Bit deliberate choice of quotes there hehe One could argue that he´s the same guy who wrote "And it was all yellow" *Lol* Songs like Fix you or The Scientist re not particularly deep to me lyrically as a whole. We find great lyric moments in AHFOD too in several songs. To quote a couple from Birds: "it’s a fool’s gold thunder it’s just a warring rain... but someone had put the flares up and got me in the rays" I think he always had a blend of straight forwardness and more intricate lyric style. It almost looks like its "hard work" for him to come up with the lyric content, so he´ll manage some but not all of it hehe

I remember reading about this when I took my psychology class, that the main personality is fixed by age 30 or something like that :) Interesting. I think some aspects are acquired limitations from childhood, which we then can learn to overcome (thankfully!) but a part I also believe is unchangeable. I like to think of it as the "imprint of a soul" hehe, which like you say makes us each unique.

I am not a big fan of how they produced some of the songs either, they lost some of their organic element and I did not like that much. But I think its a misconception that Stargate had to "approve" Coldplay ideas! They said that they had to initially show their songs to them to see if Stargate wanted to work on them, but during the process it was actually Stargate who sent back stuff to Coldplay for approval hehe (Will and Guy mentioned it in a recent interview, how they stopped checking each thing cuz they were liking what Stargate was doing so much). Rightly so as its a Coldplay album at the end of the day :) So yeah I agree with you that the production was not to my liking in more than one place, but it was undeniably what Coldplay wanted, otherwise it would not be in there.

Oh yeah perfect time indeed! But you still do sound full of energy and emotions :P Thankfully it doesn't need to expire :) And I love AHFOD yes, its a very moving album to me as I am nearing the completion of something I´ve worked on for years so like the album is a completion of Coldplay journey. :) They always sing my life, such a gift :) Im liking all the directions they´ve moved to so far, yes even X marks the spot haha (I am a sucker for mantra-like songs LOL) Whats your favourite song/s off AHFOD? :)

Hmm you know I think we do live in a beautiful world, its only a matter of knowing where to look and what to look for ;) Variety can also be beautiful and I truly agree with the sentiment of AHFOD that all challenges ultimately hold a gift that better our life. I used to be skeptic about this, but by now I´ve noticed it to be very true of all challenges. If you are willing to see the gift, it will be there and the same for the beauty :) Kinda irritating isn't it how our perception is so determinant in what we see ! hehe :) But then again its also an empowering thought :)

I dont do streaming, but I am curious as to why you switch to Spotify. I heard its better quality. Is it true? Sometimes hard to compare the two different formats ACC and MP3.

Hey nice point! I totally agree. I see Viva as "stirring the status quo up" major struggle revolution, MX as "we are still struggling but we are sparkling our colours too" and AHFOD as "we are resting in our colours" :) And yes I agree it just flows.

So true, and yet another reason imo to be careful when writing online. And I get that people get carried away with their passion during a post, but charged words can easily be perceived as offensive or too much. If I may be so bold , Id say that what you wrote about "I´d actually be a bit ashamed if I were them of having released this and that", I can perceive as saying "ok I should be ashamed I am actually listening and liking this apparent piece of crap" hehe Just an example out of many of how things can quickly be perceived in a way you had never intended! If only all our minds were perfectly synched all the time, but then we´d live in a pretty boring world! hehe :) We must take the sweet with the sour of our variety I guess :) P.s. Nothing to apologise for in my book. And I totally get what you mean. :) And I agree: opinions get to be very charged here at times I´ve noticed, I guess its inevitable when Coldplay have done such an 180 degree in various points of their career. Polarise the music, you´ll polarise the fans hehe

Adele supporting Coldplay? LOL I remember White Lies being a great band supporting Coldplay during MX tour. I did not much enjoy Jay Z supporting act at Viva wembley concerts hehe So I hope its not a hip hop or rap band: I tend to get bored at those :)

And the fans of AHFOD or Coldplay later work will probably say that its the Oldplayers who are too upset and taking it personally hehe Thats just it. We all tend to see things only from our perspective and thats life I guess. I dont know..I think the key is to remember we all just share our impressions and thats it without belittling others for thinking differently.

I hope not haha But it was not directed to you personally (damn english language where we tend to use "you" to mean people in general hehe) , but a general reflection on the fact that how one states an opinion is just as, if not more, important than the content of that opinion in determining what kind of reaction you´re gonna get. If you push, people are bound to push back. So yeah using harsh words to describe something you dislike might be great for you, but you forget you´re trashing something someone else loves! hehe :)

Think that we can have vinyl charts now ! Ahhhh how wonderful for us LP lovers :) And well done: its also a beautiful vinyl.

I honestly have not encountered anyone here (yet LOL) who is not able to criticise the work of the band in various aspects. And I think generally people are accommodating of different opinions (thankfully hehe). Its when people state that their opinion is right and everything else is wrong that things start to go south imo. Also stating opinions in a very harsh tone (calling AHFOD a pile of trash or what have you) is bound to cause a reaction. I get it that people have strong opinions, but we should not forget that others opinions are just as valid and important. It tends to get lost in all our "cyber rambling" hehe :)

This versatility is I think something people tend to underrate in Coldplay. I can think of perhaps one other band which comes close in being so versatile but then thats it. Its truly a remarkable trait of theirs and I hope they never lose it.

Oh wow , I cant resist posting this then :) Not really representative of Mrs Amos amazing catalogue and truly remarkable talent, but its Christmas hehe And this is one of my favourite Christmas songs ever, from her holiday album. Its just...magical :) And you dance to songs you dont think are great? Wow you must love dancing! haha Thats so cool :)

Id like to chip in here. For the longest time I really had a few friends but thats it. I felt I was not connecting and just was not working for me. Then a few years ago boom I started meeting people I could connect with like crazy! And now I can say I am blessed with knowing so many wonderful people in my life, some have stayed as permanent friends, some I only knew for a brief time but we shared meaningful time together and have enriched my life. Back when my life changed so much, I remember a wonderful woman said something to me once that I think was one of the most enlightening thing I´d never heard. I had told her how I really knew no one I connected with and was bad at being social, at knowing when to approach people. And she told me: "well if people smile at you, then its the first sign that they are open to a contact" and I said "but no one ever smiles to me" and she replied "how many times do you smile at people?" And it just hit me like lightning...How could I expect from the world what I was withholding from the world myself? So I started smiling and just giving of myself to others, anyone really, and it has really changed my life :) Not saying thats your case Jay, but I just wanted to share my experience that often : "what you give is what you get" :)
