Bands that are better live than on CD
Impossible!

^ hard to tell. I know the guy is always writing or working on some musical project. I don't know if that has changed since he left the band. He used to do solo shows in small clubs on occasion, which I would have originally expected him to do again in his post Chili Pepper days. However, I live in Los Angeles and follow the local music scene very closely, and I haven't heard a thing out of John.

Certainly. I'm sure it will be. They are an interesting bunch. Ever read Anthony Keidis' book "Scar Tissue?" Dude's lived a crazy life!

Bands that are better live than on CD
I would have to say that Red Hot Chili Peppers are/were better live than in the studio. Not so much Anthony Keidis, but the trio of Flea, John, and Chad could throw down.

I still have my tickets for the 2 nights in Anaheim. Ticketmaster is making some good interest on this one.

Arcade Fire
Yeah, I agree. I would have asked them to sign something else, but Funeral is the only cd cover that works (Neon Bible is dark and The Suburbs is ultra glossy). Plus, Jeremy is not on the first CD. And fitting a band that size on a CD cover is a task. I don't understand policing that stuff. I don't sell it, but who cares if I did. Some fan who lives in an area where they may never see Arcade Fire is getting a genuine autograph, and the seller is making some money that he will throw into a struggling economy. Big deal. By the way, they also turned down my buddy who had a set list from a show in 2007. I just don't think they were having it that night. I should add that I'm not crushed. I go to the shows because I'm a fan, and they were fantastic. I stay afterwards to meet the band for the same reason - I'm a big fan. It just didn't work out this time.

Ok, but I doubt he will show. He has kind of slid off the face of the earth. He used to pop up doing solo shows on occasion, but I've seen or heard nothing from him since he left the band.

^ U2 is definitely a band you need to see live. Their CDs are good, but you can't really understand that band without seeing their concert. They have such an incredible energy about them. Also, the stage show is just nuts. The good thing about U2 is that each tour is like an experience. Although I don't think the band sounds quite as good today as they did during the Joshua Tree era (certainly Bono's vocals), their current tour is so amazing its hard to call it better or worse than others. It's just different.

Who knows??? It's the Chili Peppers - one never knows what to expect. I'm just hoping they show up. It's at a Barnes & Noble, so I doubt they will play. I want the book anyhow, so I really can't lose.

I'm going to some in-store event that they are doing on November 4th. No, it's not for an album, it's for a new book. Go figure. Anyhow, here's the link to the new book: [ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0061351911?ie=UTF8&tag=upccelboosige-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0061351911]http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/0061351911?ie=UTF8&tag=upccelboosige-20&linkCode=as2&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=0061351911[/ame]

Favorite/best live concert moments (that you've experienced)
Wow, there's been so many. But since it's a Coldplay forum, I will include "Fix You" (the version on the Twisted Logic Tour). I loved toward the end of the song when Chris would spin the lantern above his head and throw it into the crowd when the drums kicked in. Very cool.

Bands that are better live than on CD
I would say Led Zeppelin, too. Man, if you listen to the beginning of "How The West Was Won," they blow the doors off the hinges when they come out of the Intro and into Immigrant Song. That's back when Robert Plant's voice was still spot on.

Bands that are better live than on CD
The two most obvious bands for me would be Pearl Jam and Dave Matthews Band. Both of these bands are capable of breaking off into a fierce jam session that makes their CDs seem like only a blueprint.

Bands that are better live than on CD
Who are they? I'm not talking about greatest live bands (although many will fall into this category). I'm more interested in bands whose CD, as good as it might be, doesn't quite do them justice. This could be from experience, watching a live DVD, listening to bootleg tapes, etc.

Favorite Canadian Band...if you have one
^ Origin of a band is so pointless to me. I relate so strongly to bands from other countries you would have thought the story they were telling was my own. In fact, it is - it's just humans sharing their feelings and life experiences, and we can all relate to that. When we talk about bands transcending other cultures, that's exactly what's going on. I don't really care what side of a border or ocean they fall on.

What is the greatest album ever?
Haha...Says who? I could argue that at least 2 other Beatle albums belong in the top 5 (White Album, Abbey Road).

John Lennon
I was thinking about how odd it is that someone who was such a peace activist would die in such a violent manner. There is an undeniable level of intrigue surrounding those circumstances. The same thing is true of Martin Luther King Jr. It's very odd.

Arcade Fire
Not to hash out something that has probably already been discussed a million times on this thread, but do you like the new album? I'm kind of hot and cold on it at this point.

What is the greatest album ever?
This is a pretty good summary of the albums that are widely thrown around on most "greatest albums" lists - at least the ones I've viewed.

Do you still buy CDs/go to concerts?
Haha. Yeah, I knew that sounded kind of funny. It's not like it's a big secret, I just don't want to get anyone in trouble by putting it out on the internet (not like anything would ever happen). The "source" I use is not in the business of providing me with CDs so that I can bolster my own personal iTunes library. It just works out that way :D The main point is that, if you can get your hands on CDs, import them into your library. Eventually, you will have a pretty impressive collection.

Arcade Fire
I can't recommend them high enough. Everyone should save their money and make Arcade Fire the show of the year if you can only make it to one. It is really worth it. Just don't stick around afterwards.

Do you still buy CDs/go to concerts?
I have a source that allows me to borrow any CD I want. I then just import it into my iTunes library.

Arcade Fire
Yeah, the show was fantastic. They are so good live. They are one of the few bands to come out in the last 10 years that I will make it a point to see everytime they come around. I threw the meeting experience out there to see what others have encountered. I live in Los Angeles, and musicians have become accustomed to being harassed by professionals, which I am not. Next time I'll drop the $20-$30 and buy the poster from the show. I spent $2.99 and blew a photo of Win and Regine up to an 11X14. As they exited the venue, they both walked right past me but wouldn't touch it. Oh well...

John Lennon
I also think it's important to note that John Lennon did not start out signing about political issues. Please, Please Me is an album full of "puppy love songs," which is one of the reasons I adore that album. Artists are going to evolve and take on a number of issues. As much as I love the early Beatles, I would not be much of a fan if every song was like "I Want to Hold Your Hand."
