Mastermedia International prays for Coldplay on Feb. 24
Thanks to The Colbert Report for the heads-up on this (which I've noticed numerous Coldplay jokes on recently; Stephen Colbert had Feb. 23rd reserved and got ticked that Coldplay has the day right after him due to alphabetic listing). Mastermedia International, an American non-profit Christian organization that works with certain media, sets a special calendar each year to pray for one "Cultural Influencer" every single day of the year. The list is in alphabetical order, and for the first time, Coldplay has marched their way onto the list for 2009 as one of the 365 "most powerful" influencers. February 24th is their day, so today, the members of the organization will be specifically praying for care and guidance over the band. The day chosen for Coldplay. Their website is admittedly very bare and simple, but apparently their membership and subscription extends over 50,000 people. So though probably not a well-known event, Coldplay has many individuals thinking about them in a special way today. ;) Note that this thread is not supposed to be a religious advocation, nor is it meant to be some form of mockery. So in order to turn this into some form of discussion, even if you're not a Mastermedia member (doubt anyone here is), what will YOU be doing today to honor Coldplay and keep them in your thoughts? :D Just as a testament to the fact that I attend a religious university, I'll probably wear a tour shirt and hum random tunes to class. But then again, that's just like any other day. :laugh3:

||The OFFICIAL Coldplay FanFic Thread 1||
While I admit that Miss Lestrade's tale wasn't necessarily my taste in style, it's a cute story from a writing perspective, so great job on the whole thing. :):) 5142 - I need to re-read these, as I'm still lost. But if that was your goal, then you're certainly succeeding. :D

U2
Do they even have enough B-sides this decade to make it a two-disc release like the 1980's and 1990's compilations? If we're not counting 2000, then pickings are slim for this decade, which means they may have to improvise by using filler. "One" feat. Mary J. Blige is certainly a possibility, and they'll probably throw a couple entirely new songs on there as bait for people to buy it. Or probably less likely given the time between HTDAAB and NLOTH, they could release another new album in 2010 and include its hits in the "decade".

What is your favourite Coldplay song today?
Fix You Helped a friend talk about some serious stuff in the car last night while it was playing.

Show Off "Your" Coldplay!
"Swallowed in the Sea" or "The Hardest Part" should've been there.

Does security ever consider glow sticks a toxic liquid threat? Because glow stick coordination strikes me as an awesome idea for potential raves (Life in Technicolor) or waving them slowly (Fix You). Also, we may need to find a way to improvise for the potential lack of Yellow balls or paper butterflies at an outdoor venue. I dunno, someone sneak in a deflated yellow beach ball, blow it up once inside, and toss it around. Any better ideas? :P

Methinks it would be easier and less time-consuming to count the people who are not fans and then subtract from the world's overall population.

Random Coldplay thoughts...
So I was waiting in the car while my friend was smoking weed (I don't do it; no worries), and we listened to Clocks on his random mix. Suddenly, he starts talking about how much it must suck to write a song like Clocks, because even though you achieved such fame with it, that means you're going to be stuck playing it at every single concert for the rest of your life, or else your fans might riot. When I go see Coldplay in another 30 years (they'd better stick around that long), they're still gonna have to play Clocks. And Yellow and Speed of Sound and Viva La Vida. And believe me, I will indeed stage a riot if I don't hear them. Must suck to write hits, huh, boys?

I would totally understand if you never wanted to leave your bathroom or let somebody else use it.

U2 a fire; Coldplay a warm blanket
Both VLVODAAHF and NLOTH are drastic new directions for each band, so if anything, the comparisons are less valid than ever. With these latest albums, Coldplay is saying, "Hey, we're not U2!" while U2 is saying, "Come to think of it, we're not U2 anymore, either!"

