Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
The thing with Talk, was he heard the riff in the Kraftwerk song, and he wanted to use it in a rock song. He used it as inspiration. I will agree that Chris does make comments that he shouldn't, jokingly, about where they get material. But the facts of the matter are that they listen to various types of music for inspiration. That's why they got Brian Eno to produce this album. He introduced them to types of music they have never heard before. These kinds of things influence instrumentation, time signatures, etc... but they have never stolen an exact copy of somebody elses riff, or one that sounds remarkably similar. IF you think so, than find me one. And no, Satriani's doesn't count. I understand all of your points completely, but there is no way this is holding up in courts. They aren't going to take sarcastic comments and try to make them hold up as hard evidence. i think the track record of accrediting artists when needed outweighs that heavily.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
1. I know he wants all of the earnings from the song... so do you 2. I didn't say that. I told you to do us a favor. Thanks. 3. We entertained the possibility that they sound similar. But an 8 bar phrase, in a different key, that isn't exactly the same... that isn't even the chorus.... No, thats not plagiarism. I've researched this a lot. The case doesn't hold water. You're right I don't know you. But you obviously have no intention of discussing anything about the band or what you like about them in any other forum. SO far mate, you've got nil friends in here.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
Mindless puppet? Wow. Well if you want to get into name calling.... I will call you pathetic. Yes, pathetic. Look at yourself. You created an account to join this forum, for the sole purpose of arguing about this issue, disagreeing with us, and I'm not so sure you love Coldplay. If you do, you aren't a real fan because as Chris Martin said "If you listen to Coldplay, you're intelligent, very good looking and down right brilliant." And you aren't striking me as any. And you talk like we have no idea what the band would do. I'm sorry, but you're wrong. You are correct that we don't know 100%. Obviously that is impossible. But if you know a person well enough, you can predict how they are going to act in certain situations. You know things about them. We follow this band. We listen to every interview, we read blogs, news... the list goes on my friend. I bet we know more about this band and what they are about than some people working on tour for Coldplay... not to mention you. Coldplay are a good bunch. They care about people. They donate shitloads of money to charity. They put their lives into their music. Chris Martin does not take criticism well, because he is self conscious about his work... but the one song he is certain is good, is Viva la Vida. That says something mate. So fine, we may not know 100% that this song is original. But guess what, based on the best judgement call you can make.... a judgement of their characters, we can say its theirs. And I'll bet my life that that is how its decided in court. And you know what.... the Talk argument is the strongest one in this case. Hate to break it to you. It's such a strong point and I don't see how you can't see that. If they have a history for accrediting artists for small 8 bar riffs.... and giving them money for it.. theres no reason why they wouldn't do it again. That's how courts work my friend. If COldplay had a history of stealing... do you think it'd go the same way? No. Its not about the money for them. Joe is about the money. Do us a favor, and stop posting on this forum unless you have something nice to say about our favorite band. It's an insult. None of us believe that there is a possibility this is ripped off.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
There is so much more to Viva la Vida than that 8 bar "riff" in the vocal line, which isn't even the CHORUS. It's not even exactly the same as Joe.s The only reason why it sounds so similar is because it is in the same key. And Coldplay didn't really have a choice on the key of this song. They bought the bell for it on ebay, so they have to play it in the key of the bell, if you think about it. VLV has so much in it. There are so many things going on, you can't just take that part out and say the song is ripped off. Us Coldplayers KNOW it isn't ripped off. We know Chris and this band well enough, that we know that this would never happen. Now I;m sure you're thinking "Yeah right, you have no idea what they're really like...", but I am sorry, you are utterly mistaken. We follow this band constantly, and guess what? Coldplay are GREAT at getting to their fans and letting them know what they;re all about. They show us time and time again that they have strong characters and that they are doing everything for the right reasons. We have heard each of them talk about the processes they go through to make songs, and many other things. We know this is their work. The way they talk about it proves it. Chris thinks is the best thing they have ever done, and he will take it to his grave and not let anybody change his mind. I am tired of people hating on Coldplay. I'm tired of the "gay" comments (thak you 40 Year Old Virgin). I'm tired of the media comparing them to U2 (Chris doesn't sound anything like Bono, sorry), Radiohead, Oasis.... They have their own identity and they have proved their worth. Viva la Vida or Death And All His Friends is a great example of it. They deserve all the recognition for their hard work. They are so talented, and they reach out and touch people in many ways. And now there is this story, tarnishing their image unfairly. Coldplay deserves better.

Could us Coldplayers somehow take charge on this issue? I mean we all know that Satriani losing isnt going to be publicized at all? The media is going to tarnish the image of our favorite band. What are the odds that a few thousand angry emails(or one really good one) to magazines about not publicizing the truth will influence them to be more fair to Coldplay? I'm guessing none, but what are others thoughts? Coldplay don't deserve to be dragged through the dirt.

19-Sep-2009: Wembley Stadium, London - Tickets, Previews, Meetups, Reviews/Photos
I want some Wembley grass for myself! Maybe I'll scout some out after the show. When people start heading out. I live in America, but I'm from English descent, so I'm ALWAYS supporting my three lions. I think I'll be sleeping there overnight, because I really need to get to the front after sitting in the nosebleed section at my last concert. My guest might just meet me the next day in line.

SO I had to sets of tickets up, and one of them was 414 row T... horrible, and the other was 412 row D, which wasn't bad, so I thought Id buy those. However, when I hit checkout, it brought up the information from the crappy seats and I ended up buying those on accident. i'm pissed. I need to sell those.

25-Nov-2008: Honda Center, Anaheim, Orange County (NEW DATE!)
Alright I need some serious help. I am definitely going to this show. I went to the show at the LA Forum, but I could only manage to get nosebleed seats through ticketmaster, 10 minutes after they went on sale. For this show I am absolutely determined to get to the front. Well, close at least. So, my question to all of you experienced Coldplayers who have gotten great tickets, what is the best way to go about getting those? Is it better to call the venue and get tickets? I am desperate for this. Haha. Thanks for any advice.

So Prospekt's March EP
Does this have to be the Prospekt's March EP? What if it is something entirely separate. They did say it was the Lost! EP so I would assume the the one named Prospekt's March is still yet to come. Meaning we will be getting even more new songs than we thought we would.

Ever have a dream about Coldplay?
I had an amazing dream last night. I was at a Coldplay concert somewhere in Europe, but Guy Berryman could not make it. Someone had to fill in on bass, and it was all me. I was rockin out in a Guy like style, swaying back and forth, watching Chris go crazy looking out at the crowd. Than it got t the part where we had to play in the stands, but we took a small break and he asked me about my guitar skills. I told him I wasn't very good, and I joked about how I wanted to be able to play "See You Soon", and he said "Oh, that's an interesting one" and we had a chat. Eventually he got someone to replace me for the acoustic set was alright. While they were doing that some gay roadie was hitting on me so I just walked away from him. Than the band came back down to play the last few songs and we were rockin out again. Only Chris was COVERED in white, blue, and red paint. It was dripping all over him. While we were playing I pulled out my camera because I thought it would be foolish to pass up this photo opportunity. My camera wouldn't work though. Anyways, than i woke up. It was awesome. I was in Coldplay for a night.

I actually thought of this before. I like the idea of Chris carrying around the band inside the Delacroix painting.
