  1. I think when you talk about photo/conversation/autograph, you have to remember that a lot of the time the choice isn't yours. This is especially true for bigger names. Yeah, I would have loved to have had a conversation with Paul McCartney about the Beatles. And it would have been great to get a picture with him. But security only allowed one autograph/no pictures. I told him that I loved his music, got my autograph, and that was good enough for me. Other musicians, like thom yorke and Eddie vedder, don't like having their picture taken. I would have asked but they say no in advance. Then there are musicians who you just feel funny about asking for a photo. Like Morrissey - I just asked for the autograph because I felt a picture would be awkward. Finally, a lot of the times I meet celebrities in a crowd. They are not going to do pictures for 50 people, but they may sign 50 autographs. I just take what I can get and am grateful. It's all for my personal collection anyhow.
  2. It's as if this thread were created for me. Autographs all the way. I am a huge memorabilia collector. Now, when I say autographs, I don't mean a scribble on a piece of paper. I like getting signed vinyl, cd covers, magazine covers, and over sized photos. I look at that stuff as artwork. Paul McCartney on Abbey Road vinyl? Pet Sounds on vinyl signed by every living member of the Beach Boys? Fully signed OK Computer on cd and vinyl? Come on, that stuff is history. I don't understand the ebay thing, either. Whether it's a picture or an autograph, the whole idea, to me, is to take away an experience. I see very limited appeal in buying someone else's in-person experience. I do pictures sometimes, but it's hard to do both. I really don't like taking pictures, so that's part of the reason I don't do photos much. I've met just about every significant rock star.
  3. Yeah, Bono's voice sucks. They're never gonna be able to sell any albums or concert tickets with a guy who sings like that. Take my word - this band will never amount to anything.
  4. Nice pics! Glad the show was good. 90,000 people...that's nuts.
  5. Yeah, I'm not terribly happy with John, either. He's gotta do what he's gotta do, but he single handedly derailed one of my favorite bands. I think the main reason no one cares about the Chili Peppers right now is because they haven't released anything for some time. Will people care once they release a new album? I don't know, we'll have to wait and see. I haven't pre-determined that the next album will be bad. I am going to reserve judgment until I hear it. I just know that it won't be the same without John. And someone tell Anthony to shave that stupid mustache.
  6. Nice pics. Bono is the best. Have fun tonight!
  7. ^ I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. Mark Chapman, who otherwise would be unknown, will always be famous for killing Lennon. In a society that glorifies celebrity, I am surprised that more mentally unstable people don't attempt to kill famous people.
  8. Back in the day, every single used to be supported by a music video. Today, several artists won't even invest the money in the production. There's not the central format (i.e. MTV) today that supports music videos. You'll still get them from pop artists, but several rock bands stay away from the music video altogether.
  9. Who knows for sure, but I think you might be right. Today, U2 are still a great live band, however, I would suggest that younger fans go back and watch clips of early U2. Their ambition is unmatched.
  10. I think the music video is a powerful medium. To bad it's dead.
  11. I heard from a friend of mine that Thom Yorke is back in Los Angeles. I can only imagine he is back in the studio.
  12. :laugh3: Thanks, I needed a laugh. MTV is probably the least credible music source known to man.
  13. I do like Keith Urban.
  14. My favorite new song so far is The Immortals, but that may change with time.
  15. ^ I hadn't heard anything. I don't really understand what would be remastered after Ten. I mean, Ten was recorded back when the band was an unknown. By the time Vs. was released, they were the biggest band in the world. I would think that they would be getting the production right by that point in time. I'm just curious as to what they wold be improving.
  16. According to Shazam, it's "Man with a Harmonica" by Ennio Morricone.
  17. ^ yeah, that's true. I love their studio albums, too. However, you can throw on any PJ live show, and the songs flow seamlessly together even though they are from different albums. You really can't lose either way - studio or live. Just listen to PJ in any format.
  18. Noel cracks me up. I give him bonus points for that.
  19. Those songs sound good with or without Liam singing them. Just watch MTV Unplugged.
  20. :laugh3: I got Eddie to autograph that cover of Rolling Stone magazine for me. Glad to see the PJ talk. Most of the time, no one is interested. We've got a few more people with good taste  By the way, if you are listening to PJ, you don't have to listen to their studio albums. Throw on any of their live albums and lay back and enjoy
  21. Noel IS Oasis.
  22. Unless you really like the new CD, I'd save your time and money and go see The Killers when they come back around.
  23. Eddie always does great covers, which is surprising given that his voice is so unique.
  24. What more do you want? Everyone here has given you sound advice. You either take the chance or you don't. Only thing that is 100% certain is buying it through the ticket agency. On the secondary market, there is always some risk involved. You try to mitigate those risks by using common sense, but there are no absolute guarantees. It's a judgment call on your part.
  25. It's like anything...you need to use common sense. Look at the seller's feedback. If they have 5,000 positive feedbacks, they are not going to want to ruin their record over a false ticket sale. Most likely, Ebay is a viable source of income for them that they don't want to mess up. Now, if someone has 5 feedbacks, I would more concerned. But I've bought from people with feedback that low, I just had to make sure I talked to them before hand. Use common sense and make a judgment call. I have seen many shows over the years at drastically reduced prices because I am willing to take that gamble. If I ever get burned (which I haven't), I would just consider that in the price of buying tickets online. Even with a lose, I am still way ahead financially. Just use your head.