Coldplay Bloopers?
Reviewing this thread and other performances of the song, it strikes me as hilarious that Chris is always trashing The Hardest Part and calling it horrible, and when performing it in concert, he screws the song up in a different place every time. :laugh3:

Coldplay Bloopers?
I'll have to watch these some time. I've only got this one 'cuz I witnessed it first-hand (around 3:40): [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0ikJusPqHes]YouTube - COLDPLAY "THE HARDEST PART/POSTCARDS FROM FAR AWAY/JONAS BROTHERS STORY" ANAHEIM 11/25/08[/ame]

The Fray
After listening to this album every now and then for three weeks, I've unfortunately decided to chuck it out of my library. Before I commented how the band refused to evolve, but still made songs that were extremely pleasant to listen to. However, it seems that even the pleasantness has worn off these newer songs quickly, and most are a bland bore. And having listened to the iTunes-exclusive tracks, let's just say that they weren't tossed-out last minute for nothing. I could always get back into The Fray (haha, unintended pun) if they take their soothing piano melodies and decide to do something really interesting with them. But as of now, I'm suddenly drifting away from a band that's still relatively new. Long story short, their latest album isn't a grower. It's a shrinker.

I want your opinion on my favourate song.
Walking out onto the shooting range here, I honestly am not the biggest fan. It's not like I skip it when playing X&Y, but depending on how I feel, it competes with "What If" for my least favorite track on the album. The lyrics are just okay, and I like that riff after the second chorus, but to me it feels like an inferior version of "Swallowed in the Sea", which is just a few tracks later. That said, it translates well acoustically.

Natalie Imbruglia records tracks with Chris Martin
Judging by the many fanatic female fans I've encountered, the idea that somebody would turn down a date offer from Chris is absolutely mind-boggling. Sounds like it'll be on her album, not Coldplay's, but I'll obviously still listen. Hope it will turn out better than Lhuna.

Holy cow, THAT is the GA? :stunned: This is the kind of thing that they should have informed us about sooner. As in, not after we actually bought the tickets.

Is it possible to listen to "Shiver"...
As said in the "Hardest Songs to Sing" thread, while Shiver does make me want to spin around like a maniac, actually singing it makes me sound like a squeaky swingset with its edges rusting off.

Coldplay: Their taste in music...
I tried getting into Radiohead before I got into Coldplay. Couldn't understand their style for the life of me. But once I was fully into Coldplay, I picked up on Radiohead pretty easily.

Random Coldplay thoughts...
My roommate's best friend's name is Chris. I actually hate him, but if I felt like joking around, I suppose I could always ask, "How's Gwyneth?" Then he'd look at me like I'm some sort of psychopath. :P

From GA confusion to not even having a seating chart, it seems that once again, Ticketmaster drops the ball. I know it's still a whopping five months in the planning, but even though I'm not camping out (my tickets aren't GA), I still think meeting up would be cool. Granted, the girls I'm taking would have no idea what's going on, but I've known 'em for years and they know not to judge. :D Like I said, we've got five months to plan meetings, stalking locations, sign coordination, and potential mob rule. Let's not waste a day. :laugh3:

$450 for Section D4 and 2 tickets? HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Oh, how I seriously hope people don't fall for these Craigslist scumbags. They're worse than the eBay ones.

So is everyone satisfied with the seats they got? Like I said, my seats aren't the greatest, but being my first floor show and all, I decided to snag them anyways. Of course, when they come back to the area again (may not be for years), I'll go for one better. :D Though I'm curious about one thing - does an outdoor venue mean no paper butterflies?

Waiting in line was a bitch to me. Went from five minutes down to two minutes then back to four minutes. All this after the site sorta crashed on me and I had to totally restart. So I got section E3. It's my first show on the floor, so I'm not gonna complain. Besides, I didn't wanna risk having to settle for something worse if I jumped back in line. See y'all there. :D And good luck to those still trying.

I need to figure out how to put my F5 key on turbo. :laugh3: I wish us all luck, but then again, I also hope I don't get robbed of great seats because of y'all. I feel so confused, lol.
