Coldplay: Albums or Singles
If you really look at it artists in the old days (days of my parents' generation...yikes!) put out only singles. But, the album format eventually grew in popularity with musicians. So, just putting out singles and not full albums/CDs is not uncommon.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
Oh, I am not gonna feed him. I just had to say that because this thing is getting ridiculous with all the "I know music" comments from Joe's fan here and every other site. Trolls are like Chia pets...you give them water and they'll grow and grow while still looking ugly.

I think we need to contact the estate of Eugene Delacroix because that idiot that copied/plagiarize his artwork without getting permission from the artist's estate. I hope they sue his *** off.

Oh puhlease! I don't mind fans of Joe posting but you're a troll. No matter what, you can't hide your true colors. By having a name as "Coldplagiarism" and all those fraud things in your post (btw...fraud is spelled without the e) tells everyone why your here and what your purpose is on this board. It's not to discuss the subject, which we don't need another thread for, but to just simpy start trouble because you hate the band. BTW...I love how all these defenders of Joe say they are music experts, have degrees in music, play an instrument and so forth. It's like they want people to think they are "experts" when it comes to music. Geez!!

Coldplay: Albums or Singles
I want them and other artists to continue making full albums. However, I think the reason why some folks, myself included, tend to skip over songs on the albums (though I do not do it to any of Coldplay's albums) is because the artists themselves are not putting 100% of their creativity into their album. I am so tired of wasting my money on artists who make a few good songs but their album as a whole sucks balls. You know there are certain artists who put everything into their albums such as Coldplay and then you have others who don't.

ROLLLING STONES SONGS OF THE YEAR: VLV #9
I'm not surprised about the song's place on the list because it's a Rolling Crappy Stone list. This magazine is worthless when it comes to evaluating music. Heck, they're the ones who are ****ing up the Rock 'N' Roll HOF but that's besides the point. I would like to know how in the world did Beyonce's get the number one slot? Her song hasn't been out that long and it's the best of the year according to Crappy Stone magazine? Puh-lease!!! If I Were A Boy is the better of her two songs though not better than VLV.

As was stated in the Boston article that I posted a link to in a previous post, Joe will probably walk away with some money. As much as I hate that I do agree that he will get some royalities, but not all the royalities. It doesn't matter if it's intentional or coincidence, the plaintiff always walk away with money. Also, it really is dawning on me that in the public's eye, Coldplay is guilty of plagiarism. It seems like all the votes and posts that I have seen seem to be in favor of Joe. These people think the Coldplay intentionally copied Joe's song. Man, these people are idiots!! I don't have a link but I read an article from someone who was watching the case closely. Basically the writer was saying that maybe it was time for the copyright laws to be rewritten because it's to the point where all artists can claim that someone has copied their music. Whether what was copied was a few notes to almost a whole song, the person making claim and getting reward has become too easy.

Guitarist Joe Satriani sues Coldplay for plagiarism
I'm not positive but I think it's filed in a federal court. Here are two interesting articles that I found. http://popwatch.ew.com/popwatch/2008/12/coldplay-suit-r.html http://news.bostonherald.com/entertainment/music/general/view/2008_12_10_Plagiarism_charge_puts_Coldplay_in_hot_water/srvc=home&position=also The thing that is interesting about the second article is the mentioning of the red Hot Chili Peppers's Dani California. When I first heard that song I thought of Tom Petty's Mary Jane's Last Dance. I didn't know that no credit was given to Tom Petty and he didn't demand anything either, and the funny thing is he has a more legitimate claim of plagiarizing that Joe.

My bad. I thought you were responding to my post.

I didn't say that they should kiss their Grammys goodbye. What I am saying is that some voters may consider the controversy when voting.

I think the band was involved with the statement. I think the band consulted their attorneys and together came up with the perfect statement which the attorneys wrote up and made available to the public. Overall, this whole thing is ridiculous. I think most agree that the timing of the lawsuit is suspicious, that any similarities is purely coincidental, and that the way Coldplay has handled this has been very professional, perhaps with the exception of Chris's joke during the Yahoo Nissan set. A little off topic but I can't help but there's another controversy going on in the music biz and it has nothing to do with Coldplay. I saw on the news yesterday about the controversy between Lady Gaga and Christina Aquilera...who stole whose look? LOL!! I can't help but think what is going on in the music business?!

Yep, they hate most controversies. Depending on the type of controversy, the Grammys may overlooked an artist and thier work. Since this controversy actually deals with music many voters may consider it when voting.

Even though I didn't want them to publicly say anything about this case they had no choice but respond when Joe talked to the press about it and played the victim part. I totally agree that their statement is very professional and respectful and that is how it should've been done. Coldplay's statement shows a neutral and respectful side and no victim or arrogance side.

