U2
You got a great set list last night: Ultraviolet, Pride, New Years Day, and All I Want is You were not played the prior night and are all money songs.

The Pink Floyd Thread
^ Yeah, thanks. It was really good. Tomorrow marks the end of his U.S. leg of the tour, and I think he's off to Europe afterwards. I think he will add another U.S. leg to this tour. He is getting big crowds, great reviews, and racking in money left and right. I would recommend checking out the show if it comes your way again. The dude is 67; he isn't going to be doing this that much longer.

The Pink Floyd Thread
I just got back from Roger Waters' "The Wall" concert. I highly recommend people check out this show if given a chance. You kind of need to suspend your idea of what a concert is - this is is very much a theatrical, musical event. I would even recommend seeing this show if Roger Waters didn't show up; it's that impressive visually. The fact that he is at the show, obviously, provides a sense of authenticity that makes it all the better. The stage show production is unlike anything I've ever seen before, perhaps matched in scale only by U2. However, the Roger Waters' show is nothing like U2. Where as the U2 show is an honest to goodness rock concert, the Roger Waters' show is like a high priced, special effects musical show that you would maybe see at a large casino in Las Vegas. Money was no object in the show production; he went all out. Of course, I think The Wall is such a stellar album, and essentially it is all Roger Waters, which adds more genuineness than "The Dark Side..." Tour. As many of you know from my other posts, I am a memorabilia junkie. He received a police escort out of the venue, but his caravan had to wait at a stop sign. I went up to his SUV and knocked on his window holding up my The Wall cd. He was kind enough to roll down and sign it before he drove off. I know he can be an arrogant son of gun, but he has always been nice to fans. Maybe he just enjoys the adoration. Who knows? I've got no beef with him, though. I am going to try to go to tomorrow's show. There was so much to take in that a second show couldn't hurt anything but my wallet, which is a little lighter after night one :)

U2
True, but I still love Elevation live. Like so many U2 songs, it takes on an entirely new life when played live.

We are going to need more details than that ;)

2010 Kroq Almost Acoustic Christmas Webcast
^ So far, so good. You're internet must lag. It doesn't really require that fast of a connection. I am watching it on wireless. That's too bad.

U2
I was listening to ATYCLB today. I don't know why they ever took any garbage for that album. It is such a great collection of songs. I love "When I Look at the World." I'm not sure why I like that song so much, but I do.

Temper Trap was darn good. I didn't see the entire set, but what I did see was great. Edit: There is supposed to be a special guest tonight. I'm thinking maybe the remaining Killers will join Brandon. Who knows???

I am happy to see Scarlet in the set lists as kind of an odd throw in. Besides Gloria, I don't recall many songs U2 play off of October.

2010 Kroq Almost Acoustic Christmas Webcast
^ yeah, no doubt about Smashing Pumpkins. I was afraid Billy would do a bunch of rarities and be a downer the entire night. The Fellowship Today Drown Freak Bullet With Butterfly Wings Tarantula Landslide (Fleetwood Mac cover) Tonight, Tonight Stand Inside Your Love Eye Heavy Metal Machine I mean, 7 of the 10 songs are on their Greatest Hits album, Rotten Apples (which everyone should own because it's an awesome collection of songs). I don't think you could really hope for more in a radio festival environment. Have fun tonight. I'll be watching on the webcast again. Last night came in crystal clear.

The Big Four
I mean, you would have a hard time replacing any of the top 4 you mentioned. If you did, it would probably be with the substitutes you provided. You might throw The Who, Bowie, Dylan, and The Beach Boys on the list. When I think "big bands", I think of names that any level of music fan is going to instantly recognize. It's a shame we haven't had a big band in a long time. Radiohead, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, and Coldplay are probably the closest I can think of.

Social Distortion
^ I've seen that interview before. Mike Ness is a legend. I thought their last album, Sex, Love and Rock & Roll, was stellar. I hope this new album lives up to it. All Social D albums tell a story, and they sound so authentic. Mike's lived a true punk rock lifestyle.

I thought Smashing Pumpkins were really good tonight. Billy went down the list, playing a lot of the classics.

Social Distortion
yes, yes they do! Their stuff is always great. I wish I could convince people to listen to them for something different.

2010 Kroq Almost Acoustic Christmas Webcast
^ Yeah, I've enjoyed it a lot. Social Distortion are one of the best live bands out there and have been for years. They are a combination of Johnny Cash, Rolling Stones and the Clash. You just don't see punk/hard rock mixed with rockabilly. Mike Ness sounds like he's eaten a bucket of nails with his gravely voice. It fits their music so perfectly. They are legends. Still waiting on Smashing Pumpkins.

I guess you can also watch the webcast from your iPhone. Isn't technology awesome? I would be so happy if I could get more live webcasts. It's cool to watch music DVDs, but it's even better to have the feeling that you are watching it as it occurs in real time.

2010 Kroq Almost Acoustic Christmas Webcast
^ That's cool that you're going. Night 1 is a little weak. I would recommend watching the sets of Jimmy Eat World and Social Distortion. Music and radio festivals aren't just a way to watch bands you know you like; it's a way to get a flavor for different types of music. I'd also recommend Smashing Pumpkins, but no one knows what you'll get out of Billy Corgan.

U2
It looks like U2 are playing Kiss Me, Kill Me... or Ultraviolet as the first encore songs with the circle mic. I'm glad I'm going to two nights because I love both songs. Ultraviolet is a top 5 favorite U2 song for me, but Kiss Me, Kill Me... online clips look great. Like all U2 songs, they always sound better live.

Prince anyone?????
I love Prince because he writes and sings quality pop songs. Prince is much more than that, but if more pop artists could live up to the likes of Prince, Michael Jackson, and Elton John, I'd be very happy.

U2
No doubt. That wasn't my point. I wish it was done in America because I thought that tour played out better in arenas than stadiums.
