  1. I WAS THERE AT LOLLAPALOOZA ON FRIDAY AND LINED UP AT 6AM AND I'M STILL HERE AND I'M HAVING THE TIME OF MY LIFE AT THIS FESTIVAL! :D Of course, I spent all day waiting for Muse, not Coldplay. I saw quite a few Coldplay shirts as I walked down the queue for the occasional bathroom break before gates opened, though. Once we were in (and I endured the murderous 10-minute marathon to the south stage that the Coldplay barrier folks didn't have to endure), we got to enjoy some nice shade by the stage for most of the day, while I suddenly thought, "The sun is facing the north. I bet those Coldplay suckers are frying right now. Suckers." Of course, I was still extremely bitter about missing Coldplay, especially since I flew out of LA - my hometown - the day they played there too. I kept pondering whether it was worth it, especially as I had stood on that barricade for 11 hours straight. But damn, that was so worth it. I would kill to hear Shiver and ENL, but I am completely satisfied with what I got at my 6th Muse show (last I checked, Coldplay didn't play Butterflies & Hurricanes or Citizen Erased at their show), and supposedly we totally won the loudness war since people said they could hear Muse at the other side of the park. And apparently Chris Martin didn't even chuck his guitar right through Will's drumset and break open a giant hole that required a five-minute duct tape intermission. Come on, Coldplay, be more destructive! What's better is that I spoke to the lovely kind guys in Two Door Cinema Club the next night and told them about how conflicted we were between Muse and Coldplay. And according to their guitarist, "Chris Martin is kind of a douche." Coldplay Live subforum. I came. I saw. I trolled. :D
  2. A friend told me I could be seen in the crowd during their webcast. LOL. Good fun show, BTW. Nothing extraordinary but ultimately harmless fun, just like their album. :)
  3. Assuming that's referring to the tweet I sent, we were explaining to TDCC at the aftershow why we couldn't see their festival set on Friday and then asked if we made the right decision to stay on Muse barrier. Their guitarist then said something about how it's a hard choice, but Chris Martin is a douche, and Muse is so good they sound record-quality. :P If I do decide to waltz into the Coldplay Live thread for a laugh, that's some extra bait I have that was told to me exclusively. :P EDIT: Done. Go check out my troll post and wait for the ensuing frenzy.
  4. During the show, Matt said "Thanks for coming to see us tonight. We know you have options. *points across field in direction of Coldplay stage* You made the right one!" Damn right I did. I almost feel like trolling the Lolla thread in the Coldplay Live section. Natt, the ontd folks had banners in queue like TITS FOR BLISS and DEAD STAR OR GTFO and WILL STRIP FOR BLACKOUT. was awesome.
  5. Matt's destruction of Dom's drumset might have been the greatest thing I ever witnessed at a Muse concert, even with the 5 minutes of downtime they took to duct tape it back together. :laugh3:
  6. COLDPLAY PLAYED SHIVER AND EVERYTHING'S NOT LOST AND I MISSED IT EVEN THOUGH I WAS LIKE 1/4 OF A MILE AWAY? :bomb: Oh wait, I just witnessed Butterflies & Hurricanes and Citizen Erased at the same gig. Never mind.
  7. I've been in line for an hour with the Muse fans. Feel free to say hi.
  8. It is because two is better than one, but I still want to "complete the collection". :P
  9. Damn pro team. Chris was supposed to have a game with us like he promised months ago. :P That's now THREE footie promises that haven't come true for me. So I still haven't met Chris, who everyone seems to meet, yet I've met the two that nobody meets. :inquisitive:
  10. I've been in Chicago almost 24 hours now, and I was able to get some pretty good pictures of the set-up inside the park, although much of the park has since been closed to the public. I noticed quite a few wristband scans on the central bridge (like 30 of them) but I didn't check out the northern entrance, which is where I'd advise all you Coldplay fans to enter (mainly so that you don't have our lovely Muse crossover upon entrance). Saw the merch stands, which are split into lines for headliners and non-headliners. They were still unpacking so only the Eminem stuff was up when I walked by.
  11. In my hotel in Chicago. I really made it into the movie? I completely forgot I recorded that silly bit. Will watch another time when my roommate isn't asleep.
