to all those people clapping. Sure it sounds like an eurovision contestant, sure eurovision gives me nausea haha But some people genuinely like it, so I think trashy is too harsh :) Like sometimes someone might say "hey listen to this obscure artist...he is soo good and revolutionary" and then you´d listen to it and just feel absolutely nothing and then wonder whats wrong with you for not seeing the "great art" when all the critics say you should. Conversely its the same with a super easy pop song you and I might find nauseous but it might even be moving to some other people..who knows. :) So yeah I am always careful with judging cuz I find 99% of the time I am just plain wrong *LOL*

Yeah I would smell "rebound" if it wasnt that he put her on the album, but then again sometimes people do a grand gesture to prove they are serious as a way to making up for the fact that they dont feel all that serious...who knows :)
  4. Jedi Leo replied to Coeurli's topic in Fun
Haha excellent point *LOL* He´s probably gonna say "no, love, this was written way before we met and so it doesn't count and hey YOU´re on the album, not HER, that must prove to you where my heart lies..." LOL *gets carried away with the script of Chris Martin private life soap opera* haha
  5. You proved my point exactly. For a lot of people its unthinkable that a serious artist could dance and have fun. He has got to be a tortured soul, otherwise he is not genuine. I respect your point of view, but I cant agree with it and I think its a bit old-fashioned. I have in my life both been very serious and somber and also jumped around happy and smiling like a child...am I then genuine during the former, fake during the latter? I hardly think so :) I am more weary of people taking themselves too seriously than people taking things lightly. The former actually tend to want to please more than the latter.
  6. Nah, I was replying simply to your post and the words you used there :) Raw, earnest = not happy music is what I got from it :) "Sometimes I want to dance to music" almost sounds like a guilty admission *LOL* I agree about a lot a lot of dance music not sounding meaningful at all. I guess most people dancing dont care about anything other than a song with a good beat. Im not like that. I need to feel a song in order to enjoy singing or dancing to it and Coldplay fit the bill for me. About the two videos: And why is dancing and rolling on the floor being happy bad, while standing still singing looking sad is good and acceptable? Not getting it :) to me it just looks like a band who is having more fun than they ever did before. But like everything, people will see what they want to see, me and you included. And nah lets continue "wasting our cyber breath" here LOL
  7. "it was awright..." (for some reason I got Noel´s voice in my head as this sentence came to mind) LOL So its repeated over and over again? Ok maybe that will help narrowing it down.
  8. Hmm yeah coming from a 18-year-old does not have the same effect as coming from four blokes in their late 30s LOL Clearly "adults" are supposed to be jaded , cynic and at the most mildly optimistic. Anything else will put you up to ridicule. Coldplay know that perfectly well, but like they said I guess they dont care anymore and have decided to just be themselves.
  9. Yeah I dont think there is a connection between how "good" a work is or how a true an artist is. As long as they are making art that truly reflects who they are, it can be deemed great or crap, as long as its a genuine expression thats what makes someone a real artist I guess.
  10. Hmm yeah if only it were that easy. All people jumping around are embarrassing and silly and stupid and all people not jumping around are intelligent, deep and mature. Nah...I dont buy it sorry :) I have plenty of examples that contradict that view of the world. I know its hard for a lot of people to grasp (as there are probably not many examples of this!), but some people can indeed be very versatile, jump up and down and be happy and have a good time and then sit down with you talking about "alchemizing" the pain in your life...just saying.
  11. I listened 32 minutes but I was just following the music and forgot about checking the bells :mad: *lol*
  12. Ok I know I am probably wasting my proverbial cyber breath stating this once again...but not all people who dance around happy are fake or on drugs. Just because you never find yourself in that state of mind, it doesn't mean others dont. Just because you´re sad it doesn't make you automatically "raw and earnest" (ever heard of crocodile tears?), there is such a thing as raw and earnest happiness. If there were not and the only true "raw" emotions were sadness and melancholia in life, well wtf I would not bother with life at all LOL
  13. I think you got it backwards. They finally have fully embraced that they ´re not and never have been and never will be "cool", so they just go for it, full well knowing that there are people who will call them cheesy, hippie, fake, boring, etc...You speak as if making an album like AHFOD makes you cool *LOL* I mean have you read most reviews? It so does not make you cool to scream at the top of your lungs "believe in love". At best you will get a shrug, at worst they will call you the cheesiest and fakest (its not a word I know haha) person on the planet hehe They´ve always been made fun of for wearing their heart on their sleeves, whether it was being too melancholic (bed wetters) or now being too happy (it cant be genuine, it must be fake). I guess in the end they went "to hell with it..we´ll just do what we fell and hope there will always be enough people to relate for us to go on as a band" :)
  14. I agree. And I do believe an artist should be true to his/her vision and thats it. A lot of artists are unfortunately not in a position to being able to live off their art :/ But this is what art should be imo: a vision, a song, a message, a rhyme truthfully coming from someone´s heart and mind.