Gwyneth...
Yes, most of the awards are presented much earlier so I can see her not being there. Plus, I don't think she will attend because this event celebrates Chris's job and it's his time to shine. I think she made a comment about that on Oprah and why we will never see them together at any of the events that celebrate their jobs. What does Iron Man have to do with this? Did she sing a song in the movie or did she write a few songs to the soundtrack that got nominated? I've never seen the movie so I do not know. Just because a movie's score or song gets nominated for a Grammy does not mean that the actors in the film would go to the event because something that is non-acting related is nominated. The only actors I have ever seen at the Grammys are the ones who also make CDs such as Jamie Fox, Beyonce, Barbara Streisand (that's an old one), and so forth. Anyways, the Grammys celebrate music while the Oscars/Golden Globes celebrate the whole movie and those are the events actors do attend.

The Jonas Brothers have done it again
As Prince once sang..."act your age, not your shoe size." So, I would say they'll never turn into men. LOL!

If you could dedicate a song to your favorite coldplay member what would it be?..
LOL!!! Ok, so you can stop crying. I would dedicate the songs first and foremost to the band, and then I would give an extra dedication to Guy. Come to think about it, but I would probably then give an extra dedication to Will. I just notice that I need to get an avatar and a sig for my post. My posts look so naked. LOL!!

Don't worry....it's not Chris.

The Jonas Brothers have done it again
C'mon guys! Give the Jonas Brothers a break. They're young and naive and don't understand what is going on. LOL!! When they grow up to be "men" (LOL) then they'll understand what is going on.

Well, anyone that files a lawsuit is a victim and that is why they are filing a lawsuit. However, some over exaggerate the victim part. I'm not saying this guy is but there are people who do go over board with the victim part. I will say that some of the wording used in the article is interesting to say the least. Not to say that he actually worded that way because we all know that reporters can change or add things to someone's comment. But some of the wording is very interesting so much so that it makes a reader feel sorry. Yes, and that is why I feel Coldplay is doing the right thing by not openly saying anything. I know some folks want Coldplay to say something about this but I don't because that is not how this matter should be handled. This matter should stay behind closed doors and not in the magazines or newspapers. I say...take the high road and Coldplay are currently doing just that which could be to their advantage.

[Pictures] 6th December 2008: Chris Martin Leaving London Home
In this business it is virutally impossible to have a day off in order to celebrate. Almost all celebrities have been away from home on those special days so this is not unusual. I guess the media forgets that celebrities do not live normal lives.

Tina Turner's "Simply the Best" and Carly Simon's "Nobody Does It Better" to the whole band though with a little bit more emphasis on one particular member.

Coldplay @ GRAMMY Awards 2009 | Performed Lost & Viva La Vida | WON 3 AWARDS! [PICTURES/VIDEOS IN FI
Actually, it is smaller because the voters can only vote for the top 4 categories (Record, Song, Album, and New Artist) and 8 other categories of their choice. Though there are a lot of members, with the exception of the top 4 categories, only a small portion is voting for the other categories so that means some categories will have more vote than other categories. I agree that music is about emotion and Coldplay captures those emotions. However, I have been reading a lot of positive comments on the Robert Plant/Allison Kraus CD which concerns me because the Grammys, at times, tend to reward in cycles. I haven't listen to that CD but so many people think it's the best, probably even better than Radiohead's CD. I want VLV to win Best Album because it is the best but I am concern about all the things I am hearing concerning the other nominees.

Pull me out of my "Coldplay Group Think"? Oh, that is a good one. Is it because I am not agreeing with you on every little thing? Look, I am not in that group because I do see the other side. I am an independent thinker who views things in the same way that a scientist would view things. You always have to question things, and when things are not right or don't seem to make sense you still have question 'em. From that point of view there are more questions concerning Joe than there are of Coldplay. It's only human to question and doubt things when things do not appear to be right. Oh, I would want my name listed on a song if I created that work if it was "stolen". Why? Because it is my work and it should be attributed to me. This attitude about taking credit is not important and that money is the most important thing is ridiculous. What is that telling people? But, I guess that is just a reflection of society...screw creative recognition and just ask for the money. Also, every other artists has their name listed on their work so why not Joe? Again, I said that's what making this whole thing suspicious for many folks which is not being answered by anyone. Instead that part is ignored. I'm not trying to be rude but when you see people who just joined and this is the only thread they are posting in there are gonna be doubts about why they're here. Oh well, whatever.

Tell me how come he is not asking for it NOW. His lawsuit is only asking for royalities and no credit. I guess you think that is normal. If he asked for it then but was refused don't you think that he would also want it now along with royalities? I would think so but he's not doing that. Again, how come no one thinks that is odd for a respective musician? I tell my students to take credit for this work but I guess getting credit for something you created is not important since it has no real monetary value. Heck, if it was anyone else they would also be asking for credit/recognition. Oh well, whatever. It's nice that you and others joined the board only to discuss this topic. LOL!!
