  1. A lot of indie artists that had big releases in 2009, plus a few others. Here are the biggest ones I can think of (both positive and negative): Animal Collective Merriweather is not my personal Album of the Year like many others, but numerous standout tracks on it make me want to scout out their previous material as well. Bat for Lashes Her 2009 album is very good, though not as mind-blowing as some would have you believe. Definitely gonna look out for her in the future, though. Bell X1 My local radio station randomly started playing "The Great Defector" and I took some curiosity. Their material is fantastic, though I find "Flock" to be their best album. Elbow I'd been semi-familiar with Doves beforehand, but not Elbow. It wasn't until I heard all the hype about Elbow supporting Coldplay that I really explored them. Certainly one of the most amazing bands I discovered this year. The Flaming Lips I actually still can't get into their new album for the life of me (it's probably one of those albums that's gonna take 20 listens), but I'm liking some of their less experimental stuff at the moment. Hopefully that can help propel me into Embryonic. Howling Bells Like Elbow, I explored them once I learned they were opening for Coldplay. Unlike Elbow, I wasn't too impressed with Howling Bells aside from one or two songs. Headlights I forgot how the hell I discovered this band, but more people need to know about them. I'm pretty sure their Wikipedia page is only like a paragraph. Metric Undoubtedly my best discovery of 2009. My only prior exposure to Emily Haines was Broken Social Scene, and not only is she extremely sexy, but she can really belt out a tune. "Fantasies" is one of my favorite albums this year and their older material is also great. Saw them live just over a week ago and was quite impressed. Natalie Imbruglia Was obviously interested because of "Lukas", but even though I really like that track, the rest of her stuff is a bit too pop for my tastes. Phoenix Best discovery next to Metric. The new album is a candidate for my favorite album this year, for which they certainly deserve all the sudden attention they have gotten. Also saw live last week and would see them again in an instant. Sigur Rós They're still a work in progress on my part. I've gone back three albums and liked it all, but still have more to discover. Silversun Pickups These guys have some really good songs but I'm not fully into them yet. I still can't get over how womanly their frontman sounds, for some reason. White Lies Another discovery courtesy of Coldplay, I have mixed feelings about their debut album. Some tracks are stellar, while others do no favors for me. Oh, and I have learned to like Radiohead more. Love the hell out of Kid A and In Rainbows. I'm still struggling with Amnesiac, though.
  2. This just made my day, especially after a long day at work. :laugh3:
  3. Light Grenades - Incubus

    She Is - The Fray
  5. I collaged about 50 of them, which means I still have over 200 of them still sitting in a bag in the closet. I sent out a couple with my Secret Santa but I'm really not doing much with them otherwise. Sometimes I'll look into the bag to get a refreshing memory of the concerts, but that's all for now. :\
  6. I'd say that's pretty impressive given that VLV is from 2008.

Is it wrong that I find hilarity in the fact that the song in your story happens to be called "Blindness"? :dozey: Same here, although I think it was Feist that hooked me first. I never had anything against female singers, but they didn't appeal to me for longer. Now I enjoy them every bit as much as male vocalists, however. :D
  8. Oh shit, people actually took me seriously? :stunned: I love you all.
  9. GOOD DAY, SPAMMERS! Great to see some videos finally surface...hopefully more to come! So...uh...is that Wembley photoblog thread ever gonna go away? This was CLEARLY the superior photoblog. May I suggest we wage war against the Wembley photoblog thread? This only has half the posts, but we have the fresher spirit!
  10. Honestly, I find "Magnificent" to be one of the very few standout tracks on NLOTH. I wouldn't place it that high, but it deserved more success than it got. Some great songs on your list. Glad to see a lot of love given to Doves, who have - in my opinion - the most underrated album this year. Thanks for posting! :)
  11. Glad you had a great time Christa! Yeah, shows like that are VERY strict on their camera policy. I suppose that strictness is more understandable than at a standard concert, however.

  15. So many responses! Awesome! I'm thinking I jumped the gun on my e-mail to Anchorman. I sent it a whole hour ago, well before the show ended, and no response. Ah well, I still got a question answered so I'll be okay with no reply. :)
  16. All right, I'm leaving. Sent Anchorman a "Merry Christmas" e-mail about half-hour ago (though not quite as detailed as Zoe's). Sayonara, everyone, and hopefully I'll see you at the NEXT photoblog! :sneaky:
  17. It was a "Coldplayingasm". :mudkip: ... Very productive half-day, I must say. I may not have gotten a question answered by Phil or Jonny, but at least I still finally got an answer, so I'm satisfied! It's been fun y'all, and I'll still check back every now and then to see if additional pics or vids are added! FINAL GROUP HUG OF DECADE!
  18. I'm sorry I was only on "Hyper Spam Mode" instead of "Insanely Psychotic Spam Mode". :( There better damn well be a photoblog or two for the Latin America Tour! Lotsa love to all.
  19. I'm tempted to start a thread where I give a hug to everyone who requests it. :P Hey, if Briggins is entitled to multiple threads of his own, I don't see why I can't start a "Corkus Gives Free Hugs" thread. :laugh3: (but seriously, I wouldn't do that)
  20. Good point. :P Still, I'd like to see something this year.
  21. I'd like to see a recording of this on Coldplay.com, even if it's not posted until tomorrow. Heck, they should just give the recording out as a free mp3 download as a gift, like they did with the VLV remix last year.
  22. 70 posts might actually be a record for me for most daily posts. I guess I just don't spam often enough. :P
  23. LITii! :D They'd be insane not to end the decade with the way they started it - with Yellow.
  24. I'm gonna take a stab and say the final two songs will be War Is Over and Yellow.