  15. Birds is classic Coldplay melody, Amazing Day is hardly popular (more like old fashioned 50s track), the title track has U2 written all over it, I could go on :) Clearly we hear different things. I will agree in saying that the production and the style of sound used (in connection with Stargate) is quite reminiscent of other pop songs out there, namely because Stargate works with pop artists as far as I could understand. But do I see Chris sitting up in the middle of the night (with his insomnia) masterfully plotting on a piece of paper the "10 steps to writing a song that will climb the chart" with Will, Guy and Jonny hungrily rubbing their hands together at the prospect of more fame and more money? Ehhhhh no. *LOL*
  16. Wow! How totally MXesque haha :) Lots of spray can souls in that city hehe
  17. I certainly dont share Chris´s enthusiasm for One Direction and Justin Bieber haha But then again I must admit in all honesty I only know one One Direction song (the one they duetted with Ariana Grande) and probably 3 Bieber songs, so Im ignorant in this regard hehe Chris though just seems like a very positive fair bloke imo who tries to see the best in everyone. I prefer that than the usual cynicism which inevitably ends up being hurtful. I do like that for example in the GS interview with Lowe , when he was pressed to sneer at One Direction as being sub par music, he totally went the other way and regarded them equally to other artists. I mean I can see why people would talk of quality artists and crap artists, but I like the way Chris treats them all respectfully.
  18. I like how you put it..."not having misery that overrides the happiness". I kinda like to aim for that in my life too, as much as I can, to overcome whatever sadness and pain we all inevitably feel so that the light is always stronger. And Coldplay is very inspiration on that regard I agree! :) Wow, an old player posting something like this...I am pleasantly shocked *LOL* :) Btw Spies is the first song I heard by them, it has a special place in my heart :)
  19. I´ll preface by saying I am not crazy about Stargate production on each track either. I can think of several tracks on AHFOD I would have liked to have sounded more organic and less "synth" (Up&Up comes to mind) Woah...you must know Chris intimately to come out and say how he´s pushing his lovers? LOL Ok I´ll say this. As far as I understand, most things come from Chris creative-wise (most songs), even though since Viva they have learnt to be more a band and creative inputs come from several members now. However I am sure his ideas get shot down constantly! haha (Will´s flaring nostrils comment come to mind haha). See the lyrics to Hymn as an example: he changed the whole meaning of the song cuz the others would not let him get away with it :) (rightly so imo haha). Also Will and Guy both spoke very enthusiastically about Stargate production so they certainly seem quite pleased with it. I am pretty sure you´re right that the idea came from Chris, but no way they would go along with it if they could not stand behind it 100% imo. And ASFOS: he made his case to the band and so they allowed the song to be in there. Doesn't seem to me he "pushed their boundaries". Its just how collaborations work.
  20. Just because something sells and makes money it doesn't mean it has no value unto itself other than to make money or has been created primarily with the intent to make money. Also since when "dancing apes" are a sure fire way to sell something? LOL And something like the xylobands as far as I understood were quite expensive and ultimately unnecessary to "attract the crowds". People would have flooded to the concerts anyway, with or without xylobands and confetti. They were done for other reasons, maybe the very same reasons Coldplay have cited multiple times in the interviews? Maybe, just maybe they are telling the truth :) Arguably the hits that truly made it to the top charts and were most successful were the likes of Yellow, Clocks and Fix You. Are they then all radio fodder to you? I know many seem to live by the equation: if it sells massively or successfully it must be shit, if its obscure, critically acclaimed and only found in the darkest corner of a record store then it must be prime art. I never quite subscribed to that black and white view. But hey to each their own view of the world, eh? :)
  21. Hmm I'd go for a very Chris Martin like reply "no comment" lool
  22. Yeah that was my predicament too haha I guess I'll have to listen to all the tracks at the time indicated by the riddle maker :)
  23. What wow! Totally the flower of life of the cover. What was it doing there? Haha was it a patch? A piece of paper?
  24. *checks his passport and drivers license* nope, definitely not Chris Martin, still very much Leo haha I can relate to a lot of the stuff he talks about though and I tend to be very high and very low like he apparently gets. Also I dance as badly as he does lol
