  1. It's understandable that you don't know why you were thrown out of the bar. That part usually starts to make sense the next day, or when your friends start to bring you up to speed.
  2. Drunk typing is the best. I've done it on more than one occasion.
  3. This entire Miley Cyrus thing is funny to me. My feelings are ones of complete indifference, but there are some people that are really mad at even the thought. I always thought she was popular in a benign type of way, but it seems that there are a lot of people who have a genuine dislike for her. I always saw her as a Disney-type character, and I am no more mad at her than I would be at Mickey, Goofy, or Donald. Of course, I don't think Coldplay should collaborate with them, either.
  4. They play every song off In Rainbows every night as far as I can tell. That goes beyond a disproportionate share. I wish they would stop (I know, I have posted this already...sorry).
  5. Thom Yorke is NOT a jerk when it comes to his fans. I have met him 4 times, and he was as nice as could be. On their last tour, he came outside the Artist Entrance and spent 10-15 minutes talking with his fans and signing autographs. He does have his quirks, which are well documented, but it is not true that he is unfriendly toward his fans, and I can attest to this from my own personal experiences. For the record, I think Radiohead should have met Miley Cyrus. I am not privy to the particulars, but I don't see any reason for turning down someone who is a fan of your work. That's one of the things I like best about Coldplay - those guys go out of their way to take time with their fans. Miley probably feels that she has a closer attachment to Chris Martin than she actually does because Chris most likely went out of his way to be warm and make her feel welcomed, and that's the way it should be.
  6. It's funny to see this thread, as I have often thought that there is room for a huge rock band to have a female lead singer. There's just not many out there. By the way, I have always liked No Doubt and Gwen Stefani. They have always had their own unique sound and are the closest to the above description, in fairly recent years, that I can think of.
  7. Sorry, I didn't even see your original post. The Radiohead thread gets so many posts that I often don't look backwards.
  8. Here is a pretty good video of Creep from the Mexico show. I don't care what anyone says, that song is badass. How cool is the light show when Jonny rips his hand across his guitar? [ame= ] [/ame]
  9. U2 - No Line On The Horizon
  10. I really liked both the Elevation and Vertigo DVDs. I think Hamish Hamilton does a great job of making a DVD seem like a concert live experience. I hope he does the DVD for the U2 360 tour, however, I am not sure that the stadium environment will translate to DVD as well as the last two tours, which, at least in North America, were in arenas.
  11. Yeah, it is something best attempted in a band's teens, 20s, or early 30s. It doesn't look too good when the first attempt is made at a time when you're pushing 50. And it seems like it's only Bono that is confused. Edge, Adam, and Larry are probably wondering WTF. At least he will probably be wearing his flash shades. That should help shield this monstrosity.
  12. I wish Radiohead would not play EVERY song off In Rainbows. Not to say I don't like In Rainbows, but it just limits the amount of time they can devote to other songs. I understand that the concert is going to be heavily influenced by the latest album, but I don't need to hear every song. A good 6-7 songs would be good for me. This would give them more time to play their old stuff.
  13. I like the album. U2 is a funny band for me (and they are my favorite band BTW). I like pretty much everything they have ever done. Every song they do kind of has its own groove to it, and I rarely skip songs on a U2 album. That's not to say every song is great - some are just above average. But I find myself enjoying those songs while I wait for the songs that are outstanding. On NLOTH, the high moments, for me, are No Line On The Horizon and Breathe. Magnificent, Get On Your Boots (after multiple listens), I'll Go Crazy If I Don't Go Crazy Tonight, and White As Snow are all above average, and the other songs are fine fillers and may eventually move up on my list. U2 really excels when they play live, though. So I will reserve my final judgement until I hear a complete concert, but I think it is a fine effort as it currently stands.
  14. It's so funny how that happens. I started out not even liking the album, and now it is probably my second favorite Radiohead album.
  15. ^ I already have a re-issue of OK Computer on vinyl. That shows you how dumb I am. I have never listened to it one time, I just enjoy having it. I am a sucker for words like "limited edition, special edition, re-mastered, previously unreleased tracks, box set, etc." I am a marketing department's dream.
  16. ^ I'll buy it because I am a sucker for that kind of stuff. I will have to start setting some limitations, though. There are too many bands that I like, and they are all coming out with cool special editions or re-releases. I am going to go broke in the process of trying to keep up. I love buying the vinyl albums, and I don't even own a freaking record player.
  17. Man, it was bad enough checking my mailbox and finding a Rolling Stone cover with Bono wearing eye make-up. Imagine the dismay when I learned that I am going to repeat the experience upon receiving my new issue of Spin Magazine. Sorry Bono, I love you to death, but it just looks stupid. http://www.spin.com/articles/exclusive-behind-u2s-spin-cover-shoot
  18. Ahh! Cool, because I thought I was being fair.
  19. Yeah, that's all I'm saying. She is acting like a brat, but it wouldn't have killed Radiohead to be more friendly. She didn't ask for one of their kidneys, just a few minutes of thier time.
  20. Why the eye rolls? Do you see it differently?
  21. Well, I tend to see the middle ground on this one. I certainly don't think she is out to "ruin" Radiohead (like she could if she wanted to), I think it simply came out of her mouth in a stream of disappointed and frustrated remarks. If you put it in its proper context, her statement is simply alluding to the fact that she wants to make public the fact that Radiohead are surly, distant, and don't care what other people think. The funny thing is that her assessment is correct. Radiohead can be all of those things. In fact, I am surprised they even showed up at the Grammys let alone performed. Now, in the whole skeem of things, would it have really hurt Radiohead to take 5 minutes backstage to say "hello" to someone who has clearly expressed that she is a fan? I don't think that's asking too much. Nevertheless, Radiohead are free to conduct themselves as they see fit, and it certainly is not going to be some "pop princess" who is going to change their minds. Also, Miley's statements do come off as if she has a sense of entitlement. It's almost as if she has never been told no in her life, which is probably the case.
  22. I hope tickets are generally more accessible due to the fact that they are playing larger stadiums. Getting tickets to the Vertigo tour was a pain in the ass.
  23. Yeah, I always wondered why youtube was not a copyright infringement. I hope this doesn't keep new videos off the site.