  12. k guys, I'll brb, Lolla time. I'm taking my laptop (after arguing with myself for a month over whether to bring it) but chances are I won't be online often. I'll take lots of pics for you guys from what shall be Muse Concert #6 for me. Hoping to hear at least one song I haven't gotten live before. ;) Also, Tom Kirk promised me a footie game with Chris while they were in LA and it never actually happened. BASTARD.
  13. Have fun, guys. :) I'll be in LA in the morning, then flying out of state while being upset that the one week of the year I'm not in LA is when Coldplay comes.
  14. 2001? You're a pioneer. My first one was some time in 2008. It's in my sig, I don't know the exact date without looking at it. But it was my first college concert, meaning it was the first one I could actually go to without my parents.
  15. I live in LA. We get free shit all the time. Underground artists are desperate for radio play and attention when they first start out, so they play everything free on behalf of local NPR affiliates. Heck, I saw Best Coast for free a few weeks ago too. (Technically I just saw a Muse soundcheck for free, but that was more like asinine luck than anything.)
  16. I went to a free Grouplove show about a week ago and thought they were really fun. Way better than the free Battles show I also went to last week. Those guys sucked.
  17. My schedule upon consulting with a friend (still need to consult with my 2nd friend) is as follows: Friday - Joy Formidable > Phantogram > Foster the People > Ellie Goulding > The Limousines > The Shins Saturday - BARRIER ALL DAY (All the early day crap > OK Go > Arctic Monkeys > Black Keys > Muse) Sunday - Grouplove > Ty Segall > Little Dragon/Wye Oak/John Fogerty (undecided) > Decemberists > Arcade Fire Only act I'll be bummed about missing is Beirut, especially since I just decided I'm skipping them at Lolla.
  18. CECILIA. Outside Lands schedule is finally out. OK GO INTO ARCTIC MONKEYS INTO BLACK KEYS INTO MUSE. :stunned::stunned::stunned: Hell yeah. :D
  19. Outside Lands schedule has finally been released. Definitely looking forward to The Decemberists transitioning into AF on the same stage.
  20. Hahahaha. That was...quick.
  21. Hmm...it might be restricted outside North America, which would be really annoying, because I know how annoying it is when I can't watch European festival webcasts because they can't be shown in other continents. Regardless, I'm sure somebody will record it and upload it elsewhere for worldwide viewing pleasure. :)
  22. They haven't played Space Dementia since the Black Holes tour, and that was only in South America. Citizen Erased gets played rarely nowadays. I've watched them soundcheck it but haven't actually heard it in a full live setting.
  23. A few of the casual ones do. Among the hardcore fanbase, Undisclosed Desires is considered one of the very worst live tracks. It's probably their most overproduced song on record, so it doesn't translate well live AT ALL. Every time I hear it live, I am bored out of my mind for 4 minutes, but at least that's 4 minutes of downtime where I can take pretty pictures. Heck, I was making mockery robotic gestures to my friend during Undisclosed Desires at LA Rising the other night.
  24. Okay, I need to rant. This is NOT personally directed at any of you in particular. I want to make that clear. But I need to call out a trend I've been seeing on the forum for a while now. Are we just spouting off known possible track names that sound cool? Because we haven't even heard 4/5ths of these songs. They won't use Viva era stuff. Period. Famous Old Painters? DEAD FOREVER. You guys will be still asking about FOP decades from now. LeftRightLeftRightLeft? DEAD FOREVER (this was answered once, Will didn't like LRLRL so they stopped writing it early on and they just felt it would be a cool name for a live album). Wedding Bells? Pieces were used for the final version of Christmas Lights. Oh yeah, and Wedding Bells sucked anyway. Spanish Rain? Was just a fun bonus for the Latin American tour. Too much of a blatant Springsteen rip-off to include on record anyway. So we just have the stuff we've heard live on this festival tour, plus about 50 possible song names that either A) will have their names changed (like Cartoon Heart did) or B) never actually make it on the album, because like FOP and LRLRL, they were just fun ideas that never went anywhere in the recording studio. Okay, rant done. To SonnyIanni, welcome to the forum. :) I'm not usually this nasty, so don't worry, most of us tend to be pretty nice. ;) Hope you enjoy your time here.
  25. Coldplay fans are pretty wishy-washy at concerts. They talk about how meaningful the band is to them, which is cool and all, but my experiences have featured very stiff crowds, even on the floor. Muse fans are very diverse, but there's the awesome fans and the douche fans, and unless you know the right people, you won't know what you'll get (barrier typically produces better results).
